He won't. He doesn't have to, and I really don't think he cares one bit about a legacy in Baltimore. He probably never dreamed of being a Super Bowl MVP, so in his mind he may have nothing else to prove to himself or the organization. As much as I want a corner, pass rusher, or o-lineman in round 1 of the 2017 draft, I would grin a pretty wide grin if we drafted a QB before round 3. Joe needs a push, and Mallett isn't it. Knowing that we always have Harbs in the war room on draft day (ugh), I can't see that happening though.

You pay for future performance, not past. A player who isn't all that great for his first couple seasons but then figures it out and comes on at a high production level, you KEEP those guys if you have no reason to believe it's a fluke (which isn't even a thing for offensive lineman). He played well even when Yanda moved to the left. Wagner's best days are ahead of him, as opposed to a guy that's been playing well for a while but is getting to an age or injury history that carries risk of drastic drop-off. Wagner is primed right now. Who cares about his first few seasons (which were still very decent other than the injured 2015). Terrell Owens wasn't good his first couple years in the league. Turned out to be quite a productive player.

Before we let some of our best players walk, we need to stack solid draft classes. Last year was great, but the three before that were so-so. It's very hard to let guys like B-Williams and Wagner go when we don't actually have any proven talent behind them. If we can nail this upcoming draft then next year I think we'll be in a much better position to let guys walk. I just don't know if it's wise for this season. We've gotta keep somebody to build around. We're gonna lose Doom, possibly Webb, and a few DBs. We've gotta figure out a way to maintain some continuity, or we aren't making it that far into the postseason if we can even get there. I'm starting to have doubts about our coaching staff's ability to produce quality starters out of mid-to-late round draft picks. Seems like we have plenty of guys that flash, but not many that are consistent. Wagner and Williams are models of consistency which is what you need in order to execute game plans and win games.

At this point, I have no idea where the problem is. Front office? Harbs? Coaching staff? Players? Grounds crew? Everybody? Nobody? Here's what I know. We aren't going to get where we're trying to go if we routinely take guys off our draft board due to character concerns just because we're in a post Ray Rice paranoia, or if we suspect that a player may at some point be disobedient to Harbaugh down the line. Nor do I think that Joe should have every offensive weapon known to man in order to be a half decent QB. I also don't think that it makes sense to surround yourself with a coaching staff that has routinely been blowing it in big moments solely because you have a relationship with them. For god sake, we were beat by the Jets who played two quarterbacks in the game. Get our defense pumping and get our running game going. Cut, draft, fire, hire... do whatever you need to in order to fix those two problems because right now it looks like our biggest problem is that overall our players just aren't that good.

What a difference a healthy offensive line makes. Joe didn't leave his feet the entire game, and aside from the one pick intended for Wallace, didn't even have to scramble outside the pocket (beyond the play calling). More important than winning this game and boosting our confidence is that we came out of it healthy. We can absolutely beat the Pats with our defense and a healthy line that protects Joe. If he can get the ball out as quick as he did against the Fins, good luck Pats. I'm sure they'll try to establish Blount and do what the Cowboys did to us. The only difference now is that our offense is converting and giving the defense the rest they need in order to not wear down. All three phases feed off each other. That's championship football.

Take your sweet time with Doom. Quite frankly, he isn't better than Judon at this point unless fully healthy, and even then I'm not so sure anymore. He never was able to be on the field for more than just passing downs. We may have already moved on from him.

You know what our problem is? We keep saying "we've got leaders everywhere - guys that lead each in their own way." That means that we DON'T HAVE a leader. Suggs does what he can, but he's old and cut from a different cloth than the rest of our soft defense so they don't really gravitate to his style of play. Jernigan is carefully kept within a box so as not to hurt the feelings of others, while a big ol' baby teddy bear who frightens nobody lines up in front. Steve Smith just leads himself but is too psycho to get anyone to jump aboard his wagon. Yanda just beats his man and then looks back at Joe on the ground because the rest of his line can't do their job (except for Ronnie - please get him back STAT). Joe is the man, but he isn't lighting a fire underneath anybody. Our problem? We swapped out brute toughness in exchange for a bunch of specialized sheep who will never assert their will and take over the direction of the team. The Ravens used to have SWAGGER. We don't have a winning identity anymore because our entire culture is now John Harbaugh - the great emotional equalizer. Who fears the Ravens more than us??? NOOO-BODY!!! (give me a break) Seriously guys.... In the words of the godfather Ray Lewis, "Get pissed off right now!!!"

