  1. In all honesty Flacco missed wide and i mean WIDE open receivers. Not sure what he was looking at at some points in the game. But there were many bright spots. Aikens did show a glimpse, Allen is a force in the backfield and Mosley is not allowed to cover anymore..

I do not know if Pees is all to blame here though. I mean he did some bad play calls but our Defense seems to slack off. They have not played for an entire complete game of solid ball all season. Not sure if it is stamina or what and the penalties just have to stop.

  2. Gary Barnidge killed us.  Gary.  Barnidge.  Let that sink in.

There's no more sugarcoating it for me.  This is just a bad team right now.  QBs stay way too comfortable in the pocket because they know there's not much pressure coming off the edge.  We all know that we lack any sort of game changer on offense right now.  It's ugly.

LMAO now that is my quote of the week. SMH, yes he did.

  3. I was at one time a HUGE Flacco critic. This year is entirely a new scenario. With limited weapons, no protection and playing very good defenses at the start of the season Flacco has not had an easy road. I am very happy he has a short memory in that respect and continues to pick himself up to give the team another good effort.

I do think if given more reps Aiken and Waller will come around. I had a lot of hope for Brown as i loved his fire after the catch. I think that is what hurts him though with the dropped balls. He looks ahead to where his next few moves are before securing the ball.

  4. Kubiak knew our line was weak and designed our offense to get the ball out quickly. I just hope this season does not stick with Joe. He is starting to gain some very bad habits from having to get rid of the ball to early and the interceptions and horrible decisions speak for themselves.

Flacco is not to blame. He is a product of what he is given in time by the O'line and the lack of talent he has available.

  5. Hate to tell you...  Jimmy isn't horrendous.  Either is Will Hill.  The unit isn't getting the cohesion it needs.  Chemistry is not there.  And it has to be, just like on the offense.

Coming back from a Lisfranc injury and trying to keep up with the likes of Cooper and Green????  Just sayin.  Keep your eyes out there and see how many people can actually do that, even when they've not had one of those injuries and are healthy.

You mean like when Jimmy plays ten to fifteen yards off of a receiver on a 3rd down with four yards to advance the chains ? Or when he gets burned deep consistently ? Being aggressive is one thing if you have help behind you but he knows as well as we do that the help is not there. When i see a DL making tackles 30 yards down field and Smith on his butt along with Melvin and Hill not making the same play it kills me. Yesterday 51 was making plays down field while NONE of the deep guys could.

Smith reminds me of Boller but on defense. Has all of the attributes to be good and we invest years and a ton of cash and in the end it is a waste. If he even would show consistent play in any one area like tackling, covering, anything it would be different but he doesn't. He obviously is not the only problem but he is not a shut down corner we are paying him to be.

He scares no QB, they test him and he fails every game. But yet here we are investing top money in a injury prone mediocre talent.

  6. id beg him to stay on for one more year after this team is rebuilt.

I am not sure what you mean by being "rebuilt" ? What will we do different this off season that we have not done the last 3 or 4 ? We still need 2 corners as none of ours can cover game after game nor can the defense finish a game. Our offensive line is just that "offensive" to watch and we still need one or two decent WR's. Not to mention we need a Safety as Hill clearly is not the answer. How do we fill those needs while still doling out all of the salaries ?

Already knowing we do horrible in drafts when it comes to all of the positions i just mentioned. I just do not see a quick fix and surely not one that would coax Smith back for another year as he hates to lose.

We need to fix the O'line firstly as it all starts with Flacco feeling comfortable. Most of his passes have been off and it is all due to not setting the feet. You fix the O'line and the scoring will keep us more then in games. The defense is a much more harder issue. The next man up philosophy is not cutting it. The well is dried up of talent at every CB and safety position and we need a resolution. Not reassurance and word games. I mean Jimmy Smith at best so far is a #2 corner, never has shown reliable skills in back to back games. Almost willing to say back to back quarters.

  7. Also, what is with all of those game changing penalties??

Refs need to let the boys play.

They stated yesterday (they being the announcers) that if penalties arise they have to call them as they get graded and judged as well. So they have to do their jobs. Just be more consistent.

