I was working at the time the Senior Bowl was broadcasted so I just started to watch the youtube most recent upload. Jeez, those jerseys make me wish I was colour blind. Is it really that hard to use a white/blue vs silver/red combination or similar? ![]()

'When asked which team he felt the best connection with during this year’s meetings, Iowa defensive back Desmond King told me the Baltimore Ravens seemed like a perfect fit for him, likening his connection with their staff to the relationship he has with his Hawkeye coaches.' (draftwire)
So they did meet, seems like, just not recently. I also misunderstood the article at first glance.
Man..Corey Clement is one great pass blocking RB

What I like about him is that he wins with very good mechanics, use of the hands and most importantly on the outside.
I like when edge guys perform some sweet inside moves in the 1on1 DL vs OL drills but I like even more when they can mix things up a little bit.
Keionta Davis basically benchpressed Justin Senior (OT, Miss St) driving him 8 yd into the backfield while maintaining control of the inside lane. Later on he beat his man with a smooth counter.
My favourite DTs are Tanzel Smart and Adams for that exact reason.. The former is the same exact copy of Javon Hargreave (who I loved last year), while I was always high on the latter due to the amount of C.Lawson tapes I've been watching ![]()
There's so much edge talent this yeear that I really hope we can double dip.
21 minutes ago, hn68wb4 said:It's not ideal, but we all know Ozzie, if they deem one of the ILBs to be BPA at either pick then you can bank on it. Foster could easily be the pick and if Jarrad Davis is on the clock at our second then he could be the pick too.
I know.. But I'd be livid. Too much talent at those positions which are way tougher to address than ILB2.
Like Drew says too, we may already have the future starter in the house. We really don't need another high pick spent in that position.
No way I want ILB to be taken in the first 2 rounds (maybe even 3-4).. Give me a Sio Moore or Kevin Minter and a late rounder to compete/rotate with Correa instead.

I feel the same way with the corners! It's nice to have this problem when the deepest parts of the draft match our team needs
Yeah that Oline was pretty bad (LT was slow off the snap at times and they had some miscomunication in that game) but he´s a solid player. He´s dominating the run game in basically every tape and he does have the ability to get to the QB. If he falls to the second is purely due to the insane competition and his not elite athleticism.
On a side note, Trey Hendrickson (DE, Fl Atlantic) is dominating the Shrine practices. He has 9.5 sacks and 10 hurries this season (per ESPN)
Nate Hairstone (CB, Temple) also stood out.. he had some amazing press-man reps.
I also liked the WR from Ole Miss. He looked very fluid in his changes of direction and pretty natural in working back his routes.
17 hours ago, ravensnation5220 said:Not all edge rushers need to have great bend to be successful. Like I said I wouldn't use him much outside yet but inside nobody is going to block him. He's too fast and too strong for gaurds to handle. He's a great character and worker and remember he's still a red shirt sophomore. Plus I'm not sure what to think of jernigan anymore....i almost forgot he was on the team the second half of this season
I feel the need to back your comment up.
I had to think of a certain 2016 top 3 guy, with a crazy punch but possessing just a decent bend.

Doesn´t it look like the Penn St - Ohio St 2015 game?
Sure, Taco is far from a perfect product and not the exact definition of pass-rusher. Bosa wasn´t either. He only possessed a better counter to attack the inside and some already great use of the hands than the Wolverine.
Not like the latter one can´t manage to do so, tho.

(there are enough similar plays in other tapes, I just wanted to make it quick this time
)
I really can´t decide how to rank these edge guys.
K.Fuller and D.Feeney are going to have their hands full with M.Adams, C.Watkins and E.Vanderdoes lining up on the other side.
Lots of interesting matchups.. Man can't wait for the DL/OL drills

You're not alone.. I've only watched 2-3 tapes of Walker and he looked pretty flat footed with few burst and motor.
I might have to go back at them but he kinda reminded me of Ogbah.

