I hear ya. Makes sense. Him just putting Decosta is lame, but at least it's not half as lame as some of these other users that just put others down while they pretend what others say is "wrong". When 99% of the stuff put on here is opinion. People like rmcjacket and Conquerworm. Unfortunately I stooped to their level after seeing their numerous disgusting responses to others just harmlessly posting their 2 cents. I'll just feel bad for those 2 sad users instead. We're all ravens fans here. Obviously. Even if we disagree, we should be able to discuss that decently. In fact, when people disagree it usually makes for a more interesting discussion, if a discussion in fact is what it is.
The KO thing we do disagree on. It happens.
The Wright thing is the most frustrating thing I've seen in years. It 's probably even worse than letting Q go. Maybe. The contract was one thing. Relying on him going into the season is another. Even another thing that he gets torched worse than just about any corner has ever in weeks 2-6 or so. BUT THEN, we bring him back, AND he's guarding AB in Pittsburgh with the entire season on the line.
The coaching wasn't just awful last year, it really was embarrassing. Unreal that Steve brought these coaches back. Especially when Shannahan was available. Would've been the very best thing that could've happened to Flacco and the RavensI am a little different on the Q thing because from what i remember, without trading Q we couldnt have landed Doom, maybe im wrong. But what made no sense to me is that the FO traded Joe's go to guy after giving him the massive contract and didnt bring anyone in to help. I believe our FO has lacked giving Joe enough talent around him. Just look at the collection of talent we had on offense in our SB year, we didnt have any elite WR but we had a collection of guys that did great and we also had a great RB. I think the RB position is key to our success, more than most.
Honestly, Decosta knows more about football than anyone on here, so its kind of a compliment, i just stating his lack of effort to form a competent response.
Yeah, what's crazy to me is even after as many whiffs as we've had for several year running now in the high rounds, and bad signings, and all that. We still easily had at least the second most talented roster in the AFC last year. Yet we didn't make the playoffs. Solely because of coaching imo. But I think it's borderline fact too. Just so disheartening. Not to mention they ALL come back, except for the one awesome coach, Frazier. Just a massive bummer
Yeah couldn't disagree with this more. We have major talent issues all over our roster. In particular, I think it would be largely difficult to name many talented players on our roster under the age of 30 at the moment, which is a MAJOR problem.
The biggest difference between us and Pittsburgh last year was playmakers and talent. Their offense is riddled with All-World and above average players at nearly every position. Ours is pretty much the exact opposite.
Like nobody realistically looks at our roster compared to a Pittsburgh, Dallas, Atlanta, etc. and thinks that we are on the same playing field. Just because you play those teams tight doesn't mean you're as good as them.and we completely disagree. what else is new
Steelers have Antonio Brown- we have Kamar Aiken. Pittsburgh has Rothlesberger - we have Flacco. Pittsburgh has Le'Veon Bell - we have Terrance West.
Enough said. Our roster sucks and lacks star power
The last time we gave KO a "competitive offer" he was very offended and didn't want to negotiate with us any more.
"RAVENS GIVE 'VERY COMPETITIVE' OFFER TO RICK WAGNER"
Doesn't mean a thing. That was the exact same phrase ("a very competitive offer") they used about Osemele last season - and we all know how that worked out...Yea, making him a top 5 paid G in the league, how disrespectful.
usmccharles = eric dacosta
Steelers can keep Brown, but we can't keep anyone because of bad salary cap management, money tied up to old vets. Other teams sign their players early, before their contract comes up, and we wait until the end- Ozzie needs to go and he can take DaCosta with him. Supposedly KO got a competitive offer, and it left a bad taste in his mouth and he left for Oakland and made the pro bowl and also made that o-line better. Oz also tried to low ball justin tucker, the only notable player we've been able to keep in the past couple of years, and he's a kicker, and Tucker threatened the Ravens and said he'd wouldn't come back to the Ravens if he was franchised- believe me, we would've franchised him to keep him around cheaper for one year until that threatening statement. To make a long story short, we've just had bad drafts, bad cap management, and bad fa signings of senior citizens and we've tried to low ball our good players to the point where they are offended and want to leave..
