Uber has been my friend the past couple of days!

I have always told my boys to call for a ride no questions. I have 2 minors one 4 and the other 19, and the 19 yo is reaping the benefits of being his brothers DD. They take him with them, feed him and ply him with diet coke AND he gets to drive his brothers car lol. They can only go to places like the Green Turtle and Buffalo Wild Wings but they all have safe fun.

I can understand to an extent but there's no reason you can't live a full life and be a member of a forum.

SAM needs to enjoy HS, popping in to say hey is one thing-- I think he is on more then Mod 3 and me combined! Not healthy, you are only young once, enjoy it!

I just wanted to formally wish everyone adieu.  I've had a lot of personal reasons that've kept me away, those close to me know the skinny.  The PR nightmare this week was kind of the tipping point. Like everyone else, I've got my own personal opinion of how things went, regardless of the official statements trying to save face in lieu of the evidence. That being said, I gave this some deep thought and with my strong beliefs, I simply can no longer support the NFL or any other organizations therein.

We took an oath never to divulge that information. We went "generic" for good reasons, most of which had to do with our previous participation on other sites.

There would be a lot more members of the 10k (and even 20k/30k) club if all those regular posters from 2007/2008 stuck around.  Neepo, MKDave, Franchise, Jon, etc.  

 

Seems like a lot of posters disappear forever after a few years of healthy posting.   My posting has died down, but I've stuck around (cause I have no where else to go). 

 

I wouldn't be surprised if SAM disappears one day.  Gets older, Meets a girl, he's out of state, the Ravens suck, and one day *poof*.

Franchise is still a reserve mod. Neepo If I Remember correctly got disgusted with he who should not be named and never came back even though he is banned for life, there was a rumor Jon is a Steeler fan and MKDave I have not a clue.

I am the Admin on one site,( no else one is stupid enough to it) I used to do stuff for RSR , love a few people but the ads and posters and my dyslexia make me stay away. Things have changed for me, I now have a real little one his 4th BD is today, so here I stay. One thing I have noticed about Ravens Fans they tend to find a 'home' and stay put, even if I was not a mod I would stay here. I am one of the first 50 posters on my original name.

No that I'm advocating it but could the mods theoretically close a thread to members with less than a certain number of posts?

We have taken this request to a few mod meetings and the BigWigs, aka the admins, one who is the VP of digital media, feel it could be divisive and would like quality vs quantity of posts .

Lets start with a hypothetical forum and posters- we have Arnie and ERIG who have been around, put in their dues aka time and got to the magical 13500 posts. Both very active in the draft did it the right,way. Not picking on ya bud but you do live on this board stealth or not so stealth, SAM who is on here 24/7 not sure he sleeps lol so he gets in 6 months, his idea of a post is 2 words in the DT, pics of cats in the OT forum and 1 or 2 paragraphs in the draft a team game but likes meme's, quoting memes to the point it takes the thread 30 seconds to open. Then there is Squirtle who makes 300 posts in the in the test forum to get his post count up and deletes them, does the same thing in the forums and he gets in the special forum in 6 weeks.

All is going well until SAM makes coy comments to Squirtle in Ravens talk, someone else eludes to another thread and it turns into the "haves" and the "have not yets" and becomes a mess

I remember downloading a Spiderman movie for my then 7 year old son, I hit play and went to get us popcorn...when I came back; well, let's just say that it was a french guy dressed as Spiderman, and that definitely was not his spiderwebs that ... well you know...so that was an awkward conversation I had to have with my son, and lesson learned

I hate how the movies on YouTube start out fine then morph into R rated material. Our 3yo has an hour of video viewing, games or 'surfing the net 3 yr old style' lol. He will be watching something on 'eggos' aka Legos , he slams down the lid 4 mins into the Lego men cursing or shooting, where they were fine before, the do the same thing with matchbox cars. There are some sick people out there smh

When this board started in 2007 they had not quite got the captcha right so some nights there were more spammers then members and about 95% of the spam with some of it extremely graphic porn. My kids could not be around when I first loggedon. Once I was up at my parents house in Deep Creek for Labor Day and was teaching my dad about FF, and he wanted to see what a MB was, I logged on to find10 very graphic post with a slooooooow load on dial up, I was so embarrassed.

My dad looked at me and asked what exactly I did for the Ravens lol

Of course it was not as bad when my entire family, like 25 of us at the time my now 21 yo was a toddler and loved to push buttons and pushed the one on the VCR because he wanted Barney, the music started and the look on my 90 yo grandfathers face was priceless and my dad mumbled that it belonged to my 20 something brother.

Each one of the posts had to be sent to the trash forum by hunting them down and deleting. In 2008 or '09 the Ravens went with Invision and if the spammers get through we have a button that wipe out all the posts and still sent them to the trash and now sends them to the deleted/ hidden post area.

It was also around that time we asked Admin 3 if he could purge the porn so if one of the moderators were at work they would not get in trouble so bye bye porn.

We still get spam, but as much. Invision has a several tier system over their entire that works well plus all noobs are on Mod preview, plus y'all are great in reporting the work at home spam lol and don't see it.

The porn is also why one of the first questions we ask a mod candidate if they are 21 lol

In my defense, I estimate that I lost 3500 posts due to the mods deleting them 

You don't lose posts we don't delete we hide posts, even threads moved to the Trash Forum do not alter your post count. When Invision first took over the forums I think we all lost a lot of posts if you were here in 2007 or 2008. People also lost posts during the great porn purge around the same time period.
