I predict that at least two 0-2 teams make the playoffs
Hey at least we aren't the only good team that started 0-2.. Hello Seattle and Philadelphia!
To those of you who are praying that other carriers offer Sunday ticket..sorry l, bit the NFL and DTV renewed the contract last season.
I think it is just rediculous that only 1 company can monopolize on it.
I live less than an hour from the city of Baltimore...yet on a normal sunday, I will be forced to watch a Dolphins vs Texans game for example over the Ravens game.
That said, the streaming Sunday ticket service IS terrible..a friend had it and it was a waste of money.
So then you have to get DTV which good luck of its raining or slightly overcast outside.
The Ravens will be ok. They could just as easily be 2-0 right now.
The extended west coast trip I think was probably what tipped the scale against them, and they still managed to light it up on Offense. .
They win these next 3 games, and they are in 2nd place in the division at the very least.
Dean Pees isn't out on the field not covering guys.
They tried everything yesterday..none of it worked. They just got whooped on the field.
Scheme and play calling can't make up for that
While the offense could have played a little better, the defense lost us this game. You have to hold teams under 30....period.
Seriously, when the Offense scores 33 points you have to win.
The defense yesterday was garbage. They were terrible on 3rd down all day.
Yea even the great Rex Ryan can't be successful without quality players to play his scheme. Everyone has a right to voice their own opinion, but if you were a Ravens fan between the years of 2002-2008 you saw some really bad teams. Really made you appreciate guys like Ray, Ed, JO and Heap because they made the Ravens look so much better then we were at the time.
Oh yeah I remember Ed Reed's rookie season...pretty sure he single handedly beat the Arizona Cardinals and Redskins.
Jeeze, that defense took offenses with Kyle Boller and Anthony Wright and ZERO talent at WR to the playoffs a few times in that span.
We never had back to back playoff season except for in 01 after the Super Bowl when Elvis Grbac couldn't handle the pressure of managing a game behind what was still an amazing defense.
We've been spoiled over the last 7 or 8 years.
The thing is that Suggs isnt even that old. These days with all of the advancements in conditioning, and less full contact practices, these guys are playing at a high level into their late 30's and beyond sometimes..just look at Smith Sr.
There's no doubt in my mind that Suggs can return next season and play once again at a high level. Maybe now that we have some guys getting a solid years experience, they will be able to rotate Suggs more and keep him fresh/ limit chances for re injury...which brings me to the next point. ..
The Surgeons that work on these guys are the best of the best, and many times the ligament or tendon that they fix is stronger than it was before. Couple that with top flight rehab and trainers, odds are he doesn't need to retire.
Suggs seems older than he really is because he came to us at younger age than most.
In the games that matter-
Ravens over Raiders
Pittsburgh over SF
Titans over Cleveland
Bengals overror Chargers
Eagles over Cowboys
Green Bay over Seattle
Going far against the grain here- Patriots in a blow out over Buffalo
Here are my favorites
Black on Black
Purple jersey, black pants
Black jersey, purple pants
White jersey, black pants
Purple on white is OK.
I never want to see the white on white ever again lol
Good lord they were bad. I remember the game in Pittsburgh, where Rees got hurt on that Hines Ward cheap shot..I think the Steelers had 35 points before the half.Anybody remember the defense when Rex had to rely on Derrick Martin, David Pittman and Ronnie Prude? Good times
Then it hit absolute rock bottom when they let the Dolphins drive on them in OT and lose the game to what SHOULD have been an 0-16 team. Absolutely disgusting.
Also, you forgot the great Corey Ivy
I think the Oline has a bounce back game. Hurst isn't as bad as the talking heads say he is. He played very well last year.
As for today. Ravens win 27-10
Well apparently we aren't as good as the Chiefs offensively, or OC wise - whichever.
I'd take Andy Reid coaching our offense any day of the week.
Dude took some pretty mediocre Eagles teams to 5 NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl.
Michael Oher and Sergio Kindle. For the most part, they do get it right tho.
In their defense, there was no way to know that Sergio was going to crack his Mellon on the stairs. He was looking like a steal in the 2nd round. I'd say that Cody was a bigger bust than Sergio.
And both times the Ravens kept Manning from the end zone the Ravens lost. So, from a team perspective it didn't matter since the offense was inept those two games, not scoring enough points to overcome what Manning and his team's produced.
I'm just saying, it's a loss. But it's not all bad.
Going into Denver and doing that is something to build on.
I honestly dont know how fans dont have confidence after that game against the Broncos. Top pass rush, top corners, top offense....
Seriously, these bandwagoneers haven't mentioned ONCE about how we kept Manning from scoring a TD..yet again.
Good to see Tyrod play well. The jury is still out, but hopefully he can do enough to win them some games and make the race a little tighter for New England.
btw, we ran a play action fake roll out early on the first drive, Flacco nearly got killed and had 1 second to throw it.
Play action was scary, those OLB's were playing the QB every down and reacting to the run, so there was no bite on the run fake...
Another thing to remember, Kubiaks Offensive line out there in Denver wasn't exactly pushing anyone around last week.
The problem was simple, they have two excellent pass rushers in Miller and Ware, our tackles couldn't hold up. They got beat plain and simple, it wasn't scheme or coaching.
Actually, Hurst seemed to hold up at least a little better in the 2nd half than in the 1st, so you can attribute that to some coaching adjustments more than anything.
They were also sending more guys than we could block on running situations..
I'm no Offensive guru here, but if I'm Trestman, I wouldnt have called it much differently, like many people said..we had receivers getting open, but no time to get the ball out.
Here's another thing that I saw after re-watching the game..Forsett actually made a few mistakes as far as not getting into some holes that were actually there on a few plays..
Overall, Coaching I'd say was decent on offense. If I'm Trestman, I wouldn't have done much different..maybe try a few more bootlegs, and quick tosses or sweeps just to give those OLB's something else to think about, and get them running, maybe they get a little slower late in the game and you get that extra second to plant your feet and drive the ball, or find that open receiver , they were just both playing the quarterback and reacting to the run...hence why I prayed for Joe's safety on play action.
We play 4-3 , 3-4, 5-2, 46...why limit yourself?
I think next year we should open against Brownie Troop 416.
You know, so some fans can start the season with a bit more confidence.
( and I dont mean the Cleveland Browns. I mean an actual Brownie Troop )
I don't know, I'd rather face the Cleveland Browns than Brownie troop 419.
We should roll them up pretty good.
Who would ever imagine we would sign Babin. He was good with the Eagles when he played but since he is "out there" why was he not in a Eagle uniform now I prefered Lance Briggs However, why can't Upshaw, Orr or the Z man be our choices..
Upshaw is the next man up. He'll start at SAM while Dumervil will start at rush. Then guys like Z and Babin ect will rotate in during passing situations.
Babin is a one trick pony, he had a monster year in Philly in Juan Castillo's infamous wide 9 scheme, which put a ton of pressure on the tackles from the outside.
I'm sure Castillo being our OL coach played a big part in us signing him over Phillips or anyone else.
He has a sprained PCL, which takes 6-8 weeks to heal. I don't know what people were expecting.
The problem is that they refused to say anything for the longest time. The Ravens under Harbaugh guard injury information like it's Fort Knox.
So the natural fan reaction with what we knew at first was he's out as a precaution, just a bruised knee..making sure there's no fluid or things of that nature..so we're like hey where is this guy if it's not that bad?
If they said at some point that it was infact the pcl and that he would be out until after the season started, at least people wouldn't have villanized the gut so much as if he doesn't want to be out there.
