  1. "Multi-Dimensional" approach to the TE's. Sounds good but first things first. Let's keep them healthy and avoid other self inflicted "complications" to get them out of the starting gate.
  2. Garcon anyone? And no, not a French waiter. The other Garcon.
  3. They can provide all the help in the world for Flacco but if the Ravens can't get to the opposing QB's then it's all for naught. A good example was the Steelers game when the O had a brilliant drive but the D couldn't hold the response down, giving Big Ben, which seemed like, all day to throw.
  4. How 'bout a legit D lineman who can actually put pressure on the QB?
  5. Agreed! The D backfield is only as good as the pass rush. Just because the current crop is not producing doesn't mean you don't keep trying to land one. They just have to do a better job of drafting and lately it's been abysmal.
  6. The Patriots don't have a great pass rush but they have very good DBs' The Cardinals have an above avg pass rush and have great DBs The Broncos have great DBs and a great pass rush The Bills have very good DBs and an avg pass rush. The Jets have a great pass rush and horrible DB play The Sqeelers have a great pass rush and horrible DB play. While I think that a good pass rush compliments good DBs... I don't think it makes up for a lack of quality DBs. Look at our record over the past two years without Jimmy Smith. It is horrible. Now realisitically... Jimmy gets hurt every year... so we need an insurance policy. Tavon was a steal but he needs help and Sharece Wright is not the answer. Plus we drafted Bronson Kafusi last season and he should be like an additional draft pick next year who will help our interior pass rush. But make no mistake about it.... WE NEED A CB and a S I like the thought of Gibrill Peppers in Purple Did you not see the time Big Ben had in that last drive to seal the deal for the Steelers? What about the last half of the season when the Ravens were either at the bottom on near so in pressuring the QB? One can have all pros at every position in the D backfield but if the QB has enough time he'll pick apart any D. That, Sir, is a fact acknowledged by all and even ones with only a rudimentary knowledge of the game.
  7. While I would have loved to have had Jalen Ramsey opposite Jimmy Smith I am not ready to call Kafusi a bust. He got injured and may still turn out to be a great pick. While I hear what you are saying... We don't want to start drafting the Randy Gregorys, Shawn Oakmans and Josh Gordons just bc they are talented. We are trying to win the right way.... the teams that do it the other way may find temporary success but they typically run into problems with these guys and in the salary cap era you cannot afford to have these issues too often. With that said -you cannot afford to miss on your top picks either... Elam, Arthur Brown, Upshaw (probably), Kameli Correa.... this is a trend that has to stop and I think it did with CJ and Ronnie Stanley being two of our last three top picks. It is easy to second guess everything in hindsight. I know who I was hoping we would take in round 1 over the last 5 years... some are having a lot of success... some not so much. Realisticaly... every GM is going to have some hit and miss.... What Ozzie and company has missed on in the draft recently they hit homeruns on in the FA market. (Weddle, Mike Wallace, SSS, Elvis, Daryl Smith, and more). Gotta take the good with the bad. All the ones they hit "HR's" on are in their 30's and on the way out. One does not sustain a team long term with that type of signings but it's done by drafting wisely with a view to the future. The Cowboys are a good example of that philosophy.
  8. PASS RUSHER!!! A legit D lineman. Your DB's are only as good as your pass rush.
  9. A very good, good bye to a good friend. No matter one's station in life, how high, educated, strong willed or wealthy one becomes, it's times like this that cuts to the core of the soul and breaks the defenses down that are built up over a lifetime.
  10. A legit D lineman pass rusher(not a hybrid) should be first and second priority! Your DB's are only as good as your pass rush! That last drive by the Steelers should have told it all(not to mention the last half of the season)
  11. Already posted condolences on previous article but watched the Final Drive video on David Modell and have to say once again...thank you David and your Dad. This from an old Johnny U, Moore, Berry, Ameche, Marchetti etc Colt fan who gave me and charm city another chance to show our love for Baltimore football. The winds of time will never blow away the memories of that and the gratitude of the city. RIP.
  12. Here's wishing and hoping all turns out well again for Kristen Berset and Brent Harris. A savage disease that strikes across all economic and social lines and knows no boundaries. Our thoughts and prayers goes out to the newly married couple.
  13. Not in key positions, One must remember they wouldn't have made it to the SB without that fluke pass to Blodin. They also got some players from that squad still playing and are 4 years older. Added to that is the draft busts of recent years and it's adding up to a long playoff drought w looking none too promising for the future.
  14. Very sad news. Sincerest condolences to the Modell family and their legion of friends.Without him and his Dad Baltimore would be without a pro football team and be worse off for it. A class act who will be sorely missed. His charitable work tells it all. May he rest in eternal peace.
  15. Exactly. The opponents, more times than mot, would put 8 in the box and dare the R's to pass. No team can run with that many in the box and that forced them to pass more than they wanted. Until the WR's get younger, faster and run smarter routes it won't change. Then throw the the deep ball and the run will come around.
  16. Where's the sarcasm font? :)
  17. Correct!! It seems obvious throughout the year except on draft day. They passed up Spence, for starters.
  18. Same old, same old. Sigh. What's that definition of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?
  19. Fortunately Joe or Dennis don't make that decision. It seems to be evident there needs to be some changes from the FO on down. The only one who should be secure is Harbs with the clear understanding that the Asst's are to be chosen on the ability to to get the job done and not on likability or how comfortable the HC may feel with them.
  20. Tell that to dean pees No excuses for the D imploding as they did in the Steelers game and the last half of the season. The R's must make changes and that starts with the ones making the drafting decisions all the way down. The only exception should be Harbs because he can only work with what's given him. And, for the most part, they've been busts for the rounds in which drafted.
