Just because teams know Monroe will be cut if he can't be traded, doesn't mean they'll wait. If he's cut, he has the choice of where he signs and for what money. If a team only has to give up a late round pick to assure they get him, it's reasonable. So if a less appealing team wants him, they know they'll be competing against other more appealing teams if Monroe is cut. So giving up a 6th-7th round pick to assure you get a starting LT isn't a bad thing.
