  1. Are you for real? After picking Elam and Brooks, we should not be drafting any more safeties- just bring Ed Reed back - he was better than all the busts picks/ FAs we had at this position... Heck bring back Bernard Pollard if Harbaugh doesn't feel threatened by him
  2. First of all, this man is a WR that the FO picked up as an undrafted player- whether he was drafted or not, we all know that none of the WRs, besides Torrey Smoth and we of course let him walk away, that Oz/ DaCosta draft never make it out to be productive- the same thing can be said with their TE and Safety picks over the years.. Let him walk- either way, he might be back because on our team he's a 2 or #3 receiver, but on other teams, he barely makes their practice squad as not a receiver but as a special teamer.. i know the truth hurts- this team just has more holes than swiss cheese- we don't smell the playoffs this year either
  3. 3 safeties in a row? No thanks. Besides, going in drafting for position is how you end up reaching and making a bad cut. usmccharles = dacosta and we've seen that drafting the best player available has really helped us build a solid foundation of young players over the past five years- lol... something needs to change- plus we've brought on 10 safeties and 10 TEs to this team and none of them have been as good as Pollard, Reed, Heap, etc...
  4. Ravens need a lot of help period. maybe let someone else run the draft this year besides oz and dacosta
  5. Sad to see Wagner go but like KO we have to let them go due to poor frafting and trying to play catch up with old FAs
  6. Easier said than done, Harbs..Dallas drafted very well to build that line- what we did was take Elam in the first round, as well as Perriman in the first round- that's not how you build the line that will win game in the trenches- enough said
  7. Are you ever going to suggest solutions, ideas, opinions outside of this team sucks at everything? I'm convinced you were on this board with a different screen name. I get you don't like the direction we are going, but you literally just sit here and complain about everything. Why not actually try to say something where we can develop a discussion, ya know... What message boards are for. usmccharles = Eric DaCosta The truth hurts, and Chuckx999 only is telling the truth- if he didn't care, he wouldn't be on this site like me telling the Ravens what went wrong. The Ravens can't live in the past anymore- lets' face it, we've had bad drafts, bad coaching (secondary and Juan Castillo), and hopefully, we'll learn from our mistakes and be better. Now that Flacco takes up so much salary cap space, it puts our FO to be that much better and smarter about drafts- so if we don't succed there, we won't make it- that's why the pats are so good every year- they know how to draft people that fit their system- we've had so many different systems, we dont know who we are- we used to be a defnesive team but now we think we're an offenseive team- we're neither. we had a top ranked defense last year because we had an easy schedule becasue the prior year we did terrible. the solution is give oz and dacosta and harbs one more year- if they can't succeed, then someone needs to get the ax Complacency is not good, and i commend Bisciotti for being patient but hes a smart businessman and wont let this go on forever either if we continuie to have poor results
  8. I can promise you filling the stadium is not an issue, we had 100% capacity last year. Every position cant be a play-maker, that's just not realistic. I can also promise you we have never signed someone based on the possibility of attendance increasing. A simple google search can reveal a lot of info, like... I don't know...facts. From 2008 on (I didn't go back further) we have been basically at a 100% attendance. http://www.espn.com/nfl/attendance/_/year/2008 We have no issues filling the seats. I am with you on the first paragraph, I have no issues bringing in older vets that know how to do their job and provide that veteran presence. Imagine if we could of got SSr about two years sooner. So yea, I am with you on most of that paragraph. The next paragraph, not so much. We have plenty of people that have no issue calling people out because they haven't done their job, I have seen Joe do it numerous times. But here's a news flash, Joe is not Tom Brady, he never will be. And this whole overpaid thing is just not accurate, like many have discussed on here, as do I, its called "market value." The only other option was to let Joe walk after he just had the best post-season of a QB in NFL history (tied with Montana), I don't know how you could justify that. Also didn't help we got rid of his favorite target in Boldin and expected Pitta to step up more, and got hurt. I am one of the people that think the FO has not done a sufficient job at give Joe weapons around him. The moment he would of hit FA he would of most likely got paid more by teams like Oakland, Cleveland, Jacksonville, etc...its simple economics. usmccharles = eric dacosta