We need all the help we can take, so this extra 3rd round pick will be good. people said last year's draft was good, but i think the jury is still out on that. plus, we had 100 picks last year, so you figure oz and dacosta would at least nail a couple of picks. too bad we didnt find a stud last year that can contribute right away. anyhow, we need to start hitting on these drafts, like now, because oz and dacosta have already set us back 5 years with the past 5 drafts
Look, the kid is a nice guy and has an interesting name, but the fact is that he can't block- Vontae tried to teach him, but he just doesn't have it in him- although he might have been 'ranked' the #2 fullback in the league (out of 4 fullbacks in the NFL), there's a reason why we ranked 28th in the league for rushing- he's part of the blame.
Yea you can keep saying that over and over again, but saying he can't block is an extreme exaggeration for this season. And again there is not doubt in my mind that you are basing your opinion on him based on just TWO plays. But it seems you must know more than the pundits, coaches, and other players that have complimented him on his blocking. If you can find an article online or anywhere that says Juice was a terrible blocker this year I would love to see it. You are going to be looking for a while. And again Im not saying the guys is Leach but saying he can't block is absurd, which is par for the course for you. Now I know you remembered the two plays against the Pats and the Giants where Juice had bad plays, but if you are in fact basing you opinion on the guy based on the entirety of the season you should be able to name other instances when he screwed up. am not saying there aren't other instances where he messed up but I don't think you would be able to name any of them off of the top of your head. Which would validate my theory that those two plays are all you remember of Juice this season. Lets see the video of all the other times he messed up. Post a link, I would be interested in seeing it.
The other possibility is that you are basing your evaluation of Juices play on those two plays and his play from last season. He did struggle last season in the blocking department. Here is quote talking about just that.
"Juszczyk is the top-ranked fullback in the league, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF), with a plus-7.4 grade. Last year, Juszczyk had more yards (321) and scored four touchdowns, but he had negative blocking grades. This year, PFF rates him as the second-best blocker in the league behind the New England Patriots’ James Develin. Running back Terrance West
has rushed for a career-high 729 yards and five touchdowns."
Juice can stay as long as we don't over pay him like we did Pitta bread- don't expect the 28th ranked defense to improve that much if he comes back.... he still can't block no matter what you say.. vontae leach's kid can block better than juice
ravens will want to keep him for $1.1M- he can't block that well - definitely not like vontae did- that's why we finished 28th in the league last year in rushing. oz will probably overpay him bc some fans like him - even though he can't block even if he was behind the wheel of a semi truck
terribly, terribly overated player. I would hardly consider him an average player. If we retain him for anything more than 1 mil a year, we're in a worse state than I thought. He'll flee though, luckily perfect timing for us. We can't even keep our good players, cuz our Ravens contracts are terrible and embarrassing. But luckily in about 5 ways, it's perfect timing fro him to leave. NOT JOKING AT ALL, the only reason our fans are stoked at ALL that like him, is cuz they get to chat JUICE. SERIOUSLY. Our franchise is falling apart. We are either playing Brady in the championship next season, or WE ARE STARTING OVEr. ****
poor, poor opinion and basis.
The Ravens have under utilized the Fullback position primarily because they couldn't get to the second and third level play options.
"Juice" is a good player, better than many average TE and 2nd string running backs last year in the NFL. Making the pro-bowl and ratings by the NFL pundits helps but the key is to get him involved in 35-45% of the plays.
In order to do that the Ravens need running backs that can produce at a 40-50% play level. emphasis on "produce"
The issue is that the Ravens kept 3 TE that couldn't produce last year and a wasted RB spot on Allen.
Take Juice out of the equation, the RB's and TE's last year would not have improved.
So my opinion is to let Watson and Gilmore go.
Keep Juice, Waller, Pitta and Boyle- Max Williams on the bubble. and develop plays to utilize Juice as a quasi FB/TE/ Slant option type player especially of they do not pick up a veteran slot receiver.
The big move in my opinion has nothing to do with Juice staying. It is let Allen or West (or both go) and pick up a # 1 RB and use Dixon as a #2, then Juice becomes a major part of the running/option game.
