That is a bit bold of a statement Tank92 Not only did we get beat at Cincy we took a beating in all phases of the game. And that is with quite a few of their best players out. We were the red headed step child in that game. They came out to play and prove a point and it surely was made.
I do not think coaching is the sole blame here. you can only teach so much, it is how the players react in clutch situations and we did not fair so well. We shot ourselves in the foot many times on the field. The team needs a leader on both sides of the ball. Ray would have lit some tails up the way our D played. On offense Joe in an average QB and surely not a leader nor do i think he wants to be.
This dismal season has to be owned by the entire organization from Steve B down to the water boy. lol

He did not have to, they said nothing was going to change so he needed not attack anyone. So be happy with another losing season with awful QB play, a TE who has no idea how to find a first down marker and a coach who pulls points off of the board time and again year after year. Flacco is the most frustrating QB in the league with zero pocket presence and really bad decision making. Pitta is his go to guy which says A LOT to our losing trend for drives not being extended.
As far as getting a decent receiver, why would they come here knowing what others have went through. Their numbers will drop, they will lose more often and Joe does not care, nor does Harb's. I could go on and on but why. The bulk of Ravens "company" seems happy as long as their pockets get filled.

The last sentence is also hilarious. "If we can carry Joe to the playoffs", the guys is getting paid $20 million a year. Should anyone be having to carry him to the playoffs??
Exactly LMAO !! Heck if you can carry me all week i am pretty sure i can cash the paycheck.
10 - 6 seems in reach. Of course the bulk of the wins coming at home.
Green Bay, Steelers and Cincy are the three away that i have us losing for sure. Along with the Raiders and Minnesota.. The Titans and Miami are games that could go either way.
If i had to choose, the only option that would seem possible is an elite Defense. Too have an elite offense it all starts with the QB. Flacco is not elite nor is he even a good game manager. Poor choices, timid throws and an attitude that just says he could care less. Not to mention a head coach who just feels the need to make god awful calls that cost us games so the OC does not have full control.
On defense though#1 corner and find a decent pass rush we would have something special there.
I do not understand how Marty is the entire issue with the offense. He did not make Joe throw the int's in the end zone and am thinking influences from Harbaugh have helped to abandon the run game. You have to admit that Harb's play calling has been very suspect and cost us games. I think if left to call the game without others 2 cents being added in he will be ok. Just needs to be able to trust Joe's decision making which is taking a big leap in faith as Joe has proven to be less than the sharpest tool in the shed.
We went through 2 OC's and have had the same exact problems. Look at Harb's. His finger prints are all over it. Stevie B needs to remind him that he is no offensive guru and to leave it to the guy that gets paid to run the offense.
I find it funny that Pitta and Flacco do not see a O,C, change. I would not want one either, they might want those two too earn their money. Pittas nickname should be "stop short" for not knowing where the 1st down marker is and with Flaccos "I dont care either way" attitude. I am starting to think Ray Lewis was right when he said Joe plays with no passion. He is like, oops oh well another interception in the red zone. Man this season irritated me so much.
Sorry for the rant but i do feel better now that i have gotten it out.. lol

LOL, it does not matter if he is free in space or not. How many times have receivers been open and just need to be led to keep stride for nice gains and Flacco either under throws it, over throws it ? Hard to gauge a receiver in any type of way when you have a QB that was so off as Flacco was this year. Joe always threw a pretty deep ball but this year he played like crap and no matter what receivers we had it would have been useless. I hope he comes back close to normal next year
I honestly feel bad for SSS, he did not deserve to go without a ring and he ended up with us in our temporary slump.

When the same exact issues occur when you change OC's that tells me Harb's has his special teams mind involved in the offense and he needs to leave it alone.
If he is a magician he is an awful one.
You know Ozzie's motto and his go to move already friends. Right player right price and always trade the first round pick to move down to get more picks so he can be wrong on drafting many other players. Is why we have been lacking for a number of years in many areas. The only difference is that now we are so very thin at almost every important spot that the injuries hurt more.
But we really cannot blame t all on Oz. We need to look at the top to wonder why he settles for the mindless wanderings that are Oz's draft procedures.
I love Joe but as everyone states all of the time the NFL is a business and Joe needs to play full tilt all season and not just be known for Mr. post-season. Hell, if i just showed up for work only on pay day i would be out of a job very quickly.. LOL Seriously, Joe has all of the talent when he is motivated so he needs to show it every week (like his "job" depends on it).

Agreed, Pitta has not shown to be anything special since his return. A terrible blocker, dropped a few TD's passes and just was not the guy we waited for to return. Just let him go already. We have very good talent on the sidelines just eager to get their shot.

