  1. I wonder if Jack is saying that stuff about his knee to try to slide further to a certain team, or avoid being drafted by a certain team. Charles Barkley often tells the story about how he intentionally gained weight to avoid being drafted by the 76ers.
  2. Since they couldn't get the name "Colts" back, Mustangs is another name for a Colt. I see the connection. That's actually not true. A Mustang is a type of horse, and a colt is a young horse, but that's not even the point. Neither have anything to do with football, and if it's because of the similarity to "Colts", then it sounds like a cheap knockoff. name a mascot in the NFL that has to do with football. I don't think there are any, which is why Unitas' reasoning for not liking "Ravens" because it "has nothing to do with football" illogical, because neither the name "Mustangs" nor any other team name has anything to do with football either. That was the point I was making in my original post.
  3. Would a young mustang not be a colt? I guess, but not all Colts are Mustangs, and not all Mustangs are Colts, so Mustang isn't another word for Colt. It just sounds like they'd be trying to stick with a horse theme, which I think is unoriginal.

  5. Unitas didn't like the name "Ravens" because it had nothing to do with football, but wanted to name the team "Mustangs". Am I missing something? What does a Mustang have to do with football?
  6. I think maybe your comment was directed at someone else. I never said OSD had anything to do with his injury. In fact, I have told people many times that it doesn't, and I am one of the ones who posted about Keenan Allen in the first place.
  7. I don't get why you constantly keep harping on Joe having no line. We are set at 4 of the 5 o-line positions. Our only real issue with the line is that our LT hasn't been able to stay healthy, but he was durable in Jacksonville, and he's not that old, so maybe he just had a run of bad luck. Otherwise, we just need to solidify that one position, and the o-line should be pretty good.
  8. If you're interested in medical history more than a gut feeling, I don't think a grade II knee sprain has ever caused chronic issues, or at least not in recent history. Keenan Allen had a grade II PCL sprain, just like Perriman, and he took more than 6 months to fully recover, but once it was healed, it didn't cause him any more issues.
  9. A sprain is a tear. Apparently, he had a grade II sprain. If it was fully torn, it would have required surgery.
  10. I really don't see how the Ravens could release Monroe without signing another LT first. As unreliable as Monroe has been, we simply don't have another starting LT right now.
  11. I was thinking of agreeing with you but then I looked at Perrimen being a virtual unknown and Wallace has no timing with Flacco (sometimes what looks like it should work just doesn't) and I would for sure take Boldin over Aiken. But... Wallace and Perrimen together with Smith Sr. and Watson Could be the best group of all time. It will be very interesting (and fun to watch) if they all gel. There are a lot of unknowns with this group. I'd say that SSS, at 37 and coming off an achillies tear, is just as much of an unknown at this point as Perriman. If Perriman lives up to his potential and SSS can play anywhere close to the level he played at last year, this group will definitely be better than 2012. If Perriman loses his speed and quickness from not being able to train all offseason, like Jimmy Smith did last year, and SSS isn't able to bounce back, our WR corps won't be very good at all. Let's hope for the former, and we still may draft another WR or add another FA, depending on who gets cut.
  12. The only reason the first one was suggested is because the refs are too incompetent to see a blatantly obvious signal, even when the ref was looking right at Urschel. Either that or it was intentional, but either way, it's pretty sad when teams have to start suggesting rules to compensate for the pathetic officiating.
  13. I don't think he's any smaller or slower than Charles Woodson late in his career, and he was a great safety. Webb also played well at S last year. When healthy, he's a good tackler, has good instincts, and has good hands. I think he'll be a very good Safety.
  14. Le'Veon Bell should have had a talk with Lamar Woodley before trash talking about the Ravens.
  15. Webb no longer has the athleticism to cover on the outside. If he did move back to CB, he'd have to stay in the slot.
  16. I really don't get this. We need to get younger and faster on a defensive unit that badly needs more speed and athleticism. We already have 2 starting safeties, and one is getting corner money, and we have a ton of backups competing for depth. We only have one solid starting corner, we don't have a reliable LT, we have limited cap space, and we spend $7mil/year(not sure how much is guaranteed), plus a comp pick, on a S who is on the wrong side of 30 and has lost a step from his prime. I do think he can help the team, but I don't think he was worth anywhere near that kind of investment.
