  1. The "decision" was a joke. The statements were jokes. I just don't like the guy. Not a big deal, just don't like him. The attempts to compare his career to Jordan's bother me as well. I was the 13 year old with 8 Jordan posters as wallpaper in his room, rocked #23 for 12 years myself and will forever love his gameplay.

I gotta agree with you and Inqui here, LeBron is a transcendent basketball player and (unlike Jordan and Kobe) actually seems like a legitimately nice guy.... but I just can't stand him. Watching the Heat implode was beautiful.

  2. Repeating for emphasis: These guys are most likely being brought in for quality depth and to bring more veteran experience to a very young secondary. These guys will be given a shot for the number three CB spot, but I still think Asa or Chykie pull away with it.

Thats a good point, a guy like Asa may have "experience" entering his 3rd season but I don't think he's dressed very often let alone made the statline.

  3. I wouldn't say he's bad in press. I'd say he's hit or miss, literally and figuratively.

Once his technique is worked out I think he'll make a fine press corner.

I don't think it's that. I think the coaches just really want more bodies. How many CBs do we have? Four, and two of them aren't exactly starter material yet.

I was expecting competition, but by competition I mean an upgrade. Chykie isn't the most consistent but he doesn't get torched any more than the bums we're bringing in.

  4. Have you seen him in press?  It's not pretty.

Either way, I think this is getting a little off topic.  The point still remains that Flowers can fit scheme wise, but maybe not money wise.

The point is thats why he was drafted, but now that twitter says we're raiding the scrapheap for tryouts I'm assuming Chykie is no longer seen as viable. Even if Pees sticks with mixed coverages Jimmy Smith is limited when we're in zone and Flowers is limited in man.

  5. I definitely believe they want him to play more and more press.  I think his technique was always his biggest obstacle and he looked greatly improved in that area last year.

Regardless, I think this has gone a little off tangent from my original point lol.  That's probably my fault as I could have expanded a bit.  My point was that Jimmy is our only real press CB and even he lines up in off man coverage a large majority of the time.  Flowers does fit if we can make it work financially.

Chykie Brown is a press corner, he has 34 inch arms and literally said that press coverage is his biggest strength along with recovery speed. He's currently the frontrunner as our nickel corner (outside).

  6. Can't argue with the first part, but Flowers still fits.  Our defense would still have plenty of zone and off man coverages even with a true single high safety.  Single high safeties aren't exactly the easiest to find either.  Brooks could be it but we haven't even got to see him play yet.

I'm not advocating that we only play press thats just the way we're built at the moment. With that said Chykie is still unproven and we probably should upgrade the depth but I'd prefer someone with a more rounded skillset.

  7. I can always count on you to step up and make sense. Appreciate it.

This place is a madhouse whenever someone is cut, any known name regardless of if the guy is a good fit or not. It reminds me of Laker fans, "Oh man we gon get Lebron, Melo, Love, Durant, Rose, Griffin..."

  8. Heres another problem I see with Flowers on our defense, even if you move Webb to slot Flowers is more limited than Chykie is man press coverage, which along with single high safety is what our defense is geared towards, we brought in Huff and now Brooks to replace Reed in deep alignment, and big press corners in Jimmy and Chykie who are projected to pair up on the outside. You could throw Flowers in the mix (ignoring that he doesn't want to be a backup) and a lot more cover 2-3-4 looks but that wouldn't be playing to our strengths.

  9. To build on the point Bullrush made we have two corners that play over 90% of the defensive snaps, Corey Graham played 63%. Does anyone seriously think Flowers would want to be a backup when he could be a starter for a cover 2 team? oh yeah, he also doesn't like to play the slot.

  10. Oh, so because you said it, it must be true? I'm finally understanding how this is working...

You can't just base it off of one injury plagued year where he was used in a different scheme that didn't fit his skill set. I will take previous years where he was healthy and in the correct scheme over one year where he was injured and in the wrong position for him.

You can base it off what he did years ago when it was just two years ago that he was top 10, easily, and top 10 for a few years prior as well.

Dean Pees uses quite a bit of off man, anyway, and it's a very popular NFL scheme. Not being able to play press man is hardly a concern, which he actually can play, despite his smaller size.

$5 million for a top cornerback? Pfft, I'd take that any day.

    Refer back to post #96.

  11. He's an off man coverage corner who was a top 10 for the previous couple years before being asked to cover the slot, a position he was unfamiliar with and apparently dislikes. Let's also not leave out the nagging injures.

I'm not saying the Ravens will get him, but let's not act like he's a bad player.

I said he's neither the right player or price, declining production, can't play slot, can't press, wasn't worth his 5 something mill pricetag. You don't pay a guy based off what he did years ago.

  12. Well, the Ravens have a little over $4 million available right now, and it's a fairly big possibility that Koch, Ngata, and Canty are gone next year. With the cap set to continue escalating, it's not out of the question.

Do you really think we're going to get in a bidding war for a zone corner on the decline? right player right price for which he is neither. Lets put this pipe dream in the trash with all the others.

  13. What's your favorite Bone Thugs track?

Glad to see there's another CJ Fly fan here. Chance and Joey get a lot of love but I really believe CJ's "Thee Way Eye See It" was one of last year's best mixtapes.

Pro Era have the best eye for young talent but the production is hit and miss for me, I salute to the 90s but they need to move out of the past.

I'm just moving on man, tired of Kendrick and Duck Down. Even Freddie Gibbs new s all sounds the same.
