  1. I actually thought the same thing. Shouldn't it be Wagner vs Mack and not Stanley vs Mack?
  2. Let's not downplay this to Wright only getting beat on 2 plays, because that's not the case at all. On the drive with that long punt return, Wright was beat three times alone on that drive, including the TD. If I recall correctly, those three passes were that entire drive. Also, go back and watch that TD. Yes, it was a great route and throw, but Wright actually played it poorly because he played the inside route when he had inside help from Webb. I will agree that I hated the fact he never got help after, let's say, half time because it was obvious he couldn't handle Robinson but don't be fooled, it wasn't simply a size difference issue. Many of the catches on Wright he never saw coming because he had to focus on recovering from getting beat and never even looked for the ball. Hurns beat him the same way a few times. I mentioned it on another thread, but even that play where Bortles escaped one sack only to be sacked again, Wright was burned for what would have been a TD. I forget which WR it was, but the receiver actually stopped running because he thought Bortles was sacked by the first defender. Wright is great against the run game as he's an aggressive and sure tackler. He's a huge liability in coverage and for whatever reason, Jimmy plays far more RCB than shadowing #1 receivers (and has since 2013) so expect Wright to see #1s a lot more and expect more of the same.
  3. His contract year is next season though
  4. As hot as it was out there, I wish
  5. Ok, so seeing the game in person at the stadium, I had a chance to see some things you wouldn't normally on television. We already know of the o-line problem so I won't go into that. We know about Wright in coverage but I have to mention it. Robinson abused him all game long. Why they refused to give him help is beyond me. On that last drive play where Bottles escaped a sack only to be sacked, Wright was beat horribly. Thankfully Bortles didn't look his way quick. The biggest issue that I didn't realize was Joe. Not the INTs, the his isn't about those. Jacksonville played single high safety most of the game. They also tried to press Wallace and Perriman a lot. Problem is, Wallace and Perriman both blew by those press coverages about 90% of the time and were gone with nobody behind those corners. I watched those matchups and each time I looked for Joe, he was throwing to Forsett, Pitta, or Smith for under 10 yard pickups. This isn't even a point where you blame the o-line for not holding up because Wallace and Perriman had their men beat before Joe could finish a 3 step drop. So many points left on the field. It was so frustrating. The defense looks legit though outside of Wright's pass coverage. I don't know why Jimmy is exclusively a RCB. I'm not trying to say he's a shut down corner, but he'd be better than Wright on a guy like Robinson
  6. What's with this trend of calling someone a bust/wasted pick if they get injured their rookie season or don't contribute from day one?
  7. I'd still draft Stanley with zero hesitation. Right now, we have CBs everyone has seen potential in that haven't hit the field at all. Who's the LT behind Stanley?
  8. Well, besides the fact he doesn't have all his OLBs healthy, you also have to remember the OLBs do also drop into coverage on occasion.
  9. Pees didn't play conservative at all in Sunday's game. He only played situational football on the last drive. I think it was 2013, I remember seeing Pees send 5, 6, and occasionally 7 man rushes often and literally NOBODY got pressure or could beat a blocker one on one. Certain instances had a defensive player being blocked easily and another defensive player running into his back. Then I'd come here and see people saying Pees needs to blitz and stop with soft coverages because the corners eventually got beat. It's obvious that until the defense holds teams to under 10 points and under 200 total yards, someone will complain about Pees regardless of whether he called a bad or great game. Even then he'll still get complaints. It's the thing to do I guess.
  10. I can't see how Correa isn't one of the first to lose a roster spot when another player returns. In terms of Waller, I just can't see how he doesn't make the 53. I do see the issue with the numbers game at TE, but I just don't see them putting him on the practice squad.
