  1. I'd like to win as much as possible and run the table, but if we can't it maybe time to rebuild, then built for the long term, even it if means another losing season. Perhaps get a new GM and let Ozzie retire, Sometimes you have to let go of the past.
  2. Ironically the bar in Arlington where the DC/Nova Ravens Meetup Group watches games, has servers wearing Steeler gear and their fans at the bar while we have the end. Its like being a Chicken served by Col.Sanders. I might have to go the Raven bar in DC instead Mason Inn in Glover Park.
  3. Maybe its time to get a new GM and let Ozzie retire, perhaps promote DeCosta?
  4. If we only had Steve McNair in his prime, we would have won 4 Super Bowls instead of two.
  5. There was a rumor after the 1984 USFL season that "Mr. Nobody" who owned Town and Country Nissan was interested in buying the Federals so he could move them to Baltimore, Instead they were going to move to South Florida as the Miami Spirit with Howard Scehllenberger as the Head Coach, when the move to the fall was announced the team was sold to Real Estate developer Don Dizney and relocated to Orlando as the Renegades with Lee Corso as Head Coach.
  6. I have the Uber app because DC's Metro system is unreliable especially on weekends, where they single track and you could wait 20 minutes or more for a train. There are other alternatives like Capital Bikeshare on a nice day.
  7. Matador Defense because they let the bulls go past them.
  8. I had to deal in a bar in Bethesda with Guy wearing an anti Baltimore Ravens shirt, that said we are the old Browns. I said "you are old NFL Pittsburgh Pirates and you mother was formerly some other last name before she got hitched to your father, what its to you?" and he just walked away.
  9. The ratings must be good for Las Vegas based Paragon Pro Wrestling, in fact they moved from 6 to 8am on Pop. I like New Japan on AXS with the English announcing team, even though the matches are a few months old, the next 5 weeks will feature matches from Wrestlekingdom in the Tokyo Dome. There seems to be an exchange of talent between Ring of Honor and them. Bruce Tharp President of the NWA as well as heel Manager in Japan, tried to negotiate a deal with Spike, who might get back into wrestling, however from what I saw on You Tube, his organization mostly looks like a bunch of matches in high school gyms and needs to improve the TV quality if they want a deal.
  10. Are any of these on NBCSN? Or One World Sports?
  11. Tough times don't last, tough fans do!
  12. WNST-Home of the Legendary "Bob from Parkville" and dead last in the ratings, even worse than a 10 watt "HFS@104.9 from White Marsh.
  13. Nice Cundiff impersonation by Scobee.
  14. To some of my so called friends who hate my team, "I say go ahead, you all would look ugly in purple and black anyway!'
  15. I went to couple of Federals games, back in 1984 was that a local car dealer who had the nickname "Mr. Nobody" thought about buying them and moving the team to Baltimore. First the Feds were sold and going to Miami, under the nickname "The Spirit of Miami" and the U's coach Howard Schenellberger signer to the same duties., the move to the fall forced them to be sold again and going to Orlando.
  16. The Cardinals had two shots at moving to Baltimore. 1986 where the Bidwell family voted on relocating the team from St. Louis and Bill Bidwell decided to go to Arizona because it was warmer than here. There were a few "Baltimore Cardinals" t-shirts printed up. The second was in the mid 90s, when they were unhappy playing in Arizona State's stadium. Had they came here, the band would have had to play "The Cardinals are a charging" their fight song. Heard Charm City was the runner up to get Rams from LA in the mid 90s instead of St. Louis. In the meantime, I went to several Baltimore Stars games in College Park, mostly because people were dumping their tickets. They never played in town and still practiced in Philly, every game was a road game for them that year. They should have at least let them use the old Colts practice facility in Owings Mills so they would have a presence in the area. Went to the Stallions games wearing my CFL Colts T-shirt a lot of the time.
  17. The other rumor was their made their pitch to Davis in 1995 and he refused. The Bucs and Cardinals, I got from John Steadman's book From Colts to Ravens about Baltimore Pro Football history. You can get a copy in decent condition cheap from Amazon.
  18. The Rams went to the Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, CA for joint practices and the pictures show thousands of Rams fans, it was either 3 to 1 or 4. Los Angeles Rams banners, even a giant Stan Kroenke head. The proposed new Rams stadium in Inglewood has room for a second home team locker room, so they could share it. The stadium is scheduled to break ground in December.. There will be at least one LA next season, I predict, which one I don't know. This is a little different from Baltimore in 1995, not only Modell and the Browns were interested in coming here, but the Buccaneers and Cardinals who played 10 years in a college stadium considered this town.. Maryland Stadium Authority head John Moag went with Modell's organization because of their track record, had he not moved, rumor was that Al Davis would have left LA for Charm City.
  19. This link is about Bob Trumpy's negative comments years ago when the original Browns moved here and were reinvented as the Ravens. Wishing us muddy fields and cold hot dogs and nobody outside Baltimore would root for them. I lived in the DC area as I still do and proudly drive my silver Toyota with Ravens affinity plates in Rockville. I'll take wins, titles and glory over the sympathies that Cleveland got when the Browns came back in 1999. Had Modell stayed in Ohio, the Raiders, Buccaneers, and Cardinals were interested in coming here, the last two were in the book from Colts to Ravens by John Steadman. http://articles.baltimoresun.com/1996-08-29/sporhttp://articles.baltimoresun.com/1996-08-29/sports/1996242033_1_trumpy-ravens-art-modellts/1996242033_1_trumpy-ravens-art-modell
  20. I was a Baltimore Stallions fan, and finally jumped on board when the Browns name was left in Cleveland, didn't want. The only friends I need are those wearing purple and black such as the DC/NOVA Ravens Meetup group in Arlington who I watch games with and the former Bowie Ravens Roost who I still tailgate with in Lot H during home games. Us fans are having the last laugh over Trumpy.
  21. The only suitable temporary home that's shown interest is the L.A. Coliseum, but only for one team for a year or so. Rose Bowl, Angels Stadium aren't interested. Dodgers Stadium can't fit a football field and the Stubhub Center in Carson, home of the MLS Galaxy is too small at 28,000. No one wants the Raiders due to the crowd they bring.
  22. I hope to get in next year, although it seems they're better odds of the Seattle Supersonics winning the NBA title, the Hartford Whalers getting the Stanley Cup and the Montreal Expos winning the World Series in the same season next year.
  23. Back in the early days of the team, I lost some friends where I lived in the DC area, just because I was a fan, but replaced them when I joined an now defunct Ravens Roost in Bowie. Also was told to leave Dave and Busters at White Flint Mall in 1997 and was given coupons for the games, because they would show the Ravens. Some people still hate them, but sometimes I shoot back, "We don't want you anyway, because you'd look ugly in purple and black"
  24. Back around 1981 or so, the Washington Capitals were slated to move to Regina, Saskatwan, or Seattle, WA or New Jersey. Abe Pollin was losing money and decide to keep the team if a few promises were kept, the first 10 home games would have to sellout, and the amusement tax would have to be changed. The sellouts were helped by business buying the unsold seats which kept them in DC and then the trade where Ryan Walter went to Montreal in exchange for Craig Laughlin and Rod Langway
  25. You are correct, Scott "The Water Buffalo" Mitchell.