1 hour ago, rossihunter2 said:not a mock draft but daniel jeremiah's ranked top 50 prospects is interesting - particularly derek barnett #17 - in fact all of it - obviously it'll change a lot but i still think its interesting how different his first look is to most people here's consensus at the moment
Jeremiah also forgot Lawson, Cunningham, Eflein in his top 50 and wrote about McKinley that he " ... is at his best when he's shooting gaps and relying on his quickness. Overall, McKinley could struggle on run downs but he's a major force on passing downs."
Can struggle on run downs? lol
DJ and Mayock have really started to lose some ground lately.
4 hours ago, Darhk_Raven said:How would you feel about us taking Harris in the 1st if he does well enough at the Combine and then Cordrea Tankersley in the 2nd?
I know the question ain't for me but I feel like the combine won't change what I think of Harris by one bit. And I mean it, regardless of its positive or negative outcome.
He has showed often enough he has an amazing speed and a great feeling for the position. On every play in which he beats his man on the outside you clearly see he has an average bend at most (totally agree with Joey here) but he ends up winning because of his unmatched speed.
I don't know if it's any possible to work on his stiffness (and jeez.. Someone please teach him how to play the run) but the talented is there and it's undeniable.
After Laws he's my favourite 1st round pass rusher (I would put Takk right there as well but he's more of an Edge Defender than a QB hunter at this stage of his development).
I've had up on downs on this but atm I wouldn't be against him at 16.
5 hours ago, JoeyFlex5 said:im not sure about takks effort. maybe hes trying really hard and just doesnt know what to do, but he gets stationary and just locks onto tackles and kinda stands there so often.
Well, I don´t know if we´ve been watching the same player then
You know, I always politely respect yours opinion and love how many people on here love digging into tapes.. so no harm.
I agree that he doesn´t have an array of disengagement moves and he´s not the most natural pass-rusher in the class. But his effort is pretty much on display imo. He´s ralentless and plays the run with power and discipline.. he´s second to none in that. I don´t know how coachable those pass-rushing moves are but it´s definitely an easier task than teaching Harris how to stick with his assignments and foremost play with any resemblance of phisicality.
One other thing you will notice is that he´s always around the football. Proof that regardless of what side the ball is going he will chase it.
There´s a ton of plays I could mention here but I´ll post just a few. (again, if someone knows a better gif maker than this one I´m using, please let me know).
Play #1:
I had never see anybody fighting through a triple team with such a vigor.
#2:
He´s playiing MLB here. And yes he´s unblocked, but he takes off 5 yards off the LOS and is so fast that the RB doesn´t have time to come off the backfield. He finishes by changing direction almost simultaneously to the QB. That´s some serious athleticism and instinct.
#3:
A good display of strenght, as not only he stops his momentum and turns toward the QB but also maintains good leverage despite the unfavorable condition (he has exposed the left side to the T)
#4
This is quite a show of power and effort.. destroys his man and chases the RB for a TFL.
#5
Another display of great effort, chasing the QB after winning on the outside.
Careful, I´m not suggesting we should consider him before a T.Williams. Just wanting to give his skills some credit ![]()
1 hour ago, rmw10 said:I can agree with that. Even furthermore, if we do decide to really focus on needs, I like the Day 2 talent at CB much better than I like the day 2 talent at pass rusher. At this point, and I know it's 4 months before the draft - I'd be surprised if pass rusher wasn't the pick in round 1.
I´m with you there and as of now Lawson/T.White is my favourite realistic combination.
However, I´m not sure I´d still take a T.Williams/C.Harris over a falling Tabor (character concern, see our Jimmy) or Wilson (might not be the flashiest DB at the combine.
Crazy scenario: Myles Garrett is diagnosed with a weird ligament issue. Every team's doctors (except for the Ravens') believe it and he falls to us. Then Quincy Wilson failes the intervews and has an abysmal combine, which has him slide to our 2nd rounder ![]()
