  1. Is this a sarcastic thread?Had we not beat either Cle or Pit we could've been in San Diegos spot and could have our pick of any player in the draft after the QBs are gone.Had we lost both games,we could've been one of the teams to trade back for a kings ransom and would've more than likely had a top ten pick even after a bounce back season in the playoffs. Both of the teams grabbing rookies look like double digit loss teams to me.Why would you be glad that we missed out on those scenarios just to win two pointless games in a down year? The loot we could've gotten would've made us a LOADED team for the next five to seven years.

  2. I hope to goodness that the Chargers take Tunsil so we don't mess around and take him over someone like Jack,Buckner or *crosses my fingers and hope that he's still there* Bosa. That pick doesn't make sense for a team that already has a solid left tackle in place and is in win now mode. Why take a LT just to have him sit behind Monroe who is a good player when healthy?Tunsil would be a waste of a rare pick that's basically a top four pick after the two QB's are picked. Our defense needs this pick more than our offense and this is coming from a guy who is immensely biased towards offense. We need one of those potentially elite defenders.Preferably Bosa or Jack because Ramsey will be gone and I don't see us trading up a spot or two for him.

  3. Last year I looked at the schedule and automatically knew there was a real chance we would go 0-4 or 1-3(I thought the win would come in Oakland though). This year I'm thinking there's a good chance we could be 7-0 or 5-2 at worst going into the bye.None of those teams scare me.The Bills,Giants and Jets are the only teams I think could be tough wins for us.The final four game stretch looks BRUTAL.

Unless I'm mistaken, most games in week one are a rivalry, so that isn't terribly likely.

We didn't have a rivalry with the Broncos yet we played them last year. If they did need a rivalry or a story line though,Rex Ryan and Tyrod Taylor makes the Bills an interesting matchup for week one and a rematch game from the shootout from last season could make the raiders game an interesting game.Thats the reason I picked those two games.

That garbage team got into the playoffs. We didn't.

So are you trying to say that they're a better team than us presently or were a better team last year?Because I don't think it's biased to say the Ravens would've made the playoffs last year too had we not lost our best defensive player in the first game of the year and all or best offensive players later in the year.

Even with the injuries we still won 6 games if you count the one the league admitted we should've won. They probably would've reversed that if we were in contention.I think if Suggs,Flacco,Forssett and Smith would've stayed healthy that would've led to atleast four more wins.Since we swept Pittsburgh that would've been enough for us to be in the playoffs.

The only reason the Redskins made the playoffs last year is because they played in the worst division in the NFL.Somebody had to win.Lucky for them, they were those somebodies.

A healthy 2016 Ravens team buries buries a healthy 2016 Redskins team.Just like our first team does in the preseason every year.

  6. I'm glad we're not playing the Redskins in the 3rd week of the preseason. It's difficult to judge our first team talent against that garbage team. Our defense(mainly the secondary) should get a good test vs Detroit.Especially if they draft a 3rd WR in the first or second round like I heard a pundit say was possible.

  7. I was just daydreaming about how if Cleveland doesn't take a QB and San Fran trades Kaepernick to Denver and becomes desperate for a QB,we could use trade offers from a QB hungry team like Philly or the Rams to bait San Fran into trading up one spot with us for their second or 3rd rounder.I'm not sure if this has already been talked about because I haven't been following Ravens forums much since free agency died down.I also haven't seen a thread about a scenario where we trade with San Fran or Philly for one of their second rounders.Does anyone else think that's likely? We could maybe draft Hargreaves,Noah Spence and someone like Cody Whitehair or William Jackson(if he makes it past Pittsburgh) in that situation.I'm almost rooting for that to happen.

How can you say Perriman showed potential when he has not even played an NFL game? You turn the "lights on" and he could become below average.

I said he showed potential in training camp. We've seen multiple highlights of him making catches and running decent routes in last years TC.That combined with his athleticism and the way he played in college why I still say he has potential.I doubt he's going to be anything less than a Torrey Smith caliber receiver after how much I've watched his college games and pro day workout. He just looks like he'll play like he belongs in the NFL.

  9. If Timmy and Gilmore stay healthy this year,Perrmian shows he can be the deep threat we want, the other three good playrers from that year improve from their rookie seasons,we get an immediate starter at sixth overall and anything from the other rookies,we'll be looking back in Feb saying how great the last three drafts were.I know that's alot of if's,but none of them are far fetched.Behind the older stars who will do heavy lifting,we're a young team with the potential to be great because of the last two drafts and the high picks we have this year.