  9. Except a productive player on social security is a short term fix. All that does is keep you competitive for the short term. You don't build SB champions with a team full of short term fixes. You have a blend of short term players with a primary core of young, productive players and players in their prime performing at a high level. Basically, the 2011-2012 Ravens. Its not like anybody thinks that Ray and Ed were the best players or the most productive players on those teams. The leadership thing is a bit overrated, especially on defense. You've got Suggs and Weddle, who are as big a leaders as you can find in this league. I agree that offensively we don't have an identity, but that's not from a lack of leadership. Fans only see what the cameras show them, which weakens the argument. I finally agree with you on most points but will have to disagree in the sense that we are void of 'passionate' leaders like Ray Lewis- granted that he's a once-in-a-blue-moon type of leader
  10. 1. Ben Watson won't be on this team in 2017. 2. Neither will Vernon Davis 3. Both for mostly the same reason. Thanks for making my point. I would rather take Verrnon Davis than any of the scrubs TEs we have now. Why do we even bother bringing in Watson on a one year rental contract? These moves by Ozzie drive fans crazy- play makers fill the stadium - not 37 yr old TEs - I know we're crippled by bad drafts but still.. It's like the safety position for us- we have drafted so many safeties over the years but Oz still can't find a good one through the draft- maybe the real problem is the FO
  11. Yea man, im sick of the old vets. Hopefully we get Davis, he's young and has plenty years left to improve his game. Great idea. Ben Watson is 36 years old now- Vernon Davis is almost 4 years younger and he had a decent year with the Skins last year- he didn't do that well before because he had terrible qbs throwing to him. Plus VD won't be 37 this year like Watson will be- Yes, I said Watson will be 37 years old this year- SMH
  12. Due to poor salary cap management, we can keep wishing- we will never get a receiver of Garcon's calibre- maybe Victor Cruz but not Garcon... Anyhow, why do we need him when we have stud-in-the-making Perriman- Not!
  13. The TEs we have on our team wouldn't be a #1 TE on other teams. Flacco and Pitta Bread need to stop their bromance- it cost the Ravens $3M last year when Flacco threw all these 5 yard dinks to his BFF, Pitta bread, so he could reach his incentive laden contract. Vernon Davis is better than all these TEs, and he is available and most likely can be had cheaper than pitta bread and old man fell off the rocker watson. Come on Oz- you need to stop with the 'hire the old veteran' approach- we need to get younger and better. So far, we're young at this position but not any better
  14. Webb should've been cut 5 years ago. He must have some dirt on someone for him to stay on this team this long. Only Oz and Harbs would let him stay this long. I think we need Doom on this team. Without him, Suggs is even more ineffective. Let's face it, we need to get younger, but we cant' get younger right away due to poor drafts and us not having a young foundation. Who knows. maybe it's also the coaching staff that can't develop players either. i think Bisciotti told Harbs he needed to make some coaching changes to save his career (e.g. adios Castillo). We still dont make the playoffs this year.
  15. All I'm going to say to Oz is trade up. The stands are empty at M&T because we don't have any passionate, play-making studs on this team. Just like Flacco, the whole team is boring to watch. Draft a stud, a play-maker, and make us excited again. Since Ray and Ed left, this team has lacked emotion and is void of play-makers. Who is our best play maker? Justin Tucker- yes, a kicker. How sad is that?
  16. You never know what Oz will do- remember, even though we need corners, lineman, etc... he'll always take the best player off the board... hopefully, he doesn't have another tight end or safety- we know how those picks worked out- yes, the same way as when he drafts WRs- the end result is not that good
  17. I am the farthest thing from a homer. I am practical, yet still very critical of coaching and the FO. I agree, FA has been a nightmare for us and retaining players. Our drafts have been lackluster, especially early, using hindsight is always great though, but at the time of these drafts most of these picks looked very promising or a handful did in fact turn out pretty good. Without sounding like a parrot, 16' looks to be a very good draft but I agree that KC and Bronson were not great fits. But you cannot refute that there were many gems in the draft. Stanley looks impressive, so does young. Dixon and Lewis flashed and they were just rookies. Judon did as well. This draft is critical and I expect Ozzie to knock it out of the park. We are drafting dead in the middle, unless he takes a raw corner or a unrefined WR in the first, I think he gets us a pro bowler. We had like 50 draft picks in '16- I'd hope we'd at least get a couple of hits.. We can't draft anymore because Bisciotti wants Oz to only draft boy scouts and team captains
  18. EISENBERG: GRABBING A FIRST-ROUND CORNERBACK IS THE BEST ROUTE FOR BALTIMORE, BUT ... Oz and DaCosta always gets amnesia about the cornerback position on draft day....
