  1. You do realize every single passing play is designed for a specific WR, hence the "first read" or "first option" statements that get thrown around. So if Marlon produced on plays where he fit the bill, he did his job. If he was a 3rd or 4th option on other plays and the first 2 or 3 got open, then of course he's not going to see a pass as Joe would be insane to look towards his 3rd or 4th option first. Do you really think all passing plays were just "pick whoever you want" and then others were "this is specifically for Marlon Brown"?? I hope Perriman succeeds also, but yeah, you've anointed him off nothing but college tape as if every great college player becomes a good or great NFL player. Personally, I fully expect Perriman to be a very good WR for us. But if my logic on others was fully based of what I've seen, including as little as less than a half in one preseason game (Butler), I certainly would elevate someone that hasn't even played that much. I see where you stand though. Like everyone, you have those you like better than others. Unless most, you put down the ones you don't like and make an issue of others liking them instead of just praising the ones you do. I get it. I'm moving on from it now
  2. No way was he worse than David Pittman. A 3rd round pick we cut after one season who never played a game for any other team even though he was signed to about 3-4 I think
  3. You do realize one can disagree with a specific comment while not agreeing with another, right? For instance: Person A - Frank Walker sucks Person B - Yeah, he was the worst CB we've ever had Me - Well, he wasn't worst that Corey Ivy or Derrick Martin See the above, I can still think Walker sucks even though I disagreed with a statement. You called Brown 5th best option, I disagreed. You focused on how Butler had a bad preseason game while ignoring the two years of being the best WR in camp, so I asked who your annointed #2 was. Still didn't answer that. Is it the WR who's been out for for 2 weeks or the slot receiver, since you said it's not Aiken? I'll find it interesting if you'll hate on Butler for playing poorly for a quarter and a half while even though all reports have him as phenomenal in practice and then turn around and call Perriman, who hasn't even practiced in weeks, the clear 2nd best option. Don't get me wrong, I know Perriman will be the #2, I'm just interested in your inconsistent logic. Oh and as someone stated above, since when does not getting targeted mean someone isn't good?
  4. So Gerry Sandusky says Waller is not a project, he's a weapon. Clifton Brown says he will make the 53. And Ryan Mink will add an article on Waller's stock rising later. This is the difference between Waller and the other 6'5+ guys (Streeter, Moore, Riley, etc). Waller has been improving consistently since he got here on a pace we have never seen from a 6'5+ drafted guy in Baltimore. Objectively, I can't think of too many WRs we've drafted that have had this kind of steady improvement. No, I'm not saying he's a starter day 1 or that he's a missing piece. I am, however, saying the potential is there and the consistent improvement gives serious hope to those cheering for him
  5. No. From what I saw, he struggled to gain any separation so that's my basis. Granted I think he, or any of our WRs for that matter, can make tough catches in traffic, but chances are if you're not getting enough separation the QB will go another direction. I think all our WRs get a decent amount of looks this week though. We'll get to see what players can really do in the next week or 2.
  6. Let's not stretch the truth to make a point. I said Marlon caught practically everything thrown his way (which he did), but I never said he should have been the #2. I questioned your assertion of him being no more than a 5th option and I questioned how you could hate on Butler for not playing well against the Saints while seemingly giving Aiken a pass even though he also didn't play well. For as much as you get on people having faith in Marlon or Waller, you turn around and give the same faith to Aiken who, in more games, had pretty much the same number of catches, targets, and yards (he did have more TDs to be fair). How about we let people like and hype who they want? Also, and I can't believe I have to state this, saying a player is better than a 5th option doesn't equal saying that player should be the #2. Defending a player also doesn't equal hyping them up as the second coming. It could simply be that someone doesn't think he's as bad you you portray him to be
  7. I'm not talking week 1 but you can believe that Perriman will get more chances to succeed than any other WR. History shows it with Baltimore also. Look at 2011. Torrey was not only the worst of the three rookies in practice, but the worst in preseason also. But when Lee Evans went down, who got the shot? All NFL teams give more chances to their first and second rounders than they do their 6th, 7th, and undrafted. How long did they hold on to Kindle? They never tried to replace Oher. Jar Reid was a 3rd rounder they traded up for and look at all his chances. Higher draft picks simply get more of a chance. Even Terrence Cody started a full season. Arthur Brown and Kindle are the only top 2 round drafted players that haven't started in the Harbaugh era. One fractured his skull and the other apparently is struggling on an unfathomable level
  8. Who? Smitty, Perriman (who's hurt), and......? Brown, Aiken, and Butler were undrafted. Campanaro cost a 6th but wasn't picked up until the 7th round. I'd bet none of them had a grade much higher, if at all, than Waller so this is a weird reason to discredit the guy. And I'm a fan of Torrey but his college tape certainly wasn't better than Perriman's college tape so I'm not sure how much the actual draft points should matter if Torrey beat Perriman by that much
  9. I only saw a highlight and checked the stats but it looks like Deonte Thompson played pretty well with Buffalo. 2 catches, 61 yards and a TD. Of course it was in the 3rd quarter so not the 1st team.....and probably not the second either
  10. Marlon Brown, Kamar Aiken, and Jeremy Butler are more or less the same player at different heights. Losing one while having the other 2 won't hurt the team, and likely won't change any gameplans at all. Smith Sr. is on his own level, Perriman is the speed threat that can work the whole field, Camp is the shifty slot guy, and Waller is the matchup nightmare due to size and speed (and the fact he's getting better and shielded defenders with his body). But Brown, Aiken, and Butler can pretty much replace each other Personally, I like Marlon as a #3 or #4 and I'd be fine with him in spot duty as a starter, but his injury is setting him back badly because everyone else is playing well (minus Perriman who has no chance of being cut anyway). If Marlon was healthy the entire time, I'd have little doubt that he'd make the team. As things stand now, he may have lost his spot.