Realistic scenario: Carl Lawson slides because of his injuries and we get to chose between him, Charlton and Takk.. then snag a good CB in RD2 (Tankersley/Sutton).
2 hours ago, ravensnation5220 said:I also noticed the 24 hurries, however, he's labeled inconsistent because of his college career. His only full year was this year so you still have to question his longevity. The talent is there and I have no doubt that this year shows good signs of improvement
If it's because of the injuries I'd rather call him 'injury prone/unlucky'.. Inconsistent should be given to those who have 2-4 good games and then disappears for the rest of the season. Idk.
I'll add to the conversation these guys' stats (plus Charlton, Gilbert, Price, Walker and Smoot). I also included the hurries and TFLs which I found in every game's box score on ESPN. I never take stats too seriously as they don't tell you how hard was for a player to get pressures (offenses might rely almost entirely on the run game or on quick passes a la' BYU; how often a player is double-teamed,...). However, they might be useful to turn down common misperceptions concerning players skills or attitudes: I've seen many times Carl Lawson been associated with the term "inconsistent". How can a player with 24 hurries in 11 games (the only of the list to have registered >1 in every game, except for once) be labeled by such a term?
Nothing more than a quick overview.
I've also been trying to highlight each of these guys' pros and cons with the use of screenshots and GIFS but I find it annoying that every GIF keeps repeating itself without the possibility of being paused. Does any of you have a preferred GIF maker able to do so?
35 minutes ago, hn68wb4 said:Watching the Pitt v. Northwestern game and I really want Ejuan Price, he's destroying their oline, and that spin move of his is so deadly. Shall I say Freeney-esque?
Perfectly on point.. Many consider him 5th-6th rounder.. No way he gets past the 4th.
17 hours ago, BmoreBird22 said:But that's simply not the mentality of the coordinator.
One thing I noticed fairly often was that if Young/Wright drew Rogers or any of the other receivers down the depth chart, they got up in his face. If they drew Brown, they sagged back.
Are you suggesting that our opponents 4th qr comebacks this season (and in this game in particular) were caused by their WRs outplaying our DBs rather than bad coaching? Just to make it clear..
I don't have the nfl pass and can't rewatch the games to see whether there were missed assignments, bad calls oe just bad plays.
I think it's a fairly probable scenario.. Not even too optimistic considering there's always talent sliding to the second round.
I'm ok with getting rid of Doom too, as his cap figure is too high for his production, health concerns and dead money.
Pretty sure I'd stuck with Sizzle for a few more years tho. He's still a clever, valuable edge player and possibly our best DE on running plays. We definitely need a boost there, just not a major overhaul.
If the game of yesterday (and many others we've lost this way) taught us anything is that no matter what DBs you have as long as the DC mentality is to play that much off man.
How would the addition of a S.Jones change the outcome of such a game/drive?
How much would a good pass-rush help pressuring the QB with a 4 men front, instead?
If the coaches are going to be the same next year (which I surely don't hope) then OLB>>DB.
Also, if we cut Doom (6M), Watson (3M), Arrington (2M), K.Lewis (2M) without touching the contracts of Wallace, Pitta, Zuttah, Wright and Webb we'll have 13 M of savings and around 35 M of CAP space heading into 2017. That would allow us to manage those of Wagner, Juice and B.Williams with a certain degree of comfort and focus on the other more coveted positions. Pretty confident we're able to address our holes in the draft alone.
On 23/12/2016 at 11:53 PM, Jacquouille said:Charles Harris' tape against Vandy has 1st round talent written all over it. Loved how many moves he used to win his matchups, and the fact he attacked the T with a plan.
Agreed.. Too bad he gets washed on run plays.
He has zero ability to stick to his blocker to mind his gap, shread it and make the play.. You'll always see him trying to avoid contact and I don't like that.
He does have some serious pass-rush talent but how much of the run stuff game can you actually teach him?

ah ok.. thank you!
I realized I posted in the wrong thread btw .. I had too many of them open and messed up.
