My first impression is that we've had a pretty solid draft overall but I think only those teams who fill every need at a bargain price should be given an A, and to be fair our secondary doesn't look much improved.
I think there was no need of Boyle (what are we supposed to do with 4 TEs?) and we could have taken another DB there instead (Ifo, K.White, Gaines). This brings it to A-.
Then, I prefere Mike Davis to Allen.. you watch his tapes and you just can't get excited; he takes the holes he's given, without showing much vision, pretty much like Taliaferro and doesn't look like an upgrade.
Walker was a little early, probably. On the other hand we got steals in Carl Davis and Smith (who I gave a 2nd and 3rd rounder to).. I'd say A- is quite honest (for what we know so far).
"The Ravens haven't brought in kickers or punters in recent years".. Actually we didn't draft any, but we had Richie Leone last offseason, if I'm correct. What's the saying? 'You can never have enough pass rushers'?. I like the competition they brought in there.
This is because we are reviewing film, not just highlights or taking the word of someone on ESPN or NFL Network. I call the media mediots, because many of them are idiots.
Ahah mediots ;D
Luckily there are some channels which keep uploading NCAA games because even 'Draftbreakdown' contains too few material (something like 3-4 tapes per player).
I use to download most of the games direcly from those channels through YouTube Downloader, simply because 1) it's more practical than looking for them online again and again, between billions of similar ones 2) it's easier to go back spot an action using the keyboard than the youtube bar.
Once I even started to cut games into tapes with VirtualDub or Machete, but that took an amount of time I can't afford to waste anymore.. too bad.
I agree for the most part but I don't think you can really compare perriman with the likes of Dorsett Lockett and mcbride those guys are smaller and more shifty, not to mention Lockett is one of the best route runners in the draft.
No no, sure..I didn't mean to compare them as players but to stress the importance of route running applied to speed.
We all know that if being fast was everything, any tracker could play WR and run fly's all day long..
He's not meant to catch tons of bubble screens or hitches, but he can definitely work on the tree and make it harder for CBs to cover.
1) A++ Size/speed (obviously).
2) He's is more physical than Torrey is he can go up and get it and make tough catches at times.
As I stated in the previous thread, I wasn't excited last night.. I had already watched every UCF game available on youtube and today I started to watch the 2013 season.
I think he's a humble guy, with good work ethic and has great radius..
However I still don't see him worth a 1st round pick, and I'm sorry for it coz of course I always wish my team the best, but can't lie to myself.
1) you're implicitly suggesting that the recorded 40s translate into game-speed... I didn't see him beating so many players at the top of his route to justify those numbers..
Also, speed without suddenness means few.. look at the separation that Dorsett (like Lockett, McBride) gains; you won't find it in our guy's tapes unless he's facing zone coverage.
2) going up for the ball can't be considered a 'physical' skill, but purely athletic..
Infact, you don't see him working with his hands and body to gain a better position on the DB, because he relies on his passes being overthrown.
You line up a good, physical, press-man (like Nelson) against him, that makes early contact and Breshad is just not allowed to accelerate.
Not hating or trying to down the mood.. just being honest and realistic, using tapes and setting the eyes on every move.
He's a good receiver, with great potential, but my feeling is that there was no WR, nor CB worth that pick and we reached a bit.. that makes me a little skeptical on this pick.
Howevever, I hope he'll be able to work on his routes and become one awesome player.. wish him nothing but the best. ![]()
Personally, I hope they NEVER play in London, who wants to watch football at 9:00 AM!
Something like.. lots of us european fans.
Having ONE chance in a lifetime to see them live would be awesome for me.
Pit game was at 2.30 and despite the result and the three hours of sleep (the day before an exam) I would do it all again and again.