  11. The thread title is hilarious
  12. I think this entire game from the opening kickoff until the last Browns drive shows why it's hard for me to just hate on Pees like many do. The first quarter saw aggressive play calls, attacking the QB with blitzes left and right. But McCown got passes off and the secondary stunk it up (along with the d-line on that long rushing TD). He called the same kind of gameplan in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter (sans that last drive) and suddenly he's now great because the players actually performed as they should have in the 1st quarter. I will fully agree I wasn't happy with the play calling on the last drive, but dropping 7+ into coverage ended up working out in the end so I won't complain too much
  13. I'll be driving to this game so I'm hoping to see more of quarters 2-4 and none of the 1st quarter of this week repeated
  14. I've said this so many times on so many different forms of social media that I'm just tired. It baffles me that people still think the DC tells them how far to line up from the WR/LoS
  15. The Good: Everything after the first quarter. Michael Pierce. Pitta. Wallace. Weddle. Mosely. And Brown's WR Coleman The Bad: That taunting penalty. The rookie that threw a jab at Jimmy. Yanda with another bad penalty. The Ugly: The 1st quarter. The inability to cover Coleman. The interior o-line
  16. Tragic news to hear. My prayers go out to his family, friends, and anyone else close to him including those in the Ravens Organization
  17. Wow, this brings down my morning greatly. Prayers to his friends and family. Horrible news
  18. There are more white people in this country. Just like more white people do drugs than what arrest records show. The stats show for every 100 white people interacting with police, 1 suffers brutality. For every 100 black people, the number is 38 IIRC. That said, I definitely agree a large portion of the problem is income based. Income and status are as big a problem in this country as race. All three come together in some cases. No reason Brock Turner should have a judge reduce the 6 years prosecutors were asking for down to 6 months only to get out in three, while "Tyrone" in Park Heights gets 5 years for a $10 bag of weed. Of course this is an example of the oppression Kap is protesting. In terms of the brutality, there's a situation many don't know about. Earlier this year, in Cincinatti, a white guy pointed a gun at police. Police were called to his house for an assault complaint and they openly admit they didn't know the gun was actually fake, yet they arrested him peacefully. Less than 24 hours later, a black guy crashes his car and is laid out on the ground. He wakes up surrounded by police with guns drawn. They tell him to lay on the ground and he did. He raises back up to his knees and is killed by a hail of bullets (there's video for this). They say he reached for his waistband. Meanwhile the other guy could point a gun at police and live. Same police department within the span of 18 hours so training can't be blamed. This is Kap's other reason for protest and it's not an isolated issue or "1% of police" as I've seen many around the internet say http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/king-cincinnati-cops-reveal-double-standards-black-men-face-article-1.2537271
  19. I'm curious but did you read through that link? Kap's protest, which we're discussing, is in regards to police brutality (especially of unarmed people) and oppression. Your link talks about people shooting other armed people. That alone is a completely separate discussion. This topic of police targeting minorities or being quick to use deadly is not the same as an ordinary person's quickness to shoot someone. I've always hated that type of response since ordinary people aren't voluntarily tasked with protecting and serving everyone equally.
  20. 1. I don't think that exact numbers are needed. In addition to the links posted above, there have have been various "tests" done to show how police report to black and white people differently. There's also studies done like this one http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/08/us/study-supports-suspicion-that-police-use-of-force-is-more-likely-for-blacks.html?_r=0 2. Yes, you can confirm that players on the team you follow do various things because there are cameras there reporting it. Can you speak to every charity or community service time done by, let's say, Chiefs players? 3. Why is that? He pledged to donate 1 million and many are saying he only did it because he was called out. How would that change in this instance? 4. He brought awareness to a situation that's being heavily discussed. One person doesn't need to do a ton for change. Can you tell me what else Rosa Parks did outside of sitting? Yet her just sitting lead to a huge change, right? Kaepernick has pledged 1M, caused the 49ers to pledge 1M, and indirectly caused the Packers players/coaches to donate 100k to Wisconsin police. So far, Kap's silent protest has led to the betterment of various communities and police departments.
  21. This is false. More often than not, those cops never make it to trial because they are never indicted in the pre-trial. Fun fact, when in court to decide whether someone will even see prosecution, there is no defense attorney present. I can find the link if necessary, but prosecutor that went on a rant online, pointing out how any prosecutor wants someone to be indicted, it'll happen. And if they want someone to avoid trial completely, they turn into defense attorneys. Most of the cops that kill someone don't even see trial unless it's a ridiculously slam dunk case but yet the United States as a whole pays out over a billion dollars a year in police brutality/misconduct cases. Not sure how many people live in Baltimore, but the Freddie Gray case is a prime example of the problem. Baltimore city can recognize a problem and pay out millions to the family in restitution, the case can be ruled a homicide, and yet NOBODY is found guilty. This problem is highlighted with minorities but it's a problem for whites also.
  22. Expect a lot of that with Wallace, Perriman, and maybe even Moore. When Torrey was here, he and Joe were in sync when they saw man coverage with no over the top help. Joe would audible out to a deep throw. No reason not to expect Joe to do the same with Wallace and Perriman. I can't wait until Breshad starts getting lots of playing time. Not only to see him go deep but also knowing he'll go up and fight for a pass
  23. Lowest amount of yards allowed in 5 years. If that's a fluke it's one hellava fluke. The difference between this defensive performance and the one last season is the overall complete play, to me anyway. Last year we had the pick 6 to help influence the perception. Peyton's arm wasn't even capable of a solid deep passing game either (although we didn't fully know that at the time). This year we had no turnovers but still got consistent enough pressure as well as seeing improvement in play as the game went on. Someone brought it up before but things that worked against us early didn't later. And then there's just the speed the defense played. Swarming like that isn't a fluke. We still need to see more, but I've got a good feeling about the defense this season
  24. Yeah I don't understand all the complaints about the pass rush. They did very well. They put pressure on Tyrod all game long and forced him to move often. Had it been a non-mobile QB, at least 3 more sacks would have been added to the stat sheet. But Tyrod was expected to be elusive
  25. Pierce and Judon are both players I was skeptical on because they were facing future grocery baggers and car salesman. Then they both got a chance against starters and still continued to perform. This draft looks so freaking promising
