  1. Here's to hoping we don't lose any draft picks to injury this summer.
  2. Perriman tied Chris Johnson for fastest 40 time EVER. He'd abuse a rookie Ike Taylor. Not a single rookie CB would look good running next to that man. I get the feeling that Walker is gonna be a really feisty player once he sees that he can cover the D-1 guys. He has the physical attributes needed to match up. Ozzie and the coaching staff must think that he either already has a high enough football IQ to make it through camp or is smart/eager enough to soak up the classroom.
  3. I could see him returning to Miami. He loved that school and the football program there more than anything in the world when he left. I just remember watching him talk to the 2011 Canes saying, "This is the greatest time of your life. I DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE HERE! All I talked about was trying to get two more years. I love this school, man, I love everything about it. It's different when you get to where I am now [the NFL]." Having the U on his lapel today made me think twice about the Ravens' ability to get him as a coach. I think we all know that Ed Reed is going to do what Ed Reed wants to do. He'd be such a boon for Miami's recruiters. He'll likely go wherever he feels like he's needed most and can contribute the most. He clearly likes working with young people a lot. Wouldn't be surprised if he moved back down south closer to home.
  4. He has all the tools needed to earn a pay day. The league just needs to take marijuana off of the illegal substance list. In no way does it enhance a player's performance, but I'm sure it helps some players through the off days when they're recovering from all the physical abuse they put themselves through in order to keep the sport popular.
  5. Looking at QB height and height of receivers currently on the roster (WRs and TEs), it would appear that the Ravens are the tallest in the league and may just be able to dip and dunk their way into the end zone this year. Can you imagine Flacco looking at Darren Waller and Crockett Gillmore in the endzone? 6'6" all the way around. One, two, three, JUMP! Touchdown
  6. Even if Pitta plays, it would be impossible to decide how to use him. He'd be the presumed #1 given his production pre-injury, but it would be hard to justify putting a guy out there who is that prone to serious injury when we have a perfectly healthy, capable TE that needs playing experience to develop at the professional level. We can't carry five TE's, so what young players with potential would we cut in order to keep Pitta? I'm getting the feeling from the front office that the writing is on the wall for Pitta and that nobody should be shocked if he retires in June. It's just too complicated of an issue using a roster spot on him. That spot could be used to hang onto a developmental corner. I'd be happy either way. The best case scenario would be that we're watching Pitta dance around the endzone this year and making diving catches. We owe him that opportunity. Ozzie must be hoping that either the team doctors or Dennis make the decision for him.
  7. Just once I'd like to see Joe have fantasy value. I know we all couldn't care less, but I swear the only reason why most people in America think Joe still sucks despite all of his statistical landmarks is because they see him ranked as like #18 in fantasy football and that's the only way people know if a player is "good" or not these days. If he can touch top seven this year, he'll finally get some respect and I won't have to exhaust myself arguing with fools about Joe not being an elite QB.
  8. Talking about concerns has a pretty deserving place in fan forums. We have a serious quality depth issue at an extremely important position that was the sole reason for the loss in Foxborough. Yes, it's something negative. It's also true.
  9. Problems at cornerback didn't "possibly" derail our Super Bowl bid. They derailed our Super Bowl bid. With one more healthy, capable corner, we would have won the Super Bowl. We blew two 14-point leads against the eventual SB champs because we couldn't contain Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman. Let those two names sink in for a few seconds. I understand drafting BPA is always a safe philosophy, but I don't think we struck as good of a balance with need this year as everyone thinks we did. We failed to address what we KNEW we needed as evidenced from the field last season and instead opted to address what we THOUGHT we needed as presumed on paper. We KNOW that our secondary doesn't have enough depth to win a Super Bowl. We don't KNOW that Kamar, Marlon and a mid-to-late round WR aren't good enough to replace Torrey. We just think that they aren't. We don't KNOW that Dennis Pitta won't come back and that Crocket Gillmore won't continue to get better (I thought he looked very good). We just think they might not. We don't KNOW that Timmy Jernigan and Brandon Williams can't hold down the middle of the defensive front without Haloti Ngata. We just think that they might not. We easily could have helped address the biggest certain question mark in one of the first three rounds. We didn't, and now there aren't any options left. We now have to HOPE that one of our current corners from last year just magically jumps up to the next level and plays out-of-their-mind better than they did last year. That's what we NEED. So of the current corners on our roster, WHO will that be? You've gotta think that Ozzie is counting on Asa Jackson, which means we're banking on players who ALL have a history with season-ending injuries. Knees and feet. We're taking a HUGE risk here. Sadly the truth still remains. Our secondary doesn't have enough depth to win a Super Bowl. If either Webb or Jimmy goes down, and let's not pretend that the odds aren't pretty high there (especially in Webb's case), then it may very well be all over for us again. Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman...
  10. I think it's still a pretty big FO concern. The problem is that the draft rarely ever offers teams a rookie solution to their secondary woes. Even if we were able to draft someone like Marcus Peters, it is so hard to make an impact playing that position at the professional level in your first year, regardless of what kind of a program you came out of. No college corner has ever had to be responsible for as many big, fast wideouts as they do in the league. Defensive secondary players are quite a lot like quarterbacks in that you either have them or you don't. It's so hard to acquire them in FA unless you have a ton of cap room to give them a multi-year deal (e.g. Revis & Jets) because players at that position who have smart agents should rarely go after one year contracts since their value will drop once they move in and out of different defensive schemes that may not be designed to maximize their production. We need to have our guns at the ready whenever any big bodied corner with experience playing against the opponents we'll be facing this season becomes available after not making any teams' 53-man roster. If we can't beat the best offenses in the league whenever Webb or Jimmy go down, then we have a serious depth issue. Right now, we need to do what we did halfway through last season and go find as many corners with potential as possible. We don't blow two 14-point leads in NE with a solid #3. We still don't have one. It's easily the biggest question mark on our roster right now, and there's no way the FO doesn't think this is the case.
  11. The complimentary grouping couldn't be better for Perriman. Joe's big arm plus Steve Smith's mentorship plus Marc Trestman's experience equals unlimited upside.
  12. Proud to call it America's game.
