  1. Ozzie alert!!!!! KC is going to have to cut some defensive starters. I hope they are corner backs. Grab their defensive players. FYI...it is likely KC will have the best defense in the league and we will end up playing them min the AFC CH Game. So take their defensive backups they cant afford to keep....they are the best in the NFL. Reid and Harbaugh are of one mind.....defense wins championships. Don't let KC hide their defensive talent overflow on the practice squad
  2. Frankly I'm surprised we haven't seen it already. Tim Jennings should already be a Raven and starting week one opposite Smith. Forget the money, he is a very good corner that would fit in very well with Smith, Arrington, Hill and Lewis. The rest of the corners on our roster are backups, and that includes Webb, Melvin, Vaughn ,Walker and Jackson. Any time any one of them is on the field we are vulnerable. Get a starting NFL corner and we have one of the best secondaries in the league. Right now it is probably top 10 if nobody gets hurt.
  3. When I see that video I can only think one thing......sick. It's clear that 2 men are require to bring him down and even that is not a guarantee. I'm pissed that the rest of the NFL will get to see this prior to week one. He will draw double coverage all year long but I don't think that will stop him. Forget Perrimamn, Gilmore is the one every DC will fear.
  4. If Raven's fans liked what Flacco developed with Pitta then they are going to love what he does with Gilmore. IMO Gilmore will become the greatest TE in raven history, all due respect to Heap and Pitta. This guy is super tough and will punish any one that tries to def3end him. He said he was a blocker and that is true, a big time force. When Williams matures, which looks like very soon, they will be the #1 TE tandem in the NFL. With an offensive line like the one we have, we are going to punish defenses and take our time doing it. I will go out on a limb and say Gilmore is unstoppable. I'm sure Joe and Trestman are licking their chops. What I will say for sure is that this will not be a finesse offense. Having Yanda, Wagner and Gilmore lined up on the right side will require a defense to over commit and then the game begins. This is a TE dominated league and the Ravens will set the bar. I cautiously predict 15 TDs and over a 1000 yards for Gilmmore.
  5. Gilmore.....he came into camp bigger, stronger and faster. That's downright scary. This guy many turn into the best 6th round draft pick in Raven's history. He also might be the most dominant TE in the NFL this year. The way he finished last year was an indicator of what he can do. Denver is in for a shock. Flacco and Trestman will find a dozen ways to get him open and then it's on from there. At 6'6 and 270 there is no defensive LB or DB he can't run over. IMO he could end up being the Raven's MVP and a consensus pro bowl TE. He is sure handed and takes hits after the catch like they are an inconvenience. His "mosquito" quote was priceless but also very accurate. Watching NFL LBs and DBs bounce off him was eye=popping. The good news is it is going to happen again....a lot.
  6. Butler would have made the team but the injury to Taliaferro requires them to keep Toussaint (or Magee, a 4th back regardless)so he goes to the practice squad. Once Taliaferro is healthy then they will cut the 4th back and bring Butler back if he clears waivers. Either Brown or Orr gets cut, IMO it will be Orr. Hard to believe but they have to keep Reid, they need at least 9 offensive lineman. I think they cut Robert Myers???
  7. Harbaugh has mothballed Perriman. They already saw all they needed to see...he is the real deal and a game breaker. He will take the field in week one. Just his presence changes/limits what a defense can do. They can't load up against the run and become more susceptible against play action....the bread and butter of our offense. We need possession receivers and we've got them in spades...Smith, Gilmore, Williams, Forsett, Juscyck, Aiken and Brown. Trestman is very underrated as an OC. He has been dealt a great hand in Baltimore with a top notch offensive line and a proven winner with a shotgun arm in Flacco. I swear Flacco and Trestman are a match made in heaven. Both very intelligent a Flacco has the arm to execute any gameplan they choose. Remember one thing, Flacco's arm strength makes all his receivers more effective. He made Torrey Smith. He turned Boldin into an unstoppable force which they chose to reveal in the playoffs. Running the West Coast offense is like shooting fish in a barrel for Flacco, mainly because of the strength of his offensive line. The Ravens offense will be very effective and lead the league in time of possession. This will give the defense every advantage they should need and will make them a top 10 unit as long as Jernigan and Jimmy Smith stay healthy.
