  1. Scary, considering he liked the other prior 4 safeties
  2. last five years have been terrible- that's why we don't have a good foundation now and are in the position we're in now- where we now have to spend a lot on FAs like Weddle. Speaking of which, I think Oz forgot about addressing the CB position- we seem to forget about this 'slightly' impt position every year...
  3. "Webb has a big salary and little history at safety, but Newsome likes his potential."
  4. Perriman who? I feel like we're getting older with the most recent FA pickups, esp with Watson, but it's better to have a proven safety/ wr than the scrubs we have now (outside of WIll Hill). I also can't understand the fascination with L Webb. He clearly has lost a step and is unproven at safety- I guess this will send the signal to Brooks and Elam-- bye, bye!!! It won't save us much with cap space, but at least we'll cut our losses and not try to hang on with dead-beat players who never make the field (ie Sergio Kindle and now Simon). I don't understand why we keep certain players who don't perform....Oz?
  5. This says it all, "Luke Jones ‎@BaltimoreLuke In the last two years, the #Ravens have signed a tight end to a $32M deal, drafted three more and now signed Ben Watson. A lot of resources."
  6. I agree- who cares about all the comp picks if we can't get the draft right- how many tight ends / safeties do we have to draft before we get it right? The same thing can be said about WRs too.
  7. I disagree- this team does need a lot- that's why we're trying to clear up a lot of cap space by restructuring contracts
  8. Besides Jimmy Smith, Oz usually picks up CBs in the 4th, 5th rds or picks up five undrafted free agent CBs each year to see which one pans out (usually none of them as you can tell how sorry our secondary has been over the past 3-4 years). We bring an army of CBs in every year but none pan out- you figure we should have a higher hit ratio, but it's on Oz or the coaching staff to coach better. Not sure who is at fault when it comes to this particular position. I'm very worried about this position because Jimmy Smith is just one fall away from another injury- he got paid big money for not even being a top tier receiver- kind of like Eugene Monroe situation in sense of overpaying.
  9. Due to us not addressing this issue for the past 3-4 years (even since we let Corey Graham leave), I don't think Oz knows what 'CB' stands for anymore.
  10. Pitta who? Perriman who?
  11. True- I would've at least tried to get Vernon Davis instead. We need some of his passion on this passionless team, and plus, he's a couple of years younger then Ben Watson. I know the team has made an emphasis on not taking any risky players anymore, but everyone does deserves a second chance- even Ray Rice (as long as he doesn't marry my daughter). So we should be willing to take some chances where it makes sense- this team needs to get younger sooner rather than later. Besides getting younger, this team needs passion. Who is our leader on this team? Exactly- you could say Flacco, but he can't carry a team on his own like Aaron Rogers or Tom Brady. On defense, is it Suggs? How are the younger guys going to look up to him when he'll be gone next year.
  12. High character doesn't always translate into SBs. So now Flacco has a 37 year old Steve Smith WR to throw to and a 35 year old TE now- SMH. If I were Oz, I'd be getting younger and not closer towards retirement age with the players I put on this team. What kills me is that we can't keep our own (e.g. Art Jones, Torrey Smith, Osmele, Haloti), and we can't make big signings during FA period because someone Oz or Pat Moriaty can't manage the cap effectively, esp over the past 5 years. Because our drafts have been bad for the past five years, we have to supplement the roster with veteran FAs (e.g. overpaying for Eugene Monroe) and then we end up with dead money. We should've been more careful with Pitta after his first injury before Oz gave Pitta a contract. I know we couldn't predict Ray Rice's upper left hook but still... How may safeties or tight ends to we need to draft or pick up every year before we get it right? When do we start placing more emphasis on skilled positions like WR and CBs, where we need to pay more to get more. I'm sick of all these band-aid solutions, and no offense, am I supposed to get excited about Ben Watson? Come on man... Also, I think Pac Man would be good for us - he's a changed man and often leads the NFL Rookie Symposium camps. Between him and Ray Rice, I'd take Pac Man any day. Let's start all over and take care of our cap so we can field a better team in the next 3 years. Unfortunately, there's no way we're making the playoffs next year- we have way too many holes on this team. The last five drafts have really handicapped us (Terrance Brooks, Matt Elam, John Simon, Arthur Brown, Gino Gradkowski, etc..--i really hope we can turn it around soon in the draft starting this year- I'm sure the FO feels a lot of pressure to start getting it right.
  13. I see Brady, Peyton, Rogers, and maybe Brees and maybe soon Cam Newton. An elite qb is goog in all games, not just the playoffs, Bryne. Flacco is definitely above avg for sure though.
  14. Pitta, Rice, and now Suggs- look at all this dead money/ bad contracts we have in place that it cripples us for years- other teams do a much better job at managing the cap / drafting/ picking up free agents.. how many more safeties do we have to draft/ pick up in FA before we get this right?
  15. Based on that video, if Suggs had to play tomorrow, it doesn't look like he'd be able to tackle Roethlisberger if Ben was lying down. I hope he comes back strong this season- we need him and Doom needs him as well.
  16. Something was funny here because he basically admits fleeing the scene in the TMZ video.
  17. Yup, the video is on TMZ- nothing like the Ray Rice video, but he wasn't just charged of driving with a suspended license- he was also charged for leaving the scene and destruction of property. Also, he apparently thought that they'd only take his car with a suspended license, but since he had all 3 charges, maybe that's why the police booked him. Ultimately, this isn't too severe of an incident, but what was he doing driving around that late at night/ early morning by himself. His explanation for the crash was that he was tired? 19. Congrats to Joe and Linta for taking it to the house with Ozzie and Pat Moriarty. While Joe isn't elite, he's definitely a winner and an above avg qb, he's getting elite money. Definition of an elite qb: A qb who can put the team on his shoulders and can will his team to win against the odds, esp when the rest of the team is playing poorly. To Joe's defense, we never drafted/ picked up FAs that were game changing WRs...
  20. The thing I don't understand is why do we keep unproductive, aging players like Webb but release productive players like Smith. We are terrible when it comes to dead money and cap management, resulting in us not being able to keep our own (e.g. Torrey, Arthur Brown, Haloti, etc..). We are giving too much money to people who might not deserve it (e.g. Eugene Monroe, Pitta, Webb, Dumervil, etc..). We need to get younger fast- smart teams build through the draft, which is something we did years ago, but the past 5 poor drafts haven't allowed us a good base, and that's why we have to get pay more for free agents- how many safeties has this team gone through via draft/ free agency in the past 5 years? Probably 8 or so... and Will Hill was the one person out of that 8 that is actually decent. I hope the FO gets it right this year with the draft- we can't afford no more Perriman scenarios again- Perriman who? Exactly...
  21. I agree. Purple Kook-Aid
  22. If I was the GM, I'd draft a lot better than Oz has in the past 5 years, and I would manage the cap a whole lot better too by not signing old players and players that have had prior injuries (e.g. Perriman). I'd do a lot better at drafting/ picking up free agent WRs and CBs by throwing darts at players names while being blindfolded. Just saying... It's not just the players where we've done a bad job, but we've also done a terrible job with cap management/ dead money. The Squeelers and Bungles have been better than us in most ways, coaching, drafting, cap management over the past couple of years. We don't make the playoffs until 2017/ 2018 because of the hole we're in. How can we get excited about two retirees coming back (Suggs/ SSS)? We need to get young asap.
  23. Unfortunately, Pitta needs to throw in the towel. We need to draft better than we have this year compared to the last five years. While Oz is shaky when he picks after 15, he's usually solid when we have a top 10 pick.
