  1. I remember that first Pittsburgh road game on MNF. The general feeling was that we would lose and badly. I remember how delirious the Steelers fans were after winning the game in OT, as if they had just won the SuperBowl. I thought to myself that the Ravens were in good hands, with a rookie QB and head coach that had just scared the you-know-what out of the Steelers and their fans on national TV at their place. That game seemed to be the real beginning of the Ravens/Steelers rivalry, as most of the subsequent battles seem to follow that script.
  2. Amazing player!! All-time Great! It was a pleasure to watch this exceptional man play for the Ravens! Best wishes for the future and hope the organization can take advantage of your extraordinary knowledge for our team. Thanks REEEEEEEEEED!!!!!
  3. When your defense is giving up late game-winning drives, and your offense is moving the football, why stop? You get a chance to win the game, then win the darn game! Stop playing around. That's why you lose games and we will continue to lose games when we lose our aggressiveness.
  4. " I put this loss on the offense. All they had to do was attempt to get 1 first down on their last drive. If they get it the game would have been over. They didn't even try to get a first down but instead tried to burn the clock. It just seemed as if the coaching staff had no faith in the offense to try and get that last first down. That's a major issue within itself. We had nothing to lose at this point so why play that conservative? It just makes me wonder sometimes... " I totally agree!! You have to win the game when the opportunity is there. We had that chance on our last offensive drive. We had just gotten a first down with some aggressive play-calling. Had we gotten 1 more first down, we could have salted the clock away. Instead what did we do? We ran 2 dives right into the line, knowing Jacksonville was set to stop the run. On 3rd and 10, we throw a short 5 yard pass, not even looking beyond the first down markers. I told my son before the 3rd down play that if we don't go for the first down and either run or throw a short pass, then we have just lost the game; I knew the Jags would rally back to field goal range and their kicker would make amends for his earlier PAT miss. We just cannot trust our current defense as it is led and staffed, to make a game saving stop. It is just not going to happen. Even if it takes a "no time on the clock" facemask penalty to do it.Why can't our coach get this through his head and stop putting the pressure on this weak D? The same thing happened in Week 2 in Oakland. We had a chance to salt away the clock with under 2 minutes left. We could have gotten a first down inside the 5 yard line but instead our coach decided to throw passes for the endzone, all of which were incomplete and stopped the clock for Oakland who was down to 1 timeout. We kicked a field goal, giving them over a minute to drive down the field against a non-existent defense and score without even using their timeout. How many times will our coach continue to use this strategy before he realizes that he doesn't have #52, #20, #55, and #92 playing for him? Coach the team you do have, and realize that they cannot play like the studs you've had in the past. Also, their defensive schemes are not good enough to stop opposing teams when they need to. Insanity: Constantly repeating the same actions expecting a different result.
  5. Class act!! Love the shout out to the Goose who kept things lively. Miss those guys.
  6. I remember that game in the video link so well. That interception won the game for us and I think Ray won Defensive Player of the Week in his first NFL game! (http://www.baltimoreravens.com/team/history/ray-lewis/ray-lewis-awards.html ) What a debut!
  7. Jonathan Ogden represents the best of the Ravens. Truly a classy man. Wishing him all the best for the future. What an incredible athlete he was. World-class track and field at UCLA in the shot-put. Caught TD passes in the NFL. I was most impressed with JO after the offense committed a turnover. It seemed that on many of those plays, the guy on our offense making the tackle was JO. He would run down the ball carrier and make the tackle. I remember a Pro Bowl game where an interception occurred and Ogden ran about 80 yards and tackled the guy at about the 10 yard line. The announcers could not believe it. It was amazing.
  8. Excellent point! I was saying the same things yesterday when it was 2nd and 8 from about the 13. Just pick up a first down. We didn't really need a touchdown. A first down would have forced the Raiders to burn their last timeout and allowed us to salt away the clock, then kick a chip-shot field goal to win the game. Two passes to the sideline, both of which stopped the clock were absolutely the worst plays to call in that situation. Coaching, coaching, coaching. If you are going to pass, throw something short and safe that would keep the clock ticking and force the Raiders to use their last timeout. Even though they may have gotten the ball back with 2 minutes left (assuming we did not make the 3rd down conversion), going for the first down instead of the touchdown was the more important task at that critical part of the game. Our coaches have got to think a lot better and force Joe to execute the correct play option in that situation,.
  9. For years I wished Steve Smith Sr. was on our team because his approach to the game and attitude meshed perfectly with the Ravens. I always felt that he was a Raven. I was pleasantly shocked and overjoyed when he signed with us last year, it was like a dream come true. I am very grateful that Ravens fans have had a chance to appreciate his greatness for this period of time, regardless of how short it is. Thank you Ravens Organization for bringing Steve here and a big, big thanks to Steve Smith Sr. for being a Raven!!
  10. Great having JJ around the team! Hope the team continues to invite players like him, Starks, McCrary, Ray, Bart, etc. to visit to inspire and mentor current players. How cool is it to walk around a corner at the Castle and bump into Ray or Reed?

  12. LOL...that's well put. It's all so hilarious especially when over the years, we have had to watch Brady act like a spoiled brat whenever an opposing player only brushes his helmet and then he demands a flag from the officials. I've seen Flacco get absolutely rocked and no flag thrown. Joe just gets back up and goes on to the next play. Not Brady, he whines and screams for a flag whenever he gets hit, unless he's sacked, and even then he might whine for a flag. A competitor, yes, but a very poor sport. He tried to kick Ed Reed in the no-no region when he thought Reed was going to hit him on a run. Now that the spotlight is on him for breaking an NFL rule, he doesn't want to accept punishment. This is what coddling of superstars results in. Man up Brady, your competitive fire made you cross the line to try to gain an advantage by adjusting the football inflation in the hopes of minimizing turnovers. Maybe it wasn't necessary in the Colts game, but if you did it in the Ravens game the week prior or any other close games prior, then that may very well have affected the outcome and helped you get to the SuperBowl. That's why so many fans are upset.
  13. Very under-rated player who always did his job well. Hustled, was smart, never grabbed the limelight, just put his head down, brought his lunch pail and went to work. You could tell his teammates loved him by the way they acknowledged him on the sidelines. One of my favorite Ravens. Job well-done JJ and thanks for being a Raven!