To anyone who has been paying attention to Harbaugh's press conferences over the years, the translation is that these guys are probably out until week 10 at the earliest. Joe is going to get absolutely destroyed by the Jet's top-tier pass rush this weekend. If anyone is hoping that we'll pull out a win against the best team we've faced thus far after failing to beat the Redskins or Giants with more of our players available to us, you can just lay those hopes to rest for now. We'll be 3-4 coming out of the bye and will need a miracle to make the playoffs. Sorry to be negative, but that's just how our team has performed under these injury-riddled situations over the past two seasons. We don't have a game savior. Joe doesn't have an O-line and Anquan Boldin to pull wins out of his butt. He'll have pressure in his face all day. If he only turns it over twice, that would be a gift.

You know who we aren't going to cut when he gets back? Nick Boyle because he's an absolute beast. We're going to milk his rookie contract for all it's worth, and then see how he does on the open market which will probably be 'not that great' since he already has two strikes with the league office. The next failed test is a season/career ender.

The most important thing about having Suggs on the field is that he understands our divisional offenses better than anybody, including Pees. When you roll out young players into Heinz Field or Paul Brown Stadium, you need to have a supremely tough, confident and experienced guy on the field playing with you. He understands how to pressure Roethlisberger and Dalton and brings everyone up a couple notches just by being out there. That's what it takes to win divisional games. That, and Jimmy Smith hopefully shutting down AJ Green for once. Objective #1: WIN THE DIVISION.

So, it harbs fault that Dixon ran into another player and got hurt? Smh Not saying it's his fault or that the practices are too hard. If it shows up in December, it's all good. What I AM SAYING is that Harbaugh is awful at communicating injuries to reporters and he sets unreasonably lofty expectations which don't benefit the player at all since they then have to be the ones who "let down the fans" so to speak by not developing a rapport with the team and making a contribution (see Perriman 2015). I don't know why he has to downplay injuries. Like you said, they aren't his fault.

I don't believe a single thing Harbs says about injuries anymore. He clearly doesn't respect the medical profession or just isn't interested in the reality of injury recovery time. I'd rather just hear directly from the training staff at this point. It's at the point where we have to get the facts from Adam Schefter, who reported that it's a grade 1 MCL sprain which is a 1 to 3 week recovery. So no Harbs, it won't be "maybe even tomorrow, we'll see". Just acknowledge that you expose the team to injury. Yea, we're well conditioned. That's very important. But in the process we're also not able to develop a lot of players or have them on game day because of PRACTICE. Just own it coach.

Due diligence. I'm glad we're sending him down to Florida. Sounds like we've learned our lesson. If he's as healthy as he claims to be, then we may be paying a bit more than the veteran minimum.

Oh yea baby. I never liked the idea of just handing the starting job to Ronnie. If Jake is over his two ACL injuries from his Rams days, then we've got a pro bowler on a low risk (depending on how much we're giving him) one year deal. Unlike Ronnie, he was the unanimous highest ranked tackle in his draft class and likely isn't coming to Baltimore to back up a rookie by default if he is in fact healthy which he very well may be. The Falcons have the talent and depth at left tackle (really the only position on the 0-line where they're set) so they could afford to pass off his re-injury risk to another team. Ozzie shows his stellar patience once again. Competition everywhere. Now we have options to get Ronnie on the field if he isn't ready for LT. He can play left guard or go to right tackle to compete with Rick Wagner. Harbs must love the competition and flexibility. Now get one more inside linebacker and let's go. Camp time baby!!!!!!

When you've had his kind of success in the AFC North climate, that's an embedded premium that you've got to pay for. He's one of the best in the league. This contract shows that the front office believes he can be THE best in the league. Like any big contract, let's just hope he lives up to it.

I don't think Harbs is going to go easy on him. On one hand, yes we do just want to get him into action for a real game because - come on already. On the other hand, you can't not practice like you play and expect to be anything more than a WR4. If he can't ever get to the point of getting through practices like the rest of the team, then he doesn't deserve to start. Plain and simple.
