Oh good lord people.
Flacco threw an interception. Smith didn't beat his man, and everyone not named Yana or Zuttah couldn't hold up in run or pass pro.
The offense as a collective got dominated. Let's just leave it at that.
I think it's clear our defense is MUCH improved.
As for the offense, our O-Line struggled and WR's just aren't getting open.
Last drive Flacco went into clutch mode and made some passes to our TE's and got us in position to win the game.
He made THE throw but the TD was dropped by Smith.
Sad thing is that he came right back and put one in Gilmore's wheelhouse and he didn't catch it either.
Total night and day difference. The problem was that we couldn't block. When your QB is getting hit every time he throws the ball, and you can't run it you aren't going to have success.i know its only week 1 but it looked like cam all over again but hopefully its just that denver D is that good and kubiaks familiarity
He tried max protecting, but their coverage was too good to get anyone open with 1 or 2 WR's
He tried spreading them out, but that left Hurst and Wagner with no help against Ware and Miller..they were just getting beat everywhere. Scheme and play calling were fine.
He was using a lot of motion early in the game, which I liked.
During the 4th quarter drive at the end, play calls got considerably more agressive.
He seems to be a coach that is more willing to make some adjustments and things like that.
I have a feeling that once Perriman gets back and comfortable in the offense, it will take some heat off of Smith and guys like Aiken and Brown as well as the TE's. Options are just limited right now, Denver knew it and sold out to stop the run, knowing that their corners could hold up against our guys and that they could get pressure off the edge if it was a pass.
No amount of coaching can defeat what Denver did to our offense yesterday, but Test man found a way to get the O in position for a game winning drive which says a lot to me.
I'm glad that I wasn't the only one screamin that the Broncos DB was clearly face guarding as it happened. I didn't even need to see the replay. He didn't make an effort to play the ball.
That said, it shouldn't have come to that.
MY good-
-Flacco despite the pick 6 handled the pressure the best he could.
-The defense was astounding for 3 quarters before the got gassed and then lost Suggs.
- Tucker hit from over 50 once, and matched their kicker with touch backs on every kickoff.
-Coaching...Trestman got agressive with the play calling finally on the last drive, and they moved the ball well enough to have shot to win it.
Dean Pees called one of the most agressive games that I've seen from him here. A lot of nice blitzes..got quite a few free runners on Manning.
The secondary looked good for week 1. Both safeties really weren't pressed due to the Broncos inability to throw deep.
As for Webb, he got beat deep clearly once, there was another time that it looked like he got beat, but he actually had a safety behind him and was playing under. That's why Manning went down the middle with that particular throw.
The bad and ugly
Injuries-Losing Monroe was a huge blow early, Ware would have still gotten his shots but Monroe could have at least given that extra second or so a few times.
Also Wagner got brutalized by Miller all game. In an Ideal situation if you have Monore, you let him deal with Ware and send the rb or TE to help chip Miller...the same way every team defends against our pass rush.
WR's- Nobody was getting open albeit against a very talented secondary..Was Kamar Aiken even at the game?
Injuries part 2- Losing Suggs. Enough said.
Time for Upshaw to step up.
Why does everyone say the run D was great? The LONG 10 minute drive at the end was accomplished by the Broncos running the ball.
Because they were gassed dude. That drive would have been a punt in quarters 1-3.
You can't hold that against them. Denver's defense shut us down plain and simple. Our defense shut them down as well.
That was an ugly game.
Joe had zero time to make quality throws, yet he was still like 18 of 24 which isn't bad at all considering they have Talib and Harris.
Defense was stout until the end, which I can't really pin on them. They were tired and still gave the team a shot by only giving up 3.
Listen, I didn't think we could win this game from the start. Most of us here had it down as a loss... Denver is a good team, and we took them to the limit in their own house on week 1.
No need to jump off a bridge get guys.
We will crush Oakland this week, and all will be right with the world.
Yup, I wouldn't throw the ball again for the rest of the game.
