  1. Let's not turn Blount into Peterson, please. I would have liked for us to add him but he's not AP, the Steelers can't even run block. Without an elite O-Line he's not gonna look any better than in Tampa in his last few years were he was barely averaging 4 yards per carry. I don't even think he's an upgrade over Bell who's more shifty and just as tough running inside. Bell averaged an awful 3.5 yards per carry last season and he couldn't get anything going, so again calm down. I wouldn't worry about either of them, I'm more worried about shutting Big Ben down. The Steelers can't run the ball, no matter who they have back there. He'll have a subpar season because everybody expects him to put up the same numbers he put up in NE later in the season and that's not gonna happen in Pittsburgh. Good back, but useless if you can't runblock. I have full faith in Ray & Pierce.
  2. Doesn't really fit that typical "AFC North / Smashmouth" mold but the coaching staff must like what they've seen from him skillwise. He can play guard too, that's always a plus.
  3. Blount is the type of RB that fits in here perfectly, especially in the AFC North. It would suck for Pierce because he deserves a shot but Blount is a proven back who can get the job done. He'd be a good addition I think and we'd have a great 1 2 punch with him and Rice. We'll see if this gets done, but I'd be up for it. As for Sanchez, unless he's accepting the veteran minimum or something close to that I have no interest in him. Joe is about as reliable a QB as there is in football. No need to spend 5 mil. on a backup QB that won't see the field.
  4. That's because Jimmy struggled badly early on, so those rankings (I find those PFF rankings garbage anyway considering that none of those guys have ever played football at a higher level, or any football at all) are useless. Jimmy was arguably one of our best players overall last season and in the 2nd half he played at an All Pro level. Webb was solid overall, he struggled at times but he also played some really good ball later on.
  5. Wow. Damn. I thought it was around 10 mil. but there's still Talib unfortunately.
  6. You're right but I was just trying to sort of rank these guys to see what we might get for them. There's still so much that can affect how many picks we'll get, depending on who we are going to pick up as free agents and so on.
  7. God I hate that number. Travis Taylor, Mark Clayton. Ugh. Hope once and if Steve rocks it he'll help me forget about the past.
  8. It is unfortunately. The picks are largely based on contract size and what somebody averages annually. Guys like Verner or Talib that got 10+ mil. per year will be in the 3rd round range. But Jones is definitely a 4th. Ihedigbo might be a 5th if everything goes well. Oher signed a hefty deal, he might net us a 4th but I doubt it. Cody probably a 7th. Graham probably a 5th and Dickson maybe a 6th or 7th. Just my guesses but it's gonna be in the ballpark.
  9. Art signed a big contract, he should have a good season and the Colts will definitely make the playoffs again. He'll net us a 4th rounder, without a doubt.
  10. Ozzie getting stuff done. As always.
  11. Dude 14 mil. for 4 years is nothing. You act like we're paying him 10 mil. per year to mow the lawn. He has made so many bigplays for us, he's one of the key reasons we won the SB, he is a game changer who can score a TD week in week out and make bigplays happen. And you're complaining about paying him 14 mil. for 4 years? Punters make more than that! This is a bargain.
  12. You're crazy. He's arguably the best kick and punt returner / deep threat in the league.
  13. 14 mil. for 4 years, that's a great deal for us. Good job Ozzie.
  14. Good news. Still hoping we can land Steve Smith to play opposite Torrey, don't want to go into the season with the same receivers we had last year, that clearly wasn't good enough. Even with a healthy Pitta.
  15. DRC is probably looking for Talib type money. And combined with his dumb comments about retiring I'd stay away from him. Hm. Tarrell Brown maybe? I don't really see us going after a starting corner to play slot.
  16. Munny is looking for a starting job and a decent payday, he's not gonna settle for a backup job after the year he had. I don't like him as a starter, he's too short and more of a product of CAR's defense/system, just like Mike Mitchell. He'd be a really good slot corner though but I doubt that's gonna happen.
  17. Sounds awesome if that's true. And if that's true that means Ozzie/Eric are trying to bring in some more high profile players to count against the cap this season. They're not gonna backload Monroe's deal like that just for the sake of having a lot of cap room this year...that'd be a waste. And we'd be in trouble for no reason in the next few years.
  18. So the number went down just 3 mil. after the Monroe signing? No idea what the numbers look like but I find that hard to believe. But if that's the case we should be able to go after Mack and Byrd. But I really doubt that.
  19. Did you even watch him play? He did profit off having a QB like Brady but the guy is one of the toughest receivers in the league, he makes the toughest catches, he's a guy you can count on, he catches virtually everything thrown his way. Plus he's one of the elite return men in the game, maybe even the best. To make it sound like anybody could have done what he did last season because of Brady is silly. The guy worked for his 100+ catches and his 1000+ yards. I'd love to have him here. Jacoby would never even be able to sniff close to 100 catches in NE with the same "supporting cast" (they all pretty much suck except for Brady).
  20. He caught 100+ balls for over 1000 yards last season in 16 games. Made a ton of tough catches in traffic over the middle. Wouldn't call him "glass".
  21. Edelman would be a huge upgrade over Jones. He's just as good a returner and a way better receiver.
  22. Rapoport just said that we might go after Alex Mack (C, Browns) if we don't get a deal done with Monroe. Not sure how this makes sense in any way. Especially since we're about to re-sign Monroe.
  23. What does one have to do with the other? They didn't have any receivers or linebackers, of course they had to overpay to get somebody. Has nothing to do with Clemons and their safety position. They already have a Pro Bowl type safety who they had trouble re-signing with and who they gave a huge contract to. Whatever, let's move on from this.
  24. What are you talking about "not sure where you got your figure"? Did you talk to Byrd yesterday or how do you know he is dropping his asking price? The latest news out there is that he is looking for more than 8 mil. per year, that's what Breer posted on Twitter. And again, the Dolphins already tied up a loads of money on one of their safeties. Why would you question this move anyway? Don't you think they know what Clemons is worth to them and how he played? They obviously wanted to move on because he's looking for more than they're willing to pay him. And they should know if he's worth that money, shouldn't they?
