  1. I'm glad we're not playing the Redskins in the 3rd week of the preseason. It's difficult to judge our first team talent against that garbage team. Our defense(mainly the secondary) should get a good test vs Detroit.Especially if they draft a 3rd WR in the first or second round like I heard a pundit say was possible.
  2. I see I'm far from the only person to have thought of that....
  3. I was just daydreaming about how if Cleveland doesn't take a QB and San Fran trades Kaepernick to Denver and becomes desperate for a QB,we could use trade offers from a QB hungry team like Philly or the Rams to bait San Fran into trading up one spot with us for their second or 3rd rounder.I'm not sure if this has already been talked about because I haven't been following Ravens forums much since free agency died down.I also haven't seen a thread about a scenario where we trade with San Fran or Philly for one of their second rounders.Does anyone else think that's likely? We could maybe draft Hargreaves,Noah Spence and someone like Cody Whitehair or William Jackson(if he makes it past Pittsburgh) in that situation.I'm almost rooting for that to happen.
  4. I said he showed potential in training camp. We've seen multiple highlights of him making catches and running decent routes in last years TC.That combined with his athleticism and the way he played in college why I still say he has potential.I doubt he's going to be anything less than a Torrey Smith caliber receiver after how much I've watched his college games and pro day workout. He just looks like he'll play like he belongs in the NFL.
  5. If Timmy and Gilmore stay healthy this year,Perrmian shows he can be the deep threat we want, the other three good playrers from that year improve from their rookie seasons,we get an immediate starter at sixth overall and anything from the other rookies,we'll be looking back in Feb saying how great the last three drafts were.I know that's alot of if's,but none of them are far fetched.Behind the older stars who will do heavy lifting,we're a young team with the potential to be great because of the last two drafts and the high picks we have this year.
  6. 2011: • Jimmy Smith • Torrey Smith • Pernell McPhee 2012: • Kelechi Osemele • Justin Tucker(UDFA,I count those as well) 2013: • Brandon Williams • Ricky Wagner 2014: • CJ Mosley • Timmy Jernigan • Crockett Gilmore 2015: •Breshad Perriman(TBD but showed the potential last year in TC) •Maxx Williams(Has potential/year two is when it usually turns on for TE's) •Javorius Allen(Not where we'd like him to be yet,but showed the probowl caliber potential at times) •ZaDarius Smith(The other rookie that showed big potential last year) They've drafted well in the past 5 years with or with out a roster of probowlers.I don't see how some fans and some journalist are calling any of them awful. You can't call the 2011 draft anything but a win with those 3 players we found. In the 2012 draft we found an elite guard and an elite kicker.Finding two elite rookies at any two positions in the same off season is a win to me.In 2013,we found the heart of our D Line and a quality RT.Even though our misses with the first two picks looked bad,I'd still give that year a B minus simply because of those two. Then in 2014,we found the future of our ILB group for the next ten years(even though he looked bad at times last year),a playmaker who still has the potential to improve at DE and a big strong starting caliber TE who can block and make plays in the passing game. That year looks good already and should be even more improved in year three. It's too soon to judge last years class.
  7. Looking at our roster on paper and then looking at our schedule,I think we're a 10-12 win team barring any significant injuries to any of our key players. I think this offense is going to catch alot of people off guard. We we're in the first year of a new offense with two young TE's and an undeveloped Kamar Aiken at number two with no one behind him,yet we were a top ten offense yards wise averaging 22.6 points per game before Joe went down.Had we actually finished the season averaging 22.6 PPG we would've been the 17th ranked scoring offense in the league. Now that we'll have the same offensive system for two years in a row for the first time since 2012 and we've significantly improved at TE and WR,I see this offense finishing somewhere around the bottom of the top ten in scoring and yards per game at the least. I also think what Buck Allen developed into in the second half of the season is going to add a special pop to our offense that helps it carry the team.He gives Flacco a RB that can take a short pass and turn it into a 10-20 yard play for a first down. That's another thing Flacco and this offense hasn't had since 2012.Our speed down the field along with our possession receivers and TE's over the middle makes Buck my candidate for break out Raven of the year. That underneath stuff could be open for him all day and he knows how to move in the open field.Plus, our OC and QB both love short passes to RB's.They'll probably design a bunch of plays to use him the way we used Rice. The draft and our new/returning pieces on defense is another thing that I think will get us to the double digits. As long as our defense stays relatively healthy and the return of Suggs and addition of Weddle and Webb to our safety corp makes them a respectable/solid unit,we're good.If Myles Jack or Deforest Buckner falls to us at 6th,that could also make the defense respectable. We don't even need our defense to be a shut down group.Flacco and this offense could guide an atleast good enough unit to a double digit record. We just need a defense that isn't giving up 5 td's in a game,37 points to offenses like Oakland, reviving Kapernick and handing out career days to guys like Josh McCown. And barring any significant injuries to key players like I said in the beginning,I think we'll have that.
  8. 1.Yes it does make sense.Your essentially trading draft picks in exchange for the player both of you want. 2.Again,even if they want the same player, the player they could get at #6 and another third rounder might be more appealing than just that player.
  9. It wouldn't take more than our third to trade up with Jax or Dallas. In an extreme case Dallas could ask for a sixth or seventh rounder on top of that.If that extra late rounder is the difference between us drafting a Bosa,Jack or Buckneer or being forced to trade down because of the value and pick from the guys who are in the teens, then it would be stupid of us to be stingy with our picks over a Campanaro or Waller type of player who probably won't be on the roster in two years anyway.
