  1. I have been on the field-- side lines-- it's like sorta a sponge and the pellets fly which is pretty cool looking but the thoughts of inhaling the little pellets, or them getting in eyes, ears scrapes -- I don't like it.

I wonder in 20 years in the future we will find out these causes the creeping crud and your skin falls off and it causes cancer.  The underground pipes to keep the field from turning to a skating rink are there, if they can keep the grass grown between gates B and D after November on because the angle of the sum.

Hate artificial turf. It was a real pain to play on, literally.

They are pulling turf for rec league teams and HS teams.  I was field level in Sept when my youngest son tried to play, FHS had put down the field that Summer, it smelled funny and was hotter then hades.  Edit to add this was 5 years ago.

There definitely won't be any new threads. We've been running a continuation with a dwindling fraction of participants as the main course of the game wrapped up on July 22nd. We just figured it wouldn't be an issue traffic wise as there were less than a dozen members remaining since the beginning of TC. We've been down to just six of us for a bit now and would be entirely finished within the next few days either way. That being said, if you'd prefer, we could keep the remainder moving in the PM and just update existing posts in the draft thread with our selections.

Thanks, we moved several of the threads to OT, if you keep it to existing 2 threads would be great thanks

  4. Since the Ravens 2016 road to Super Bowl LI begins this week, we hope, we would like to welcome new members of The Flock and welcome back those that have been on hiatus for the off season. I would like everyone to view the board guidelines, link provided for your convenience

    http://boards.baltimoreravens.com/guidelines/

Our flock that uses BR.com is a diverse group of people of different backgrounds and ages, yet we all come together to talk about our Ravens-- the good and the not so good.

While we are all fans, you may encounter opinions that are different from yours and discussions may become heated and people may forget the Guidelines.  At this time a moderator may step in to remove the offending post(s) and/or coach the member, or warn the member if previous coaching has failed, and get the conversation back on track. Thanks for reading.  Happy posting and go Ravens!

  5. Unitas was the bridge between the Baltimore Colts and Ravens he stood on the 30 yard line-- to bridge the difference.  Peyton Manning was NEVER a Baltimore Colt but he respected our heritage, he was drafted in 1998 first pick round 1.The one thing we did get was Baltimores records are different.then Indys in Canton.  Let's discuss why there was declining attendance.

In the late 1970's the Baltimore franchise under Bert Jones QB and Lydell Mitchell as RB lost to the eventual SB winner 3 years in a row.   MY dad took me to a game or 2 a year.

1981 Irsay traded Bert Jones to the Rams.  Attendance falling because fans didn't want to put money in Irsays pocket.  I

1982 was a strike shortened season , the team went a whopping 0-8-1

In 1983 the number one draft pick was a QB, who refused to come to Baltimore by the name of John Elway, he threatened to play base ball, all because he hated Coach Frank Kush.  Every game people may have chanted "Irsay sucks"  Baltimore fans are not shy of letting our feeling show-- remember the 'Bovine Scat' a couple years ago?

  6. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

I will never forget that snowy March night, I was still in school.  Please don't tell Baltimore Colts fans to 'get over it'.  I had a hard time warming up to the Ravens for two reasons I had 3 little kids 1 an ill newborn and 2 I did not like the way we were taking someone else's team.  A friend of our could not stand my Redskin love, as a Kid I had an AFC team and NFC team, so told me to get a babysitter and took me and my Steelerfan husband to two games, by the end of the second team hubby had written a check for 3'psl's.  My dad bought the 3 rd seat and my mom babysat. (Steelerfan husband converted before I did and comes from far a Western MD so it's understandable) I will never be over the move, but I bleed purple-- I think of it as my HS boyfriend, I graduated from high school and him lol I lost a lot of the acrimony in 2006 season playoffs under Steve McNair, 1 touchdown was all we needed to win that game. I wanted NOTHING to do with football until April.  Steve Bisciotti was a Colts fan and lived through that mess and I'm pretty sure he would not do the same thing to us.

When Flacco was in the draft with Matt Ryan, all you heard was that Flacco, from a backwater school, was a good QB with a strong arm. But Matt Ryan, was a future superstar. As the years passed, these "experts" kept chipping away at Flacco's achievements, while touting Ryan as a "breaking out QB superstar" any day now. Let's be real, if Ryan had the same record as Flacco, he would be listed as a top 3 QB on anybody's list. Now, throw in the sports media's weird bias against the Ravens in general (never understood this, why?), and Flacco gets somehow labeled as overrated. Bottomline, I don't care what the media or anyone else says. I am just glad he's our Quarterback! GO RAVENS! 25

The bias exploded  in the 2000 SB media day and Billick

The Cleaveland media especially Tony Grossi hates us.  I went to ask the GOOGLE how to spell Grossi's name and found this article, the are worse then the old Baltimore Colt fans like me.

Bottom line is Tony Grossi has been on a quest since 1995 to trash anything Art Modell and Baltimore

  8.  The 'Patriot Way ' mantra that they believe in and think they are better then the rest of us and oh so proud of.  The  Steelers have the 'Steeler Way' and we have  'Play Like a Raven' , the Steelers took some hits when Ben was rutting and a few other things, Ravens took a hit with Ray Rice and God forbid Ray Lewis BUT The Steelers rehabbed Ben got rid of some potheads and wife beaters and the Ravens cut Rice But had him come speak, cut Cody the dog abuser and Ray Lewis was punished for obstructing justice and has kept his nose clean. Ray Lewis will stay with us as long as 'roids and the iron curtain.

Now the Pats, they cheated against the Rams to slow the 'greatest show on turf' , pull the obscure rule out to beat us, the Brady  lost fans when he kicked Ed Reed in his groin in 2013. At this point in his career cheating and dirty plays will be Tommy Boys Legacy.  Will he go into the HOF, sure because he is still a hell of a QB without this other BS but the 'Patriot Way' will have taken a hit and the refs seem to watch him closer now.

Finally after several years of trying, I got picked on August 16 to go.  My strategy  was just with the five dates I picked, I just choose weekday dates where there's less demand and will be taking the day off from work.    Those who got picked before you go, call 410 261 RAVE and choose 4 for training camp updates to see if they have practice or not, especially if its weather related.

    Congrats!

Didnt Furstenberg post on here his rookie season?

I feel like i remember him making a couple posts early on in training camp. If it wasnt him, it was someone else from that rookie class.

    I think he did.

I find this kind of humorous, particularly because you already acknowledged that its semantics.

Its not "acceptable" to say a player/coach/FO personnel member "sucks", but it is acceptable to say that he should get fired or be cut because he doesn't know what he's doing. Just trying to understand how the latter isn't considered a "personal attack". To me, it doesn't get a whole lot more personal.

I've always found this quite hilarious...

We don't make the rules but are tasked with enforcing them, we usually have a telephone meeting before training camp make sure everyone is on the same page and if other issues come up I liaison with whom ever I need to.  It is never ok to  call another poster a moron, stupid and they don't know what they are talking about.  We have fans here from 9 to 80 something I'd be pretty unhappy if an adult cussed my kid out, we know who the kids are because parents fill out the COPPA forms.  My 6yo reads the articles with help.