  10. 2011: • Jimmy Smith
    • Torrey Smith
    • Pernell McPhee

    2012: • Kelechi Osemele
    • Justin Tucker(UDFA,I count those as well)

    2013: • Brandon Williams
    • Ricky Wagner

    2014: • CJ Mosley
    • Timmy Jernigan
    • Crockett Gilmore

2015: •Breshad Perriman(TBD but showed the potential last year in TC)
•Maxx Williams(Has potential/year two is when it usually turns on for TE's)
•Javorius Allen(Not where we'd like him to be yet,but showed the probowl caliber potential at times)
•ZaDarius Smith(The other rookie that showed big potential last year)

They've drafted well in the past 5 years with or with out a roster of probowlers.I don't see how some fans and some journalist are calling any of them awful. You can't call the 2011 draft anything but a win with those 3 players we found. In the 2012 draft we found an elite guard and an elite kicker.Finding two elite rookies at any two positions in the same off season is a win to me.In 2013,we found the heart of our D Line and a quality RT.Even though our misses with the first two picks looked bad,I'd still give that year a B minus simply because of those two. Then in 2014,we found the future of our ILB group for the next ten years(even though he looked bad at times last year),a playmaker who still has the potential to improve at DE and a big strong starting caliber TE who can block and make plays in the passing game. That year looks good already and should be even more improved in year three. It's too soon to judge last years class.

  11. Looking at our roster on paper and then looking at our schedule,I think we're a 10-12 win team barring any significant injuries to any of our key players.

I think this offense is going to catch alot of people off guard. We we're in the first year of a new offense with two young TE's and an undeveloped Kamar Aiken at number two with no one behind him,yet we were a top ten offense yards wise averaging 22.6 points per game before Joe went down.Had we actually finished the season averaging 22.6 PPG we would've been the 17th ranked scoring offense in the league. Now that we'll have the same offensive system for two years in a row for the first time since 2012 and we've significantly improved at TE and WR,I see this offense finishing somewhere around the bottom of the top ten in scoring and yards per game at the least.

I also think what Buck Allen developed into in the second half of the season is going to add a special pop to our offense that helps it carry the team.He gives Flacco a RB that can take a short pass and turn it into a 10-20 yard play for a first down. That's another thing Flacco and this offense hasn't had since 2012.Our speed down the field along with our possession receivers and TE's over the middle makes Buck my candidate for break out Raven of the year. That underneath stuff could be open for him all day and he knows how to move in the open field.Plus, our OC and QB both love short passes to RB's.They'll probably design a bunch of plays to use him the way we used Rice.

The draft and our new/returning pieces on defense is another thing that I think will get us to the double digits. As long as our defense stays relatively healthy and the return of Suggs and addition of Weddle and Webb to our safety corp makes them a respectable/solid unit,we're good.If Myles Jack or Deforest Buckner falls to us at 6th,that could also make the defense respectable. We don't even need our defense to be a shut down group.Flacco and this offense could guide an atleast good enough unit to a double digit record. We just need a defense that isn't giving up 5 td's in a game,37 points to offenses like Oakland, reviving Kapernick and handing out career days to guys like Josh McCown. And barring any significant injuries to key players like I said in the beginning,I think we'll have that.

    1. We would never trade with Jacksonville...they pick in front of us. The idea of trading up is to get ahead of somebody who you think may take your player. Trading with the same team you're trying to get ahead of doesn't make any sense.

    2. Trading with Dallas MIGHT make sense...if Dallas is certain they can get the player they want two spots later AND as long as the Cowboys and Ravens aren't interested in the same player.

Problem is...all three teams have similar interests in players, or at least appear to. Defensive help at basically all levels is likely what all three of those teams are looking for.

AND...Dallas would have all the leverage, and as such, I wouldn't have any discussions that didn't involve the 36th pick. They'd be freerollling...they're not gaining or losing value from a pick two spots later, and they don't need the deal at all. They can just pick who they want.

1.Yes it does make sense.Your essentially trading draft picks in exchange for the player both of you want.

2.Again,even if they want the same player, the player they could get at #6 and another third rounder might be more appealing than just that player.

My guess is it would cost more than a third to move up a couple spots.

It wouldn't take more than our third to trade up with Jax or Dallas. In an extreme case Dallas could ask for a sixth or seventh rounder on top of that.If that extra late rounder is the difference between us drafting a Bosa,Jack or Buckneer or being forced to trade down because of the value and pick from the guys who are in the teens, then it would be stupid of us to be stingy with our picks over a Campanaro or Waller type of player who probably won't be on the roster in two years anyway.