  17. While I think he could help the team, I think our cap space could be better spent elsewhere. I am confident in Webb and Hill, and we have a ton of safeties competing for depth. We have players at or near the end of their rookie contracts that we need to get signed and we have bigger holes at other positions.
  18. I don't think anyone is going to pay Wallace big money, and he is only going to be effective with a qb that can consistently get the ball down the field with accuracy, which limits the amount of teams that will probably be interested. If he turns down the Ravens' offer, he might find that no one else is offering any more.
  19. I hope Watson is productive here, but if he has anywhere close to the same numbers he had last year, that would not be a good sign for Gilmore or Maxx Williams.
  20. I agree with this too. I love Joe, and he can definitely get the ball downfield, but he's not terribly accurate. That miracle throw to Jacoby in Denver was a serious underthrow, for example. So was Jacoby's touchdown in the super bowl. I feel like the last time I saw him hit a fast receiver in stride was like the second game of Torrey Smith's rookie year. Funny you said something a lot of fans don't seem to understand. There is a difference between having the ability and actually performing. That's why Torrey Smith is no longer on the team. The Ravens FO couldn't determine how good their WR is they let him go instead of taking the risk of resigning Torrey Smith. We need a possession catcher for the future since their is no spectacular catch big body outside of maybe big maybe on Laquon Treadwell. Flacco needs that type of WR to compensate for his lack of accuracy. My fear is that Permian will out run Flacco and appear to be a bust. This is not true at all. Flacco is very accurate downfield. What you and a lot of other fans don't understand is that the league average for comp % on deep throws is very low, and complaining that a ball that traveled 55 yds in the air, especially when he couldn't even fully step into his throw, was a little underthrown is pretty ridiculous. Torrey set career lows across the board in his only year without Flacco, so Joe isn't the reason we let Torrey go, but he is the reason Torrey got such a big contract. EVERY NFL qb is going to miss on most of his deep passes, but for Flacco, getting it downfield with accuracy is a major strength, and defenses show their respect for it when we have someone who can stretch the field, even though Flacco's never had anything close to a speedy #1.
  21. Like they made Kamar Aiken a star?
  22. I wonder why Ozzie wanted Watson more than Daniels. Last year was Watson's only good year in a while, while Daniels has been much more consistent with his production and is younger and has played with Flacco in our system before. Maybe he feels Watson is a better red zone target, which we could really use. I think Wallace would be a good fit if and only if we can get him cheap. I can see him filling a Jacoby Jones type of role, where he helps open up the field with his speed but doesn't do much else.
  23. no, but this isn't the 1st time this type of injury has shown itself in his football career. it's known that every time you injure the same area, it becomes more prone to injury. not only that, he went on IR for an injury anyone else would have been out for 2-3 weeks on. He's a long term injury risk. It would be foolish to bet any amount of bank on him. Like i said, Aiken is a more reliable #2 at this point. perriman should be #3 until he proves he deserves the #2 spot I have never heard of a sprained PCL causing a long term injury, and this actually is the first time this injury has shown itself in Perriman's football career. He only missed one game in college. Most of your post is not supported by facts. 2-3 weeks is not the normal projection for a grade II PCL sprain. It's more like 4-8 weeks, and Perriman was on pace for about that timetable, but he had a setback. It happens, but again, as far as I am aware, a PCL sprain has never caused chronic issues, so there is no reason to believe Perriman is a long term injury risk.
  24. To me, it's pretty obvious. Marlon's rookie season was nowhere near good enough to warrant overlooking the lack of production the past couple seasons. The only way you keep a guy who has done virtually nothing for the last 2 seasons is if he has Josh Gordon type of potential, which he clearly doesn't. He isn't fast, isn't quick, and he doesn't use his size to make contested catches very often, if at all. I think his stats were inflated his rookie year because he and Torrey were really the only receivers who were able to stay healthy all year.
  25. The Ravens tried focusing on defense without a good qb, and we went 7 years without winning a playoff game. That was with Ed Reed and Ray Lewis in their primes. With Flacco, we have been SB contenders 6 of 8 years and won more playoff games than anyone. The last time he had a reasonably healthy offense around him, he was once again the best qb in the playoffs, and he put us in a position to knock off the SB champs. The reason for our recent struggles has been the flukish amount of injuries, not Flacco.