Guys and Gals,
Why are you acting like you expected is to win this game? Lol. It's week 1 in Denver and it's only 6-0. Chill the heck out for the love of god. Some the newer members here are straight up annoying
As I wrote earlier, without any in game injuries we were losing 31-17. Lose Monroe in the first quarter and we will be lucky to put up 17.
Yup, they are going to blitz us all day, we can't handle it now.
Gonna have to go 3 TE's and just try to wear them out running the ball.
Monroe is out with a concussion.
Wow. Joe didn't have a freaking chance.
Guys, this is going to be a long afternoon.
Monroe out
Hurst on Ware? Don't like it
Now let's get some tempo on offense. We should be able to run the ball on these guys.
Trestman so far, using a lot more motion than we're used to seeing
Not bad, defense
Sorry but I get annoyed by people constantly saying that we won the SB as a Wildcard. We won the Division in 2012.Yea, I've heard that argument before. Like when we lost 4 of our last 5 games in 2012. Then went on to win the SB as a Wild Card. Heard a lot of we don't deserve to be there talk at the end of the regular season.
But I agree we still need to get the job done.
We won as a Wildcard in 2000
Neither team looked impressive at all.
The Steelers had zero pass rush all night, they gave NE 21 points due to their secondary being trash and letting Gronk run free..oh and that fumble that they didn't grab at the goal line.
The same could be said for the Patriots, they got torched pretty bad on some go routes a few times, their run defense looked horrible against a washed up Williams.
I think the rest of the league should start having headset malfunctions whenever the Patriots are in town..it would be a shame if Bill couldn't talk to his best bud Ernie up in the booth all game.
This is a 10-6 or 11-5 team.

Some new stuff has come to light, man.
Seriously, nothing will be done. But people still need to be angry about it, and 31 other owners need to be mad about it too.
The Patriots are the scum of the earth.
Oh well, we all know that Bill fears the Ravens.
If the Ravens play a clean game. By clean, I mean:
- Don't turn the ball over
-Don't make rediculous decisions or take dumb penalties on special teams
-Don't give Peyton extra downs via penalties on defense.
- tackle the way you've been taught since childhood
If they do all of that, it will be a very close game that I think they can win because I think that they will be able to run the ball and stop the run better than Denver.
However, if they come out there and don't tackle, commit atrocious penalties, and turn the ball over, it becomes a shootout and It's hard to bet against Peyton in that scenario.
I think that our defense should be able to hold up as long as the offense can move the ball and pick up 1st downs.
I think we match up well with Denver.
Last time around, the Ravens had a ton of mental mistakes that allowed the game to get out of hand. If they play a clean game, and don't turn the ball over then I can see us coming out of it with a close victory.
If the Ravens take a bunch of dumb penalties on special teams, backing the offense up or allow Denver's offense to stay on the field by taking penalties, then it could be another 49-27 game.
There is no Super Bowl hangover this year, this team should be focused so I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that
Justin Tucker nails a 55 yarder late to give the Ravens a 24-21 victory.
The fact that you Patriots fans are even here on a Ravens board arguing about this just shows how much of a joke you guys really are.
Harbaugh will carry 6 WR
Smith SR
Perriman
Aiken
Campanaro
Marlon Brown
Waller
I wasn't around then either so I couldn't tell you but that thread is pure gold
There is a faction who may even still come around that really only care about what uniforms the team is going to wear. Lol like every post is uniform related. I remember that thread it was great that everyone finally lashed back a little

People always do this. "Let's trade Kamar Aiken,Marlon Brown, and Asa Jackson for Dez Bryant"
VERY rarely are player for player trades made during the season.
We got Monroe during the season, but we traded away draft picks to a rebuilding team who was trying to stockpile a bunch of them.
There's nobody out there who is going to give away a player that can help them right now..plus it's week 2 and nobody is out of contention.
Trade isn't happening.
The Ravens just have to wait on Perriman to be able to play and hope that the offense gets better by the end of the season.
