  1. They need to just put Perriman on IR and be done for the season. I agree with Flacco... don't bother him (or us) until he's actually coming back. They need to stop running the ball straight ahead and downhill. Our line is not that dominant that they can create holes - Forsett is stuck in the mud. Is this the real Forsett, or is our line that bad? I don't think that Monroe coming back helps them either. He is the most injury-prone O lineman that I can remember. If they can run the ball, the opposing defenses have to stay honest, and other receivers can make plays... it can't be SSS all the time. Dude is going to wear down physically. Mentally, he is a feisty beast.
  2. The penalties are a killer. Two weeks in a row. Winnable games go up in smoke. Harbs can be angry all he wants... I saw the press conference after that game... you could tell that he was mad. But there were hiccups and poor play all round. We don't seem to have any other running plays except straight ahead, and usually into the teeth of the defense; does nobody else get open except Steve Smith Sr? Doesn't the secondary like to cover or tackle? Where did the pass rush go? Harbs has to be holding Dean Pees and Marc Trestman's feet to the fire, while he's taking his own shoes off. We have not played any games so far that were not winnable. None.
  3. I'm not a coach, but I have to agree with many of the people on this board... why does the secondary play so far off on the snap? The balls are being thrown so quickly, and you can't get interceptions or anything. I have heard Pees saying a couple of years ago that he doesn't care about yards that we give up. Well yards can easily turn into points. If they jam up these receivers, QBs won't be as comfortable. The domino effect is more sacks, more interceptions, and better defensive plays overall. The other point is that penalties will be the end of the Ravens. The game may have had a whole different outcome if Jernigan didn't give up that boneheaded roughing the passer penalty near the end. What a dummy!
  4. It was a good defensive effort overall. I thought that we could jam them at the LOS more, but that's what you get with a zone defense. There were some pretty wrinkles on the D overall. It will be great when that monster Jernigan gets back.
  5. I feel sorry for Monroe. But this guy has never played a whole season. But hopefully he can resolve and be back in a week or two. Denver's pass rush is nasty... poor Cool Joe was under fire all night. It would have all been worthwhile if that last play was a TD. Tough sledding, but that's just Game 1. Fifteen more to go.
  6. In Ozzie we tend to trust... but I'm not sure about this one. But then again, I was not at training camp, so I didn't see what they saw. The season is 4 months long, and I'm sure that Asa could have gotten better as the season wore on. But they know way more than I, so I really can't complain. I also think that it was time to let Jah Reid go as well. He's a guy with lots of potential, but never really got chugging. I'm sure that someone will find value with them both. I'm glad that Waller made it... that dude seems to catch everything that's thrown at him.
  7. I'm so happy for Tyrod! It's almost like your child graduating from college or something. He's been a patient guy, and now he's getting his due. Good for him! I hope he eats the Pats this year... they're a sickening bunch of whiney cheaters. Here's to Tyrod! I want him to win... except if we meet in the playoffs...
  8. Alright Garrett Downing, and everybody else in Ravens Nation who is breathing a sigh of relief because of Matt Schaub's performance on Thursday... just slow your roll a bit. It was just one game, and there are 3 more preseason games to assess this guy. Perhaps he just needed the right system to be in. He stated that personal issues in the last few years contributed to his poor performance - he is a human being, so this is understandable.Let's just see a few more snaps in game conditions before we really feel relieved. I am very happy that he looked as good as he did. I also hope that the Ravens keep a 3rd QB this year... Schaub is not going to be around forever, and Renner can have a positive future.
  9. One thing that I know is that the media know about the same as me and every other casual contributor to this board. EllicottRaven is correct... the media told us that the Ravens COULD NOT/WOULD NOT keep both Yanda and KO. Now here we go with Eisenberg slipping, sliding, zigging and zagging about how we can keep both. In Ozzie we trust! We let plenty of great players go: Boldin, Vonta, Reed, and plenty more. So if KO or Yanda leave the stable, I'm sure a great replacement is a-coming.
  10. He's a versatile guy. The writer is right... he'll have a ton of career options when football is over.
  11. Ozzie is a really great GM. But he always gets all of the credit when it is the combined effort of scouts, Eric DaCosta, plenty of other staff and coaches. The whole organization needs a pat on the back, especially if we go to the SB next year.