  19. You know when Ray Lewis said that after he left there was no leadership left on the Ravens- and then everyone got upset. Well, he was right. Ever since he left, we've been a bad team- having all these bad drafts haven't helped either. I think we have the largest scounting dept in the league- maybe it's time that we rely more on drafting services than rely upon our human expertise- something needs to change
  20. We're just in a really bad situation - we get rid of these players, then who is going to fill in their shoes? Due to poor drafts, we have no base/ foundation to build upon, and we will stink even more than we did last season. Now that we have to pay avg Joe flacco elite money, it's been harder on the FO to build / keep a good team. Oz and DaCosta have never had to tie up so much money to a QB before- now that we have to, it has exposed our weaknesses and has also exposed Oz and DaCosta as being avg talent evaluators because now they have to work harder to find good players in the drafts and FA market. We don't make the playoffs in 2017 either.
  21. Juice couldn't block even if he was driving behind a semi truck- have you not seen games where he continues to get man- handled like a my little pony doll Yeah it was pretty sweet when he fell down on the goal line for no reason instead of blocking when we went for it on 4th and 1 with west early in the year. It was a close game we lost, I think Washington. He's so overated it's ridiculous. Funny- I vividly remember that play- I was wondering what the hexk he was doing- reople think he's good because he made the pro bowl- he made the pro bowl because there are 3 full backs in the league, and he is overrated. I also think Sean Mosely is also overrated too- that's another story.
  22. Don't know where to vote this one up but would 100 times if I could. Excellent points. All of them. If Flacco was even a top 16 qb in this league ( with his 2nd highest average qb salary), things would be different. But he's not. He had one good regular season with a coach we didn't keep, and a great postseason..................FIVE years ago. The front office has gone from a strength to a weakness over the years. And that is the only chance of having a competitive NFL team every year. If your FO has it together. Ours clearly doesn't. And the coaching for the Ravens is exponentially worse. Maybe nobody will notice if the Harbuagh brothers switch places....... I can't argue with you either. Yeah, I'd also take Jim over John any day- he'd secure in himself, and he could handle strong personalities like Ed Reed and Bernard Pollard. Ever since Ray left, this team has been void of play makers, attitude, game passion, and strong leadership - one reason why Flacco wasn't a captain in college.
  23. Your are uncomfortable with Flacco being friends with guys on the offensive side of the ball ? I hope you are joking here. He isn't throwing dinks and dunks to Pitta because they are BFFs. He is throwing them because the WRs down the field are covered or at least he has the perception that they are covered. Do you want him to force it into coverage. If Crockett Gilmore or Maxx or whoever were out there instead of Pitta he would be throwing to them. Because of their close relationship they are more in sync with each other. You need to invert your statement. Instead of wanting Joe and Pitta to end their friendship, you should be hoping that he develops similar relationships with his other receivers on the team. Being angry because Pitta gained 720 yards last year is absurd. Cmon man. Because they are bffs, Pitta got his $3M bonus/ salary back, and a lot of it had to do with these 5-8 yard dinks to pitta bread. How many times do you remember when Flacco hit pitta bread with a 20 yard pass? Exactly...
  24. Juice couldn't block even if he was driving behind a semi truck- have you not seen games where he continues to get man- handled like a my little pony doll
  25. a blocking fb is essentially extinct in 2017, it doesnt work anymore, all it does is clutter up running lanes. the most functional type of running game is all about creating space, adding another player into the box is totally counterproductive. its one of the reasons barry sanders was so frustrated late in his career, the new coach insisted on using a lead blocking fullback which gave barry less room to run and it tipped the hat too easily and allowed defenses to stack boxes. vonta leach was a very small part of our rushing successes, we had yanda, birk, ben grubbs/KO, and michael oher when he was run blocking well, our line was ELITE in 4 out of 5 spots, and ray rice was a top 3 rb for years before leach came, and there was no noticeable increase when leach arrived. power blocking FBs are nice for when you really need a short gain, they can help create a little pocket past the line of scrimmage by plowing into it, but other than that there is just very little use for them. an H-back who can pass protect and act as a safety valve is just way more valuable, and even better juice actually can lead block pretty well when needed, you dont need to be vonta leach to be a great FB. Thanks for the history lesson.