The Ravens need a +1000yd, big play RB, unfortunately neither Allen or West could reach that level. Dont waste time or money on such important positions such as #1/#2 RB and then complain about a nominal cost supporting role of a multi position FB.
"but the key is to get him (Juice) involved in 35-45% of the plays." Are you kidding me? You're making Juice to seem like he's Le'Veon Bell or Tyreek Hill - LOL.... this is Juice we're talking about- Come on man! You need to stop smoking Elam's stuff
was a garbage pick at the time and it's not come full circle. the list of wasted 1st and 2nd round picks in recent years is staggering
Bisciotti said that Oz and DaCosta could do a better job with draft at the year end presser but still has not done anything about it after 5-6 years worth of terrible drafts
At least this now prevents Ozzie from trying to bring him back at a cheaper salary- you know that's what was going to happen because we invested so much (1st round pick) in him... With a felony record, if guilty, he won't even be able to work at Foot Locker - he basically ruined his whole life by making an idiot decision. Thug life.
He will come back because no one uses full backs any more- we use one, but maybe we should change things up consideirng we were 28th in the league in rushing last year.
Shanahan is very FB oriented coach and now with 49rs he has more than enough to spend on versatile FBs like Juice. At least much more than we'd be willing to.
Shanahan obviously doesn't like to run the ball as witnessed in the SB- so maybe this is a match made in heaven bc Juice can't spell block with his harvard degree- nice kid though, he just is overrated.
I will take pitta over Watson any day of the week reguardless of salary
Really why? Pitta is smaller then Watson, slower then Watson and doesn't come close to the career production that Watson has put up. (Watson in 11 seasons - nearly 5000 yards and 38 TDs / Pitta is 6 seasons has just over 2000 yards and only 13 TDs
Watson is coming off of a serious injury but his pales in comparison to Pitta's injuries. Pitta is 5 years younger but I do not believe that his body knows that.
and we have Watson at nearly 1/2 the salary as Pitta. Just curious why you say that you would rather have Pitta over Watson every day of the week... (I can only assume that this has more to do with non-football related preferences)?I would choose Pitta over Watson as well. Pitta had a decent season with 700+ yards by just getting back from injury, he's younger than Watson; Watson about to be 37 Pitta is 31. Pitta gets open and a relivable target for Joe along with the connection. We don't even know what we are gonna get from Watson after his injury. IDK, just my opinion. I keep Pitta.
Pitta's is way better than Watson it ain't even close Watson is about 35 years old coming off acillies injury
While I agree based on the age and the injury, prior to those, nobody would have taken Pitta over Watson.
At the moment, yes. But this team last year, no way.
Pitta and Watson both aren't that good, but Oz likes to rent the old FA for a year or two, hoping that the player provides leadership on our leadershipless (thanks avg Joe Flacco) team
Releasing Pitta with a post June 1st designation would be beneficial to the cap as a deferred cost. There are expenditures post June 1st that add up quickly, such as rookie contracts, and possible late season cuts added to the roster.
Downside is it pushes dead money into future years, so you're essentially paying cap space for a player who hasn't been on your roster for two seasons.
Hey- we've already done this with Eugene Monroe and Ray Rice- so why not add Pitta to the list. Maybe we need a new GM after all- and I'm not talking about DaCosta because I think DaCosta's been picking players as of late- or both DaCosta and Oz should let Bisciotti draft players this year because our drafts in Harbaugh era have been flawed
On the bright side, Juice is not likely to give us bad press like Elam just did- so maybe we keep him around in an effort to try and keep our image clean. I don't know why we keep drafting all these questionable players- Oz thinks he's getting character players but they're really not- I'm not even talking about the two tight ends we have that were busted for PEDs...
37 catches, 266 yards, 5 carries, 22 yards, 1 TD. I don't think anyone will mistake him as the next Jim Brown.
Let him walk. Use the money on a tackle/center and/or a CB.Totally agree. Let him walk. Also, hardly a good lead blocker in the run game. Get a real fullback.
If your definition of being "hardly a good lead blocker" is a guy who comes in 2nd in the league in blocking proficiency, then yea he is "hardly a good lead blocker: That said, I am not opposed to the idea of letting him walk.