  8. Pitta is done. Every one including him and especially his doctors know he should be thankful to heal and walk again. Forget about playing in the NFL, he could end up in a wheel chair for life. Urban will go on the IR designated to return. A little deer antler spray and he'll be good in no time. Suggest he move in with Ray Lewis and follow his recovery program.
  9. He is great to have for quality depth in the secondary. I even like him at corner, more than Webb or Jackson. Welcome back Terrance. You can't teach speed.
  10. I've lost confidence in Webb. Never did he look anything remotely like a starting NFL corner last year. He looked lost out there. He was a big part of the reason we didn't beat the Patriots and missed going to the Super Bowl. Melvin was actually our best corner. We wouldn't suffer a bit if they cut Webb and signed Tim Jennings who was just cut from Chicago yesterday. Campanaro coming back improves his chances to make the team. The roster is very tight this year. Releasing Means is an example of the consequences of being injured all the time. If Camapanaro gets injured again between now and Sept 4 he'll be cut as well. I think Harbaugh is sitting Jernigan out because he doesn't want to risk any further injury to him. Harbaugh has been known to sand bag like this and I think it's the smart thing to do. I hope he is ready for Denver. I look for Ozzie to pick up another CB asap as they just let Jacobs go and Trawick is next. I don't think they are happy with Vaughn either so if they can get another veteran corner they will. For right now however you can bet it's Smith Arrington and Melvin, no matter if Webb is healthy or not.
  11. Jackson will be kept on as a backup corner and KR. Forget Trawick and Webb...they are history. Forget Reid, he's done. Later to Zach Orr and Albert McClellan. Campanaro and Carter...nice knowing you. We can't afford guys that are injured all the time. Sleepers that will make the team this year are Waller,Boyle, Bikuldi, Vaughn, and Toussaint. If the Ravens are quick enough to pick up Tim Jennings then Vaughn or Walker will be gone as well.
  12. He just won the returner job IMO. Campanaro is getting cut, being hurt ALL the time is a luxury we can't afford. No room for Carter either. This 53 man roster is the tightest I've seen it in years. Reid is gone too. So are Webb and Trawick. So is Zach Orr and maybe one of the following: Means/McClellan/Brown. The roster is just too tight. Now that Taliaferro is injured we have to keep either Toussaint or McGhee to start the season. With Pitta on PUP/IR we have to keep Boyle as well. With Tyson and Jernigan sufferring some type of injury it wouldn't even surprise me if the kept Bikuldi. We only have Davis, Williams, Canty and Guy healthy on the defensive front right now and that won't cut it. But Jackson will start as the returner. If he fumbles Steve Smith or Aiken/Butler will get the call. With the depth we have this year guys that keep getting injured are going to be finally let loose: Camapanaro, Webb, and Reid being the most prominent. They will give Perriman a year but if he doesn't heal up and deliver he'll be a casualty next year as well.
  13. The guy is the same size as Gronk and he looked like him on that play for sure.
  14. Don't worry about the secondary. When Smith plays it will be a very good unit. Without him it is average at best. We've known that since last year.
  15. Gilmore is a beast. He will be a force this year. He may end up with more TDs and catches than anyone on the team. He was unstoppable on that TD catch and run. He may end up being the best TE in Raven history before he is through. I think Smith, Brown and Aiken will be our 3 principle WRs. If Perriman ever recovers he will get on the field as well. With the 53 man roster as tight as it is, I think the oft-injured Campanaro is a luxury we will not be able to afford. Waller and Butler get the other two spots. Smith or Aike can line up in the slot. Jackson just won the KR job, that's the end of that story. I hope Tyson is ok, we need him for depth. But Davis, Williams, Jernigan and Canty will be carrying the mail up front this year. Looks like it's Melvin, Smith, Arrington, Hill and Lewis starting in the secondary. They could end up being pretty good if they stay healthy. Brooks and Vaughn may also get on the field some but the less the better. Walker, Jackson and Levine all stay as backups as well. Webb, Trawick, Jacobs, et al.... any or all of these guys are getting cut. Linebacker is where the cuts are going to sting a little....McClellan, Orr, Means and Brown: 2 out of these 4 are getting cut. It will be interesting to see what they do about Reid, Jensen and Myers. My guess is that one of these guys gets cut. Probably Reid. First team is pretty strong but our reserves are not quite as good as I thought they would be. So we need to avoid injuries to make a deep playoff run.