  11. It was Evans that got injured, not Boldin. And in all honesty, Waller right now is a bigger version of Torrey with better hands. Torrey couldn't run routes to save his life as a rookie (or later on) and that was Waller's issue coming into the NFL. Only thing is, Waller seems to be improving a lot more than Torrey did his rookie preseason. Now in terms of why can't Waller step in like Torrey did, 2 reasons. Draft selection and the other WRs. Torrey was a 2nd round pick so he was going to be given a shot at someone point. Waller as a 6th rounder isn't privilege to that same opportunity, he definitely has to earn it. And Torrey was competing against a guy drafted two rounds after him (Doss) and an undrafted WR (LaQuan) and both of them were also rookies. Waller is competing with another 6th rounder, technically, who the coaches already liked (Campanaro), a 1st rounder (Perriman) and 3 other guys that have already gained a decent level of respect from the coaches (Brown, Aiken, and Butler). If this was 2011, Waller would be no worse than our #3 WR. Hell, we may have never even gone after Evans. In 2015, he's going to have to fight hard, which he has been doing, but still may be an inactive on gameday should he make the 53.
  12. As a huge Waller supporter, I doubt this happens. Perriman's pedigree practically guarantees a starting job unless he's too hurt to play
  13. I thought this also after reading the tweets. Boyle is surprising people with his hands as many just had him as a blocking TE. Same thing Gilmore did. Maxx Williams is really going to have to impress to jump ahead of those two, pending they don't flop when it matters most. Waller is improving every week. I don't think they can try and practice squad him at this point and with the way reports have him improving, an "IR stash" would really hurt his development since he wouldn't be able to even practice IIRC.
  14. Is it a Ravens or Eagles focused list? I'm watching live tweets now but it's all Eagles focused
  15. Wow, I got negged for reporting about a KR fumble? Ok then lol. Anyway, I agree that return man is the biggest issue on the team right now.
  16. According to that link with the live updates, whoever our KR is fumbled on the first kick off. That's really a shame
  17. Waller will be fine. He won't be Calvin. What he'll be, in the long run, is a bigger, stronger, Torrey Smith with better hands. He'll be a pretty good #2 to Perriman's #1 eventually
  18. I would love for Perriman and Waller to play so well this season that they both earn the starting job next year. It's practically a given for Perriman due to his draft pedigree, unless he flops. If Waller ends up a starter next year that would mean he had a pretty good 2015. Plus Joe's never had potential deep threats at both starting WR positions.
  19. When talking about RBs vs LBs, remember it was not a full contact practice, or so it seemed, so the offense usually has the advantage at skill positions
  20. The same people that call rookies busts before the end of preseason are likely the same ones that did the same to Torrey just to turn around and sing his praises in week 3 and week 11 against Pittsburgh of his rookie season. Anybody calling a player a bust for a non IR related injury in his rookie season is ridiculous to me. Odell Beckham Jr. missed all of his rookie preseason didn't he? What a bust.
  21. Yeah, B.Williams is definitely becoming one of my favorite defensive players
  22. So you're calling Marlon a 5th option and don't like Butler for his one preseason performance (yet I bet you like Aiken even though he did absolutely nothing and struggled to find separation from anyone). I hope Campanaro isn't your potential #2 with Perriman out as he's probably the last guy who should be on the outside of them all. Marlon Brown catches everything thrown his way, and although he didn't have a ton of passes throw his way the last few seasons, he showed he'll catch everything thrown his way, go up for a pass and hold on to the ball through contact and injury, and he has pretty good body control and field awareness (see Vikings TD catch). His career trumps that of every other receiver on the team not named Sr and he's shown more than all of them
  23. It would depend on the amount of safeties they want to keep but I'd assume 5-6 is normal. Last year we started week 1 with Jimmy, Webb, Asa, and Chykie and that was with the fact Webb was injured. I don't think we had any other CBs but we kept a lot of safeties to make up for it
  24. One of my closest friends is also an Eagles fan but he's very humble. He says it's hard to talk trash when his team has never won a superbowl. That said, another of our close friends is a Redskins fan and those two definitely go at it at times
  25. Wow, I'm looking at that Jesse James gif and I hope which ever QB that is ends up playing a long time for Pittsburgh. Not because of the James drop but because the player that lined up right next to him was so wide open it was disgusting and the QB missed him. He wasn't even covered presnap with the defense showing a heavy blitz. How do you not even glance that way?