  10. I'm tired of hearing about how we drafted HOFers late in the first round 10-20 years ago.Outside of Jimmy Smith and CJ Mosley we haven't even been able to find players I would actually call good in the first round in the past seven drafts.Perriman still has a chance to be good though. We can't afford to trade back just like they think we can't afford to trade up.Bosa,Tunsil,Ramsey,Buckner and Jack are the top 5 players in this draft. If Cleveland doesn't take a QB and no one trades in front of us for a QB,giving up a third to move up a spot or two and get one of them would be worth it.This roster NEEDS that level of talent.
  11. Wagner,Yanda,Zuttah and Monroe sounds like a pretty strong O line to me as long as Monroe stays relatively healthy. They may not be top 5ish like they were with Osemele, but those four guys are all good football players and make for a strong core.Plus,we're high enough in the second round to either get the top rated OG in the draft on day 2 or trade up to the back half of the first and draft him.His name is Cody Whithair and he has experience playing LT in college too so there's a chance he could slide over and fill in for Monroe if he gets hurt.
  12. Why are the broncos replacing Clady?I haven't been following the broncos or watching that many of their games recently, but from what I remember he was a stud at LT.What changed? If they are serious about getting rid of him I say we wait until they release him. There's no point in any team trading for him with those cap numbers when you could wait until he's released and sign him at a lower number. In either case,Webb won't be taking a pay cut.You can be sure of that.
  13. I don't care if he was a first round pick, drafting Elam was a mistake. They should've just owned up to that and cut him instead of releasing Hill.Hill was by far the better player.Releasing Hill gave us $2.8 million in cap and releasing Elam would've given us $1.8 million.Keeping Hill would've been well worth having that $1 million in cap still on the books. He was young and was a freaking play maker. They probably won't give the fans one,but I wish they would give us an explanation on how they came to the conclusion that keeping Elam was a better move than keeping Hill.Remember the way he covered Graham vs New Orleans in 2014?Elam could never do that. What has Elam proven he's good at anyway???UGH...just like that the euphoria that has been built up over the past few days has been eviscerated.
  14. What happened to the meme I posted? Is there a rule against memes on this board? It wasn't NSFW or anything like that.
  15. Sounds alot like the deal I proposed the other day and a few people told me was way too high because he was only worth $2-3 million per year.I told you guys that was about his worth in the market.Marlon could make the $2 million you guys thought Mike Wallace was worth.
  16. We got Weedle???
  17. He's going to sign today guys.I can feel it!
  18. I have two words to dismiss your theory that Ben made his WR's look better than they were... EMMANUEL SANDERS! Ben's WR's and Heath Miller have made him look better, not the other way around. If Ben really did make guys better he would've put up 40 TD's quite a few times since 2010.Since then he's had Wallace,Brown,Sanders,Bryant,Wheaton and Miller yet he hasn't even put up thirty more than once.I personally think people vastly overrate him because of the two SB's the steelers defense won. When Rogers,Brady,Brees and Manning have gotten those type of weapons in the past they set the league on fire. But anyway,I've went way off the topic this thread is really about.Mike Wallace would give our passing game what we had in 2014 when Flacco had a career year and almost got this horrible secondary past NE in the divisional round. We need that back.We need Mike Wallace!
  19. They $3.1 mil in space and no one I think they'd really be willing to release in order to sign him.
  20. Have you been paying attention to the new value of WR's lately? It would probably cost $2 million to bring Marlon back.Marvin Jones is worth $8 million per year,Travis Benjamin and Sanu each got $6 million per year and it cost us $3.5 million per year on a 35 year old TE.Mike Wallace, who is one year removed from solid numbers in Miami,is definitely worth $6.5 million and he'd actually live up to that here.He could produce something like 40 catches 600 yards and 5 or so TD's easily with Joe throwing to him and if he gets enough reps. And that's actually me low balling it for the sake of argument.I really think he'd put up the numbers he did in Miami with Joe and the amount of reps a number two should get.
  21. Let Monroe stay at LT and use some of that $8.5 million to sign Wallace.I'm sure he'd agree to a 2 year $13 million deal.
  22. "To determine "better" free agents, the council looks at average salaries, playing time and postseason awards. Salaries make up the biggest portion of that equation. " Hopefully that means we'll get a third rounder next year since Osemele is now the highest paid guard in the league and will more than likely play just about ever snap barring injury. With the roster Oakland has and the fact that Denver shouldn't be the 800 hundred pound gorilla that they've been in the west since they got Manning,it wouldn't surprise me if Oakland takes that division and gets him some post season time too.
  23. NO,NO,NO...You guys are misquoting him because what I heard him say was "coming from a place that wasn't willing to grossly overpay me more than the other guy on my team that does the same thing I do but better".
  24. I think we should hold off on Myles Jack till after his pro day next week. he's coming off a bad Knee injury. I know what you mean.I've been thinking the same thing about him.I'm not really gung ho about any specific player yet.I've changed my mind about who I think we should draft plenty of times since the end of the season and depending on what happens at that pro day I might change it again.I've been watching alot of Buckner's games lately and the idea of drafting him has been starting to grow on me.What are your thought's on him?
  25. If they're still interested in Mike Wallace and actually pull off signing him, this could be a special year for Flacco which means it would be special year for us as a team. It's a long shot that all of these things will fall in place, but if Gilmore and Smitty rebound completely,Perriman and Maxx develop into even just role playing play makers in year two and we get Wallace,I'd be afraid to see this offense as an opposing fan.I'm hoping they find a competent CB and WR in FA so that we can draft Myles Jack in the first round.Short passes to running backs hurt us last year and we need an ILB with speed that can cover RB's.