I am not sure why everyone is so high on bringing rex back. It would in no way bring back the defense he had in his tenure here. Too many players with very different skill sets have changed. Ral Lewis was a once in a lifetime guy, Ed Reed played by his own rules and could have cared less what Ryan said. Our Linemen do not even have the same agility and size. Rex was a success due to the players just like Brian was. The team won despite those 2 "coach's".
That defense could adjust to cover each others weaknesses, this defense barely knows their own roles let alone cover up others weaknesses.
I think like the original poster had mentioned, we need to get rid of the ones who cannot stay healthy firstly, Keep the defense full throttle the entire 60 minutes and not play our prevent and bring back a heavy hitter like Pollard so if the passing game cannot be stopped at least the middle of the field will be a scary place to roam..
On offense we need to either pick a run first or a pass heavy offense then build a decent line to play to which ever strategy we choose (hopefully run first). That way we eliminate relying on Joe so much and let him just become a manager as he is not a game changing QB.
I think we have the right players. All show they can get after the QB and apply pressure. I think you hit it on the head about questioning the scheme. All of our defensive guys play like Ravens. Some may be just too small to be physical (Weddle} but our guys have the right stuff to get the job done. Some may even be inexperienced but after this year hopefully most of the growing pains will be gone.
The way i am thinking about Flacco is that he had this season to get over his fear of stepping into his throws and sending those bullets we all love instead of soaring them high or lobbing them in. The ball had way too much time in the air this season and it shows in his int/td stats. If he comes back next season still afraid to set his feet and throw rather than off of his back foot then we need to decide. A QB who plays scared is useless. Kind of like a horse with a broken leg, would be time for the pastures.
He played timid and weak all season and i am guessing at this but i would say 30$ of his passes were way off of the target and the receivers paid the price.
Thinking about the draft and the possibilities i started wondering just how many decent players careers were wasted by being drafted by the Brows, Raiders and others over the years due to not being developed correctly. It is like a black hile. The browns have had the great positions for ever and where does all of the hopeful talent go ?
On 12/18/2016 at 6:44 PM, Adreme said:Its not going to be his last year because the Ravens are a good organization and good organizations do not just roll over coaches constantly.
As to what they see they probably see more than you are. The job of a head coach is not just whether to go for it on 4th down, its game preparation, player development, and being able to get the most out of the talent you have. In all of those fields unless you are putting blinders on you can not argue that John Harbaugh has been exceptional and that is why his job is safe.
That is what gets me, good organizations do not have a revolving door for coach's but yet the teams engine (offense) has been just that, a revolving door for coach's. It is like the OC is always the fall guy. How can you expect consistent play when the offense is always in a state of change. So hypocritical. We need to pick an OC and give him total control and make Hatb's keep his opinions to himself. His calls are not only hurting the team and losing games for us but it just puts the players at odds with each other when they lose.
So i say Harb's keep your offensive play calling at home. You were a special teams guy and nothing more. Stop trying to coach beyond what you know. Leave the offensive play calling to the guy you hired to do the job.
Good - Was a great Christmas.. The running game did well again.
Bad - Breshad taking very hard hits across the middle, BUT came right back and made a very nice play.
Ugly - Most folks would say the defense looked awful but i see it as the defense kept the Steelers quiet for 3 quarters of the game but the last 2 drives they went back to playing off and giving the offense too much room. Not sure if that was a Pees call or what but it was a great game in my eyes and did not disappoint. A very tight game and hard fought on both sides.
So, no paly-offs this year. it cannot happen every year right. Was a fun season none the less.
Merry Christmas, dear friends, one and all and a happy new year as well.
I hate to wish bad things on such a good day but here is to hoping the Ravens whoop some Steeler butt this evening..
Go RAVENS !!
Folks keep mentioning Bell. He never worried or impressed me at all. He is slow and has such a huge delay before he decides where he wants to go. Our defense is so fast towards the ball that he becomes a non issue as always against us. I wish folks, even our own Baltimore fans would give the team some credit. We do a lot of things so well but the few things we do wrong are always the talk and it gets old.
Bell had a single game with over 100 yards against us, yeah he always hurts us. Here are the stats i am going by.
11 hours ago, BmoreBird22 said:Errrr... the pass rush gas been pretty invisible, so not sure where you'd get this idea...
To me a pass rush is working if it pressures the QB and hurries his decision to throw or become mobile and not just ending up in a sack. We get in the backfield often enough that a QB does not get to comfortable. And now that we have Doom and Suggs back it will only be better.

Thanks friend, will try that now, Happy Holidays.
Just saw that Jimmy is out and in a way it is a void out for me as i think Tavon can go step for step with Their best receivers where as Jimmy, no matter how good we think he is still has terrible feet and stumbles a lot. If it were not for our D'line Jimmy would have been burnt more often this year.

I do not understand what i just read about us looking for another RB. We have a fine set already and could not use them correctly so why on earth do we need another RB ? Are the issues with not implementing the run game Dixon's fault. The guy can move the ball when he is asked to. Would rather spend the time, effort and money on making the O'line better and then use the run game more. Would help the entire team.