My take on yesterday is that on a few of the plays Melvin played like he was just not in the same league. Not saying he is the blame but someone needs to cover. I am shocked with Will Hill's play. It is as if he cannot see a play developing nor see where her needs to be. Would not have been surprised if at some point he ended up in the huddle. He looked that lost yesterday.

The penalties are getting out of hand as well. But that is the entire league. We already had a league high last week by a large margin.

  8. Well to me, the Ravens offense seems to always suffer a lot offensively and not just a "bit" which also in my estimation...always seem to manifest in games like this one.  Again, imo our team's talent level on the offensive side of the ball leaves something to be desired in comparison with other teams (in general).

I agree with you. It seems like feast or famine with the offense. Either things go perfect or fall apart quickly. Not sure if it is the competition that we play against or we need things to fall in our favor for success. Usually good offensive teams find ways to put points up in any situation and we do not.

  9. Dang we signed Babin? This dude is insane he hunts bears, literally. He'll fit right into our culture toughness wise.

I remember I liked him when he played that wide 9 position in Philly. He's obviously older now, but I like the signing.

See now that is what i was hoping to read. I am excited as well and it seems we lost that nasty edge we had all of those years. Offenses did not seem as worried or intimidated by us at all the last few years. I remember sitting and watching teams going for first down attempts on 4th down like we had no chance of stopping them.

That would never have happened in years past. We need that fire again. Suggs is a hyper guy but can only impact the game in so many ways. I love the signing a lot. Lets hope he can set that edge still.

  10. Yeah, all Waller did was disregard the notion that he couldn't run routes and actually run many short and intermediate routes, consistently show improvement, show the ability to use his frame to box out defenders, show good hands, actual get separation (against 2nd and 3rd stringers before it's mentioned).  He didn't do much at all....unless you were actually paying attention to him.  And no, this is not me anointing him as the next HoF candidate (since people here can't differentiate giving credit and proclaiming and all-star).

I must have missed what y'all saw.  Webb was beat all night.  Committed a bad penalty because he was beat.  Spent most of the night chasing Sanders and was lucky Peyton threw off target a few times.  Webb was rightly abused last night but thankfully the front 7 got enough pressure on Peyton to mask it.

Webb did get beat on that play but what he did was save the play from being a scoring play.  I would have done that as well. I think he got beat off of the line if i am thinking of the same play so what choice did he have but slow him down and save it from being a scoring drive.

  11. I think and hope as well Ravens2343 that this is the start of Webb being the Webb we want and need. I think it was a confidence thing and catching back up to the speed of the game. He needed the Broncos game to show himself he still can be productive.

I think the same about Jimmy Smith. I really believe yesterday he showed his next step in being a true shutdown corner who is physical and can fight for the ball.

Arrington was who i was really hoping to see sparks from he was outshined by Webb and Smith with tackles and coverages.

  12. You guys are way too confident. Khalil Mack will live in the backfield.

I'm assuming Jimmy will  be on Crabtree so Cooper will consistently be open when Webb is 15 yards away from him.

But I figure Oakland will be able to out-terrible us.

You do not think Webb had a solid game against Denver ? I thought he showed signs of the old Webb. Our corners will be fine this year and even with Suggs out we have enough speed to get pressure. We are big, physical and fast on the defense. Our showing against one of the best arms in the history of the NFL did a lot to boost our defenses confidence and they did not allow a TD.

I agree that Mack wil be on Flacco but "IF" we could find time to make some quick passes to our TE corps we should be able to maintain drives and he will tire out on long drives which will make him a mute point.

  13. I agree that the Offensive line should have to take the walk home. Flacco was a nervous wreck by the 4th quarter. Not setting his feet, never got comfortable and started forcing passes and that causes the interceptions. This was the first game i watched in a long time and thought it would be a blow out but our defense was very tough and Jimmy is showing some promise. I love the adjustments he made in the second half. Started playing the receivers tighter and playing physical. This may be his turn around year. Confidence is showing.

WOW to Webb, he played a good game, showed signs of his old self, made some fantastic tackles. Sad part for me was Suggs, got to give it to the guy, he tried to walk off the field but the pain had to be tremendous.

All and all it was a very good game and i think we will be fine this year. After all we did play the Broncos. They are not a bad team by any means and we held our own.
