This is great news! Harbs losing his buddies
lol! Now if we can rid Joe of his buddy Dennis and save a good amount of cap, all will be well in Baltimore!
I'm sick of flacco throwing these 5 yard dinks to pitta bread too
I respect Bisciotti's stance - at least he acknowledged that coaching/ drafting could be much better. Like I said, I think he's going to wait one more year, and if things don't change, then he will have to choose between Oz and Harbaugh- one of them clearly needs to go, and I think Oz loses out because he can't fill the cupboard as well as he used to -- so John is forced to play with a crappy hand.
But Ozzie definitely gave him elite $$$
Well at least we can finally all agree now that Flacco is not elite.
I'm also sick of watching Flacco throw these little dinks to his boy, Pitta bread-
I still don't know why we extended Flacco- that was a bonehead move- we should've sucked it up and pressed the reset button then. Now, this team is paralyzed for the next 2-3 years with Joe's contract. No offense, but what kind of QB isn't a Capt in college?
Bisciotti is giving everyone one more year- if we have the same/ worse results next year, I can't see how wholesale changes won't be made. Harbaugh needs to win, and Oz needs to give him better players- also, I'm sure in Harb's mind, he wants to win a championship outside of Ray Lewis and Ed Reed's shadow. Since those guys left, this team has no emotion (that's why Flacco was never a captain in college) and no players that strike fear in their opponents. i agree, we've gone away from our identity of playing smash mouth defense. If I were Flacco, I'd give some money back to the team because of his avg Joe / poor play. I'm sick of him throwing 5-8 yard dinks to his best friend, Pitta bread.
I would hope out of 15 draft picks in 2016 that a couple of them would be keepers- still does not take away from the fact that Oz/ DaCosta drafted badly in the past 5-6 years. That's why our team isn't up to par because we don't have a good base of younger players at first contracts. Hopefully we'll do better this year- who cares about the compesentory picks and trading back- we need some studs and some playmakers and some people with attitude to get us going again..
Texas- John Simon has become a stud since leaving us, but he's injured now
I've lost all faith in Oz / DaCosta several years ago- he had to do an even better job now that avg joe flacco got paid and we had less cap- and he failed. i can understand Flacco's first contract, but Oz should've done everything possible NOT to extend/ restructure avg Joe's contract to make him the highest paid QB. I think there's a chance that DaCosta leaves this year because he sees this ship sinking -- and Bisciotti might consider selling the Ravens because he can't stand to lose- who knows, maybe Bisciotti will bring back Ray to coach the Ravens down the road- this team has no passion, no aggressiveness - Harbaugh has a certain type of player he wants and those are the ones we have and see where that's gotten us. Also, I can't remember the last time Jimmy played a full season- he's definitely the best defensive player we have but is always, always injured. Let's hope Oz doesn't forget to draft a cornerback this year- he seems to forget about this position until the 4th or 5th round
For real, I can't remember when Jimmy Smith was healthy for a whole season- I don't think he's ever played all 16 games during the regular season- we need to draft some more durable players like Perriman
What's also kind of funny is that Harbs and Rosburg, while Special Teams coaches, got outsmarted by Belichick again- had it not been for that one blocked fg, Tucker would've had a perfect season- I'm sure that's killing Harbs and Rosburg, and the Wolfpack on the inside- it should've never happened, but ironic how the Pats and Belichick of all people prevented the perfect season- I guess what goes around comes around- I felt badly for Tucker this happened due to the oversight of our coaches
What's funny is that Oz was trying to low ball Tucker with his contract even though he's the best kicker in the league and then Tucker called Oz's bluff by saying that if a deal wasn't done by the deadline then he'd leave - funny how Oz had to surrender to Tucker's demand and funny how he tries to low ball every one (e.g. Anquan, Osemele, etc..)- I'm sure that leaves a bad taste in their mouths, but that's also how he was able to sign Jimmy Smith on the cheap. I hope Brandon Williams doesn't get offended by Oz's first offer either to the point where he's like Osemele and doesn't even want to come back.
i like how we sugarcoat things - "Stanley was PFF’s 18th-best graded left tackle in the NFL over the entire season, but he would have been higher had he not dealt with a foot injury earlier in the year."
He will be solid though, but guess what he'll also be gone because we won't have enough cap space to sign in after his rookie contract comes up. Ozzie never had to deal with giving such a large portion of the salary cap to a QB/ Flacco, so it makes his job even harder- besides the bad drafts over the past 6 years, he has to be even better at what he does as a GM, but as you can see, ever since we gave Flacco that big contract, he hasn't been a good GM because he doesn't have as much money to burn anymore- that's why we haven't been able to build a good base and haven't been able to keep any of our young studs- bye, bye Brandon Williams
I think he would've stayed another year if we were close to playoff contention or had a playoff quality team- we didn't, so he left. Also, that last game was sad because of the way he went out- we didn't do anything special for him- Flacco was having a field day just trying to only throw short passes to his bff, Pitta bread, all day long...literally.. I would've retired if that happened to me as well.
i think they forgot to fire Castillo again
Flacco stares down his receivers worse than a stalker stares his next victim- that's exactly what happened when Pitta bread recently got picked off in the end zone.
Perriman has big potential, but they should find another speed guy in the offseason
Perriman has big potential? If so, he would've done a lot better than he did in 2016- stop drinking the purple Kool-Aid
maxx Williams = matt elam
I think we need to cut Flacco and start all over- even better, cut Oz and DaCosta too and get Scot McCloughan from Washington to run things in Baltimore-
Defensive stats are meaningless if your defense does great in quarters 1-3, but can't hold a lead in the 4th, and this describes the Ravens 2016 defense.
Right, I think I said that in my post. People that don't actually follow the Ravens might wonder why the fans here in Baltimore are sick of Pees when he turns in a top ranked defense. Well, they'd have to watch the team to understand.
We had the easiest schedule in 2016 because we were so terrible in 2015- so our defense wasn't really top ranked because we recently played against so many inferior teams
Mornhinweg will most likely get fired next year by Harbs. Also, you can't expect this team to win on both the offense and defense sides of the house because we simply have no base or foundation of young players who can help at a low cost because we've drafted so terribly over the past 5 years.
I told you all that Flacco isn't elite- if he was, then he'd elevate the players around him (e.g. Rogers, Brady, etc..). Anyhow, I do give a ton of credit for being able to get two huge contracts from the Ravens FO considering that he's an above avg qb at best- I mean that's what he excelled at- taking it to the bank.
I can't see us giving him more than a 2 year contract for $1.5M / season. Oz will manage to find a way to try and low ball him like he did with Torrey, Osmele, and Anquan.

I don't see age, I see a bunch of hand me down players- I wish Ray would come back and lead my team to another SB. Ever since he left, there wasn't another leader, by himself, that could step up the way I did, Harbaugh included.