"oz will probably overpay him bc some fans like him"
Are you implying that popularity is one of the factors that the FO uses to decide who gets signed and who doesn't.
You're right about the fact that Juice is no Vontae leach, but I don't think he was as bad as people like yourself are making him out to be. The guy was rated as the second best blocking FB in football. He is an above average blocker. He did have a few big misses in the blocking department. The two that stand out most are in the links below.

To be fair in this play there was a communication breakdown on the Oline. Nobody blocked Malcolm Brown. And when Juice is 1 on 1 with a 320lb DT he is going to lose that battle every time.

at 5min 50sec
And the handful of plays where he didn't block well, are the plays that you are basing your opinion on. He made a big improvement in his blocking skills this year compared to the last. With all of that said I wouldn't be terribly upset if he signed somewhere else.
He will come back because no one uses full backs any more- we use one, but maybe we should change things up consideirng we were 28th in the league in rushing last year.
For us, we'd improve the game if we had some play makers to watch
ravens will want to keep him for $1.1M- he can't block that well - definitely not like vontae did- that's why we finished 28th in the league last year in rushing. oz will probably overpay him bc some fans like him - even though he can't block even if he was behind the wheel of a semi truck
Pitta bread needs to stop worrying about styling his greasy head so that he looks like Lance Bass- Pitta also needs to stop worrying about trimming Flacco's unibrow and taking credit for Flacco's improved style- forget the bromance - forget the looks, focus on football guys.. Cut juice while you're at it- he's overrated
We sure know how to draft Tight Ends who love performance enhancing drugs. Anyhow, we need to break up this bromance between Flacco and Pitta bread and even Juice- they are all hanging out and there was a conspiracy last year for Flacco to throw all these dink passes so Pittabread could get his $3M back in incentives. Anyhow, in order for Flacco to play better, we need to take Pitta bread away, and we need to take Juice away too- Juice couldn't block if he was driving a semi truck on the football field.
The chargers didn't deserve Weddle. He should have been a Raven from rookie campaign.
We dont deserve him either - he's not going to make the playoffs with our team either
Give him Julio Jones and he still won't throw the ball any better !
If you think having one of the best WRs in the NFL wouldnt improve Joe's game....then by all means, carry own and i will leave you be.
We'll never have one of the best WRs in the NFL because Oz and DaCosta wouldn't be able to identify the best if he was standing right in front of them. Same thing can be said of safeties and tight ends as of late...Flacco would still be Avg Joe regardless unless he has a line like the cowboys protecting him...
Flacco's best skill/ trait was that he was able to fool the Ravens into making him the highest paid QB- once he got that fat contract, he never lived up to it, but then he tricked Oz again, when he got his contract resctructured- lol.. He's not elite, and he's not even that good any more.. but somehow, we made him one of the highest paid QBs- smh on this one
Another little peek inside this "tortured" mind. My fiancée works with kids with developmental and emotional disabilities and the Ravens are very kind to support them. Brandon Williams always volunteers to work with these kids. And it's not in a fund raising capacity, he is one on one, personally working with and helping these young children. Let me tell you, this is not an easy thing from time to time. Yet Williams is there time after time, giving of himself and not just to sit and sign autographs and take selfies, he is in the trenches with these kids and their teachers working with them. Someone who is willing to give his all to a disabled child will give more than his all for his fellow players on the field and we need more guys like that and we would be a super bowl team. You can't teach smarts and you can't teach dedication and he has both.
We really need to keep this guy.... He's a great guy, and a great leader.
Torrey was the same and Oz let him walk
usmccharles = dacosta
and we've seen that drafting the best player available has really helped us build a solid foundation of young players over the past five years- lol... something needs to change- plus we've brought on 10 safeties and 10 TEs to this team and none of them have been as good as Pollard, Reed, Heap, etc...Weird, we haven't drafted someone as good as Reed....who is easily considered one of the best S's of all time....damn our FO sucks. You act like we are the only one who misses on draft picks, its comical.
Eric D-- I also said Pollard. Everyone in the league knows our FO has failed the last five drafts- google it!

Why would we want Brandon Marshall when we have super stud Breshard Perriman? lol
