btw I really liked Billings as a prospect and I thought about him as a pure nose or 1t to rotate inside.
Too bad I have some other positions to address first. Nice pick
Italian Raven replied to Mt. Crushmore's topic in Fantasy Talk
Crush won't be able to make picks on my behalf for some time, is there anybody willing to take me few guys left on board when needed?
other way I just go on autoskip and select one whenever I find some time for it.
Italian Raven replied to Mt. Crushmore's topic in Fantasy Talk
That would be one crazy competitive division.. not sure any actual NFL div has 3 coaches who are that good.
ahahah too bad I thought he had been selected already.. I'd have taken him ahead of Zimmer
Italian Raven replied to Mt. Crushmore's topic in Fantasy Talk
ok guys..my bad.. as I said I hust woke up after less than 5 hours of sleep and my eyes were still half closed. The initial letters must have been the thing driving me wrong
Italian Raven replied to Mt. Crushmore's topic in Fantasy Talk
wasn't Dixon selected by thieverycorporation like in round 7 or somewhere there? I'm on the mobile and half asleep..forgive me if I'm wrong..I'm not at the top of my condition
Italian Raven replied to Mt. Crushmore's topic in Fantasy Talk
exactly.. I rather get the top guys on board and build around such a unit, making it one of the very bests, rather than limit myself to a top15-20QB and go balanced.. we also have to consider that great Ds limits opponent points, but first and foremost help your O hit the field often enough to put up points, even if it's just FG. Ds basically control the clock..
One other approach if you're selecting in the mid-low tiers is also to build up a great Oline early, but if teams can cut through your Dline like a hot knife does with butter you're going to have some hard times.
Italian Raven replied to Mt. Crushmore's topic in Fantasy Talk
I likely have the worst QB and O-line, but my D (particularly the front-7) makes up for those deficiensies.
Also, from the way I started to build my team, I didn't think I would end up with a decent receiving corp.. but after all it's a pretty competitive one.
Jones is a good mid and deep threat. Funchess will never be a top tier WR but has a high floor and will work well in the short routes as a possession target.
Gates is good both at blocking and catching.. I miss 1-2 pieces there but I'll be better than expected.
Italian Raven replied to Mt. Crushmore's topic in Fantasy Talk
@allblackraven thanks
I know I won't get more than 1-2 years from Gates, but the same can be said for guys like Fitzgerald and S.Smith who went much earlier. My need for overall good players on that side of the football played a big part here, and Gates is still one of the best at his position, despite the age. Can't be said, given that he's been one of my top 5 targets for almost 2 rounds.
Italian Raven replied to Mt. Crushmore's topic in Fantasy Talk
Nothing too flashy, but Funchess isn't scared to run through the middle.. most (if not all) of his TD catches were posts or slants. There aren't many possession WRs left and he's young, so he would've time to build some chemstry with Cutler, if he doesn't get sacked in 0.5sec.
Italian Raven replied to Mt. Crushmore's topic in Fantasy Talk
ehehe yea still some important rounds to go, but even then, I'm not sure I'll match your interior O-line by the end of the draft I love Kelly and have close to no doubt he'll do crazy good in the pros as well.
Italian Raven replied to Mt. Crushmore's topic in Fantasy Talk
yup.. glad I ran on pass-rushers as early as I did. there's a significant drop off from round 5-6 on.. now there's basically nothing left.. only chance is to pull the trigger on some rookies or underperforming sophomores.
Italian Raven replied to Mt. Crushmore's topic in Fantasy Talk
Yes I think there's enough valuable options left at ILB and WR.. sure not top tier players but serviceable ones.. both have better depth than CB and Oline atm
Italian Raven replied to Mt. Crushmore's topic in Fantasy Talk
my fav teams at the moment are: @allblackraven and @52520Andrew because they're overall the most solid imo..
Half Moon Bay has a top 10 front 7, possibly a top 5 O-line (with the best LG-C-RG combo in Incognito-Kelly-Yanda), and likely the best TE duo in Olsen-Gillmore.
Space Broncos also have a very good O-line and two potential pro bowlers in Benjamin/D.Johnson. Sure the team's lacking options for Goff at the moment and LBs to help the run but how not to love the Poe-Donald duo. Secondary is above average, too. @Deflated Football needs some help on the D-line because it might be too easy to run on that unit, but that's a pretty good O-line and the WR core represents a problems for any defense..
idk, maybe at the end of the season we might want to award the top 3 teams in each category (D-O) or unit.. don't know if you discussed it already..just a thought
Italian Raven replied to Mt. Crushmore's topic in Fantasy Talk
yeah I remember he was very popular around the forum but he was by far the worst blocker in the class and not much more than a 3rd down kind of back.. imo he's not that different from Dixon, with the main difference being the "price". Honestly I don't exactly remember Abdullah pros and cons in this moment..I think to remember he was a much better outside-the-Ts runner than inside; pretty good vision and quickness but with a lack of power and ability to break tackles.. I just have the feeling the Lions reached for him while we got one of the biggest draft steals (on paper). We'll see how the two picks pan out in the long run.
Italian Raven replied to Mt. Crushmore's topic in Fantasy Talk
@NFLfan123 nice job man.. personally, I wouldn't have taken a second RB (especially Abdullah.. I didn't like him in the second round at all), but the rest looks very good imo. Hard to find decent starters at this point. btw I just added your picks to the big board
Italian Raven replied to 757RavensFan's topic in Ravens Talk
if we keep playing those bootlegs and ask him to run flats he's still a valuable option, especially in the red zone when teams tend to play man-coverage and blitz more often as he gains outside leverage. He's definitely a solid ST contributor. So he is the quintessential of 'versatility'.
From a market standpoint he has a small leverage. He's due to a decent 750k and, even though we did make cuts for few money in the past, I don't think this would be quite a reason here. Neither he had any serious injury to.
However, we might have Maxx lining up in different ways, even at FB on I-formation (given what he did at MinnU); thus I wouldn't really consider Juice unrepleacable.. we moved on from Trawick, a darn good ST tackler, and we ended up being more than fine.
Just like rmw I also think it's pretty unlikely to see him cut but, despite his versatility and relatively low cap number, the FB role is only marginal and the roster spot is far from being complacent.