  16. Flagrant attempt to injure another player should get at least a 4 game suspension and at least 100k fine.
  17. Only one real question: Perriman.
  18. Hill is a potential probowler. The secondary with Hill, Smith, Lewis, Arrington and Melvin/Vaughn will be one of the best in the league. They just need to stay healthy. Brooks should get on the field as well. This type of back end is what we need to be a top 5 defense or better. Congrats to Will Hill for growing up, just in time. We owe the Giants one, they must be sick.
  19. We weren't a deep ball offense last year and we wont be this year. The running game and play action will be our bread and butter. The deep ball will be used to keep defenses honest when they start bringing up the safeties. This offense will be better than last year. Trestman is a really smart guy and has a lot of weapons. Execution and no turnovers is all we need to be one of the top 10 offenses in the NFL. With our defense that should amount to a great season.
  20. Smith, Brown and Aiken will be at wide receiver. This will be fine since we also have Gilmore and Williams to complement them. That is all the targets that Flacco needs. Getting Campanaro and Perriman back healthy will be gravy. The whole secondary will be far better with a healthy Jimmy Smith. Melvin or Vaughn are fine at corner as long as Smith, Hill, Lewis and Arrington are on the field with them. We really need Davis and KLM to step up. If they do we will have one of the best defensive front sevens in the NFL. The offensive line looks great. There are no injuries that worry me whatsoever. KR/PR is an area of interest. ONE GOAL...DON'T FUMBLE. This team can win a lot of games. The biggest factors in close games (as always) will be not turning the ball over and running the ball in the 4th quarter. Justin tucker is our ace in the hole.
  21. Why does everyone think the Steelers have any chance at all?? They may end up with the worst defense in the NFL. The loss of Pouncey and Suisham will cost them 2-3 wins this year at least. Their offensive line was mediocre at best before the loss of Pouncey. The Ravens dominated them in the first game last year and in the playoff game. The Steelers have not improved but actually deteriorated. They are starting from scratch to rebuild their defense which lost LeBeau, Polamalu, Worilds, Taylor and Keisel. And they are doing it with a rookie defensive coordinator. I wish we could play them 16 times this year. We have a tough schedule but 12 wins is very possible with the depth and quality we have this year. If the secondary holds up we should have a top 5 defense and at least a top 10 offense. I'm very interested to see if a team this good can go out and play to their potential every week. We'll get to see right away in Denver. They have a weak offensive line but a top notch secondary. Our defense will have to let Manning see the game from his back. Kubiak knows this so he will focus on quick short throws to help the O line out. Our linebackers and corners will have to defend the pass much better than they did against NE in last year's playoff game. I feel much better with Jimmy Smith healthy. We will need a big game from Arrington in the slot. A win against Denver on the road would be a great way to start the season. Run the ball and no turnovers should get it done.
  22. Brown should have a big year now that Torrey is gone. It may take a while for Perriman to get on the field with his knee problem so Brown will have a big role. He has a lot of experience and is a big target. With Brown, Waller and Gilmore on the field Flacco should be able to find one of them. They make a fierce red zone package.
  23. I think Toussaint is a better back right now just due to his experience. I bet he gets the backup role. He's bigger and tougher than Allen. I thought he looked very good last year in the preseason. I hope he does the same in the next two preseason games. He, Allen and McGhee should all get a lot of carries. Forsett shouldn't even get on the field. IMO we shouldn't ever play a single starter in any preseason game. They are worthless and the injuries aren't worth it. Just let all the rookies and 2nd/3rd/4th team guys have fun.
  24. Dupree looked slow in his first 2 preseason games but played better in their third game. Smith has looked better than Dupree overall however. Smith gives us some great depth at OLB, which was a potential area of weakness this year. He's going to make some plays and blow some...that's what rookies do.
  25. I don't think Webb was ever going to be a starting corner this year. Vaughn will probably start or possibly Melvin. Personally I THINK THIS IS WEBB'S LAST YEAR IN THE NFL AND HE MAY NOT EVEN MAKE THE WHOLE YEAR. Either Melvin or Vaughn will be ok as long as Smith Arrington Lewis and Hill are on the field with him.
