  1. St. Louis may be the only team in contention for LA if the Raiders/Chargers combined stadium proposal in Carson, CA goes through. The clubs are joining up in an effort to build a $1.7B Stadium on an 168 Acre lot in Carson, 15-20 miles south of LA.

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/02/19/raiders-chargers-to-explore-building-a-stadium-together-in-carson-california/

This was what was in the press release by the Chargers/Raiders

We are pursuing this stadium option in Carson for one straightforward reason: If we cannot find a permanent solution in our home markets, we have no alternative but to preserve other options to guarantee the future economic viability of our franchises.

In short, for the remainder of 2015, we intend to move down two tracks simultaneously:

On track one, we will continue to work in our home markets to find permanent stadium solutions that are publicly acceptable.

On track two, we will work in Carson to preserve our options, and the future economic viability of our franchises, in the event that our efforts in our local markets fail.

This must be leverage by the two teams to stop the Rams from moving to LA first and also to get new stadiums built in Oakland and San Diego where they have been trying for 17 years to one for the Chargers. And didn't I hear a few months a ago that the L.A. Coliseum and the Rose Bowl both would refuse to be a temporary home for the Raiders if they moved down there because of the behavior of their fan base. There was some talk that Dodger Stadium could be an interim facility, but its impossible to fit a football field there without some construction to do so.

If that's true about a interim venue for the Silver and Black, then that leaves either Angels Stadium in Anaheim which was renovated into a baseball only facility, but they play high school football there or the 27,000 seat StubHub Center which is way too small.

  2. Well I mean he could pull an Irsay, up and move the team in the middle of the night. I don't know if they have Mayflower trucks in St. Louis but he could pull an Irsay by moving the team in the middle of the night in a UHaul or Penske truck.

Heck, maybe the city of St. Louis after the Rams leave could make an offer to Mark Davis he can't refuse and get the Raiders.  Either Oakland can keep the A's or the Raiders but can afford to do both.    Had Modell not moved to Baltimore which saved him from bankruptcy, I heard the Buccaneers, Cardinals and Bengals were interested in coming here.

  3. Guess what Kroenke just announced he's going to do with that land?

    Build a Football Stadium.

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/01/05/rams-owner-ready-to-build-an-nfl-stadium-in-l-a/

This has got to be the worst kept secret in NFL franchise relocation, the Browns move to Baltimore to become the Ravens was a close second.  Will Kroenke obey Godell's one year L.A. franchise. relocation moratorium?  Or will he pull an Al Davis?

I was wrong about the Rams value ,they're dead last at 32.   Just merely moving them to LA will put them in Top 5, a new stadium will move them into the top 3, especially if not other team moves.  They ought play in the Rose Bowl for two years and cover up 20,000 seats to make 80,000, they have club seats there, the Coliseum has offered to be an interim location too, but they won't let Kroenke's team play there rent few.  They considered Dodger Stadium but a football field won't fit there.

The Ravens Nest in Bowie folded 6 years ago, I still tailgate with most of them in Lot H before games.

  5. The Rams lease is up in St. Louis and their owner Stan Kroenke recently purchased a large parcel of land in Inglewood, California near the Forum. Is this a leverage ploy to extort money for improvements to the Edward Jones Dome or are they moving back to their old home city?

  6. I won't spend a dime on WWE tickets, I just go to various Indy shows in Baltimore-Washington area.    Went to Eldersburg where Big Time Wrestling and Adrenaline Championship Wrestling packed over 1000 in high school gym, they usually have a WWE Hall of Famer or two on the card to sell tickets.  They have fan fests before bell time and during intermission where you can get autographs, but it costs 20-30 for the bigger names.  I'll be in Gaithersburg at the Montgomery County Fair, for Big Time Wrestling on Friday Night since the weather will be good and its outdoors in the stadium.

  7. I remember those Tuesday night gigs on ESPn - I was into wrestling and roller derby more so back then, especially the T-Birds, and so I became more of a fan of those promotions.

My girlfriend dragged me to the DC Armory to see the T-Birds U.S. tour against the Eastern Renegade All Stars.  They still have a couple of all female roller derby circuits in the area, DC Rollergirls who have bouts at the Michael and Son's Dulles Sportsplex and Waldorf and Charm City Rollergirls, don't know the website but just google it.   I still miss channel 56, an independent public TV station that use to show more college basketball than ESPN and the networks, back when the NCAA produced most of the tournament games, they had a 50 hour marathon once of live and taped games, they showed public affairs during the day and sports and all kinds of off beat programming at night.  During commercial breaks in the sports someone came on asking for money to keep it on. Was Pro Wrestling USA, which was the AWA and NWA co-promotion around here, but was the east coast AWA TV show. DC home until channel 50 switched to being an independent station.t. Movies like Reefer Madness, and I saw the original 1984 on the last day of that year.  Sadly they went to an international "World View" format, the last sports programming was Australian Rules Football on Monday nights which ended a couple of years ago.

