  1. I don't think we're looking at any high priced CB's.  It's not enough of a need.  If we lost out on Graham, we'll look for another cheap steal like how we got Graham in the first place.  DRC, Munnerlyn, etc. prices aren't going to fall enough to where it makes sense for us to sign one.  We need a 3rd CB.  We need starters in a lot of other places.

Exactly, players who fits the bill of "right player, right price" will freefall in the next few days. I definitely think we need Graham or a competent replacement at #3 as much as we need a starter at FS, the slot is where offenses do a lot of their damage.

  2. Could Peppers be a Hybrid 3-4 and 4-3 Defensive End?  I think he could and he might be a steal considering his age and that we lost Arthur Jones.

He has the power and size to do it but he has no motor, this is the guy who was making 15M a year and wanted to be a 290lb OLB, so I doubt he wants to two gap for chump change.

  3. DRC is probably looking for Talib type money. And combined with his dumb comments about retiring I'd stay away from him. Hm. Tarrell Brown maybe? I don't really see us going after a starting corner to play slot.

They're all looking for Talib money but a few of them are going to lose the FA sweepstakes, thats where we come in.

  4. Munny is looking for a starting job and a decent payday, he's not gonna settle for a backup job after the year he had. I don't like him as a starter, he's too short and more of a product of CAR's defense/system, just like Mike Mitchell. He'd be a really good slot corner though but I doubt that's gonna happen.

Yeah I pictured him in the slot. DRC is another option, the talent and value is there but I would question his commitment.

  5. Is Pettigrew available?? If so, we need to make him a big priority. Absolutely perfect fit for us and what we need.

Do we need a blocking TE or a vert threat?

James Jones or Sanders would be far better signings than Steve Smith, Probably cheaper too.

James Jones has stone hands and Sanders value bottomed out when he failed to thrive as a starter, the Steelers wish they could go back and get that 3rd from the Pats.

  6. I'm sure Ozzie knows Smith isn't a long term option. We'd still desperately need another receiver and in this deep draft I don't believe he'd neglect that with that signing. It would allow us to focus on other positions such as FS & OL which are both just as important and tougher to find.

Rookie receivers rarely ever make a seamless transition and immediate impact in the pros, AJ Green is the only one that comes to mind in recent years. So signing someone like Smith would be in an effort to win NOW, not in a few years.

  7. He caught 100+ balls for over 1000 yards last season in 16 games. Made a ton of tough catches in traffic over the middle. Wouldn't call him "glass".

Thats his only healthy season and he barely made 1000 yards with 100 balls thrown by a future HOFer. Thats 10 yards per catch which may be the lowest ever for 100+ balls.

    I like his hands though.

  8. 3 million on a one year "prove it" deal for a solid/proven starting safety is nothing which is why the Phins picked him up instead of spending a lot more cash in a long term deal on Clemons. They already have one of the highest paid safeties in the league. Good move by Miami.

Evan at that price it's a high risk move, Delmas is really injury prone and will miss games. What is the market like for Clemons?

  9. I hope Oher is gone too, but Harbs fielding him because he's one of "his guys" is far from the case.  When we had better tackles on the roster, they were lazy, unmotivated or injured (McKinnie, Gaither).  Not much choice but to field Oher.

Wagner, a mid round rookie played better when given the opportunity, thats how awful Oher was last season. He should have been benched.
