That's the insane part.
They replaced the balls at half time. After half time all the balls were with in regulation and Tom STILL tore it up.
So why bother? Why take such a chance? The risk vs. reward on that is WAY out of wack.
Aftet spy-gate, Mr. Kraft asked Billicheck this.
"On a scale of one to one hunderd, how much did this help you? "
Billicheck responded " maybe a one "
Mr. Kraft said " you are an idiot "
I understand "every little bit counts" but the risk vs. reward on this is just not worth it.
because its a routine thing they do. doubt they would do this in the championship game without the confidence of doing it successfully before. its also hard to catch them since the balls messed with are the ones the pats offense handles. fortunately, they have finally been caught.
Myth 2: Run game issues lie on Castillo
Personnel is why we sucked this year. Oher has never been good since his rookie year, Gino was unproven but apparently admired by the FO, and KO got injured. Even Yanda had struggles earlier in the year because of his rotator cuff.
Castillo's scheme worked with the Eagles and ZBS has worked wonders with the Texans. We've used the ZBS scheme in the past as well. Castillo, in fact, added wrinkles to help. The guy was such a good O-Line coach, the eagles thought he could coach defense.
Look at the PFF grades, you can't run the ball if three starters are in double negatives. Castillo was an undeserving scapegoat.
Maybe not austin, but this tells me the fo will draft a wr with their first two picks. And he will probably do well given their pedigree with replacing guys recently. mason(torrey), heap(pitta), johnson(upshaw), kruger(suggs, for most of the season), jamal lewis(ray rice).the depth we have behind q and torrey i have no faith in. ozzie will not trade up to get austin . ozzie likes to pay for wr that have no hope of ever catching a ball that matters. i have heard doss has the best hands on the team .....where did he put them , thompson same thing maybe he can but if you can't run a route and stay in bounds does it matter. no . in the end i'm a fan so it doesn't matter . but yes i will still think this idea is horrible . and i refuse to even mention david reed and wr in the same sentence thats a joke.
Kind of like how we didn't have an answer on how we were going to replace Heap or Mason when they were released.
exactly, the wide receiver class is deep. we can draft guys like justin hunter or tavon austin to bring in an explosiveness unknown to the ravens. Boldin would have made drafting for bpa complicated and would have left us cash strapped in fa.
I also believe suggs is in for some sort of pay cut next year as well if he does not somehow return to dpoy form. he is taking up 13 mill for a declining linebacker. Yep guys, this team truly is flacco's now,
@BMORE-96
"Considering, before the playoffs, boldin underperformed to his No.1 contract as a receiver,"
I would kindly suggest that this wasn't a case of Boldin underperforming, but rather a case of a good reciever not being utilized correctly by at that time an unimaginative OC! Boldin can't catch passes on the sidelines.
I am under the widely assumed thought that 7.5 million per year players, deserving of their money, especially wide receivers make plays and get open because they are exceptionally gifted despite their meandering offensive systems. Do people forget the fact that our wide receivers never got open before the playoffs and that has led to losses in the past. If boldin is strictly a slot receiver and cant be an elite outside receiver any more, it justifies a pay cut or just a plain cut from the team.
I am just fairly evaluating play, omitting playoff heroics. We have to move on guys and gals to bigger and better things. Ozzie has a plan(remember derrick mason)
I was one of them. I started a thread during the season about the possibility of cutting Boldin, extending Jacoby, and letting the young receivers compete for a starting spot. As you might have guessed, I was negged into oblivion.
I may be biased because I had the same prediction. I hereby project the ravens 1st round or early 2nd( yall know ozzie) will be a wide receiver. This player will give us a top 5 offense with us overcoming our left tackle deficiency to become better than we would have been with boldin, a receiver that mandated tight throws constantly.
this whole thread is moot http://www.nfl.com/n...cut-from-ravens he won't take a cut he is going on the market . this is the worst decision the fo has ever made .
This has been said with jarret johnson, derrick mason, and Jared gaither. Ozzie knows what he is doing. Anquan will only decline from here on out. Why not invest in younger players who will give more production relative to their position like ellerbe, pitta, and author jones.
Stop being prisoners of the moment, and think what if we draft a robert woods or tavon austin to replace and supercede boldins production.
Will this still be the fo's worst decision? I believe drafting boller or our wr busts in the 1st round was worse, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Let me say this about the impending boldin cut, it was just a matter of time. We were going to have to lose somebody deemed viable to sign ellerbe, rfas, and make the necessary fa signings.
Considering, before the playoffs, boldin underperformed to his No.1 contract as a receiver, It would have been prudent to cut him anyways. And people on this very same board predicted the same thing. Boldin is slow and does not embodoy the explosive offense we will have with Joe in the future.Sentimentality is good for a month, but the NFL is what will you do for me, not what did you do for me.
And to be honest, the only position worth taking at no.32 according to many mock drafts would be a tavon austin, deandre hopkins player(providing no dts or pass rushers fall). Not te'o or matt elam. So cutting boldin is good for the draft and cap.
Guys, get ready for even more cuts.
Vonta leach, (4 mill for fullback)
Ayanbadejo(1 mill for declining st)
Jacoby???(5 million for a 3 wr and kr)
the fo is trying to keep guys like ellerbe and make signings to preserve the longevity of the team and not to simply keep the same guys from last year. Ozzie has a plan.

the elam pick hurts to a degree. will hill comes to us, without any investment, and plays how we wanted elam to play.i call it the natural order of things. from now on, if elam plays well next to hill,or the darian stewarts or terrence brooks of the world take his spot, the defense would still do well.