  8. One person who did the show on the legendary WNVC Channel 56's show Sports Talk  "Athletic Entertainment'  he said they were mostly entertainers.   ESPN used to have AWA Wrestling on Tuesday Nights and then Roller Derby with the L.A. T-birds being the babyface team and they called it "Slams and Jams".

  9. Sorry for the joke, I think if McMahon didn't lose all those millions, he'd make an offer for TNA.  I went to an indie show that drew 1,000 people in a high school gym in Eldersburg, those organizations usually have a WWE Hall of Famer or two to draw people, it was a copromtion of Adrenaline Championship Wrestling and Big Time Wresting.   I saw Jake the Snake Roberts wrestling in a 6 man tag main event.  After his team won, he gave a 15 minute speech on how he turned his life around.  I'll be going to see Big Time Wreslting at the Montgomery County Fair.  Mick Foley and Jimmy Superfly Snuka are the Hall of Famers in action and there will be a hog pen match which they won't have far to find there.

  10. Going to be in Eldersburg on Saturday night at the Big Time Wrestling-Adrenaline Championship Wrestling card.  Jake the Snake will be in a 6 man tag.  One contest will have the Women's title and the Light Heavyweight best on the line in a mixed tag team match.  The main event is Tommy Dreamer against Shane "The Franchise" Douglas in an extreme rules contest.  There are 3 indy groups putting on cards monthly in Maryland.  The Eastern Wrestling Alliance, Maryland Championship Wrestling and ACW.    Lita when she was inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame mentioned MCW where she once wrestled.

  11. The last WWE card I saw was one that had Bruno Sammartino tag teaming with Hulk Hogan against King Kong Bundy and the One Man Gang as the main event at the Baltimore arena.  I'm thinking about going to see Maryland Championship Wrestling in Waldorf, they have a meet and greet with some of the wrestlers a couple of hours before bell time which makes it more fan friendly.

  12. There are a couple of people I respect in the business, Jim Cornette who marches to the beat of his own drummer, started and worked for a couple of organizations and tells like it is.  Diamond Dallas Page, who saved the lives of Scott Hall and Jake the Snake Roberts, without him they would be dead.

The only good thing I can think that the WWE has done is induct people who were in other organizations in their Hall of Fame, like Gordon Solie who was mostly an NWA man.  Andy Kaufmann should be in the celebrity wing for his feud in Memphis with Jerry the King Lawler which started the "Sports Entertainment" version of wrestling, a few years before Vince made it really happen.  Back in 85 on the then WWF show they said in an opening sequence "The following is a production of the World Wrestling Federation, the leader in sports entertainment:

Ring of Honor said they would move into DC, if their owner Sinclair Broadcasting, buys WJLA.  If they do, they should have cards at the Showplace Arena, rather than the DC Armory.  Went their for the Capital Combat pay per view in May once, it was 75 degrees outside and maybe 110 inside with no a/c.

  13. I know what you mean about old NWA stuff - I really enjoyed those Saturday night shows on the Superstation, and every weekend i just knew it was there.  I miss those days.

Even remember when McMahon bought Georgia Championship Wrestling and "Black Saturday" when the familiar World Championship Wreslting theme comes on then Freddie Miller and Vince come on and say its new home of the WWF at the time.  Didn't last long, angry viewers and Mid South and Championship Wresting from Georgia got better ratings, and Vince sold the slot to Jim Crockett and used the money to finance WrestleMania.

  14. I think Chyna will get into the WWE Hall of Fame, but probably as part of Dengereation X, now that she's out of the adult entertainment business. I'd like to see Andy Kaufman go in as a celebrity, long before Vince McMahon turned into sports entertainment, Andy as part of his comedy bit wrestled women and called himself the intergendered Champion..  In Memphis, Jerry "The King" Lawler challenged Kaufman and put him in the hospital.

Did watch Memphis wrestling on FNN/Score which was the first competitor to ESPN, back in the golden TV age, where you could watch it everyday if you had cable.  Score had a lot of trivia contests and low budget stuff like CFL football,  powerboat racing, and a few regional pro wrestling groups like the one I motioned above, California Championship Wrestling, and the Miavia's Polynesian Pacific Wrestling which was affiliated with the NWA.
