The Ultimate Warrior has passed away aged 54.
From Paris With Love with John Travolta any good?
Excellent. One of those films that is a ton better than it looks.
Only if he's in shape.
We've also met with Ra'Shede Hageman. He might be a first round pick but not at #17.
Hell become the most dominant lineman out of this draft.
The only downside is he's not scheme versatile.
What do you usually get for your fifth round pick, probably something like:
33% chance of a pre-season cut
33% chance of a career special-teamer
33% chance of a starter
1% chance of an all-pro
Getting a seasoned vet who can play multiple positions on the OL entering the prime of his career is a bargain, nice one Ozzie!
Only 5% of fifth round or later picks will re-sign with the team that drafted them let alone start, thats why Ozzie is flipping them for immediate contributors.
It's not serious interest unless the player is scheduled to visit.
The Zuttah trade means we can draft the best offensive lineman available in any round.
I'm happy with this, it also seems to indicate a more long term focus on ZBS. Now all we need is some firepower at LG or RT.
Athletic, smart and great mover, but he's not really stout though from what Ive read, he gets skated back to the QB which is kind of the thing we're trying to avoid.
That's why taking Zach Martin at 17 makes the most sense at this point. It gives us a guy that is similar to Yanda and has less tread on his tires.
I don't think hes a sure fire stud, Joel Bitonio and Antonio Richardson have similar upside and position versatility but in the 2nd.
Right now (since this is the free agency thread) there are still a few decent stopgaps who are far better than Shipley.
Our interior could be a serious issue over the next few years, Gino is the worst centre in football, Yanda is 30 and is starting to slow down and there's absolutely no guarantee that KO will get back to where he was.
Has anyone been watching Resurrection? it's pretty interesting so far but the tropes are familiar. I also recommend Game of Arms, it's low brow but damn entertaining.
Not to be that guy but Evans is neither a free agent or defensive player.
How much cap do we have now?
I haven't seen Clemons play at a high level in both spots but maybe you've seen more than I have. The games I watched he does just enough to not be exposed in coverage. I agree that Decoud isn't consistent, but I think he has more upside. Clemons you know what of you're getting but I don't like the fact that a lot of his strengths overlap with Elam's. Both are better closer to the line of scrimmage and Clemons just feels like another ihedigbo situation.
I'm probably under valuing Clemons coverage ability a bit with the ihedigbo comparison, but he doesn't fit ozzies description of what he's looking for at the position. Decoud may not consistently fit the description but he's at least sheen the potential to do so.
Clemons isn't a ballhawk and wont create turnovers but he's fast and is strong in deep coverage, you can't always track him because of the cameras but if the ball is in the air he'll go stride for stride and shut it down. His ability to cap the backend is valuable especially to teams vulnerable to the deep ball.
We've been linked to Guion. What do you guys think of that? He was a pretty solid rotational DT with the Vikings for a few years. Don't think he fits the bill as a 3-4 lineman though.
They don't seem to like him on their forums, he's described as a below average rotational player. Alex Carrington would be better but he's not a starter either.
Theres also the trade option, we could target one or two big specimens approaching their final year, someone like Brandon Brooks or Marcus Cannon.
Also in regards to the centre problem, Birk showed in his last few seasons that a slow centre could anchor a ZBS system if he has the size and smarts.
What Tank92 said.
Jacoby Jones is a playmaking returner who can fill in at receiver in a pinch, but he doesn't have the skill set to be a starting wide receiver.
I also don't understand why anyone thinks our corps of Dennis Pitta, Torrey Smith, Marlon Brown and Steve Smith is a group that needs to be urgently upgraded before our offensive line. Not even Usain Bolt is getting open if Flacco has two seconds to throw and can't step up in the pocket.
DeCoud hasn't played well overall in Atlanta, which is why he's gone. Clemmons has been solid but unspectacular in Miami. So on the whole I'd say they're pretty even, because DeCoud has shown he's a playmaker, but is highly inconsistent, while Clemmons would just be there but probably not add much more than stability. I think what it comes down to is that DeCoud just was't available until last week, so he wasn't a potential fit in anyone's mind. I wouldn't mind either for the right price.
This is why we need Clemons, he's shown to be more than capable in deep coverage which gives him the versatility to play both spots at a high level. Theres no prime Ed Reed out there so I'll take solid and unspectacular over getting torched.
Alex Carrington will come at the same price as Guion and is much, much better.
Until he gets his head right and is coming in 100% committed then I'm not interested in what he has to say or speculation on "what ifs". He's either a Raven or he's not.
I don't understand the Clemons love. He can go either way bc he can cover pretty well, but is better suited as a SS.
I'm surprised there hasn't been more love for Decoud (unless he got signed already and I missed it). He had a down year but is only 1 yr removed from a pro bowl nod and 8 INTs (maybe it was only 6?).
Either way he's closer to the rangy, center fielder with ball skills that Ozzie described. He'll likely be cheaper too. I think we're just waiting for someone else to set his market, which the longer it goes without developing - the cheaper he'll come.
He's certainly not a sure thing but he can compete with Omar Brown and brings pro bowl potential and play-making ability.
He also leaves us enough cap flexibility to aggressively pursue Alex Mack or de la puente should that fall through. We should also then have the money to make a few depth signings either at cb, d line, oline, wr or rb and truly go BPA in the draft.
From what I could gather from the Falcons forums DeCoud had one good season, but he was terrible against the run and once the turnovers dried up he was expendable. Good personality, if that matters.

The timing makes me uncomfortable, I really hope it wasn't suicide that would be an even bigger shame. He leaves a wife and two children.
