  1. I think most of us kinda intuitively knew this, but Steve Smith confirmed it. There are WRs that are your prototypical 6'3" plus, north of 200lbs. Some of those guys pan out. But in football, you still need to have the "it" factor. Different people refer to it in different ways. Some call it simply "being a football player." Others say baller or beast. Some use the term "playing with reckless abandon." We call it 'Playing like a Raven.'

Whatever you call it, Golden Tate seems to have it. He plays angry. And when you're 5'10", you better play angry.

  2. "It's a bit of a mystery why the running game stumbled to start the season, but it seemed to find its footing."

Seriously? Here are some names to help lift the cloud of mystery: Demarcus Ware, Von Miller, Domata Peko, Carlos Dunlap, Geno Atkins, AJ Hawk, Vontaze Burfict, Khalil Mack, Justin Tuck, Aldon Smith etc.

The Steelers defense played well here and there but besides Timmons their cadre of young Linebackers lapsed in lane discipline and left cutback options wide open on way too many plays.

Our line and RBs did a great job, no doubt. But the tape doesn't lie. We've played some really tough defenses so far. I suspect with time the run game will get better, but that doesn't change the fact that while it was trying to get its footing we weren't matched against ideal competition that affords you time to hit your groove.

  3. I'm thinking we may go after Wes welker- only bc we wouldn't have to give anything up and could get him for the vet minimum. He also brings more veteran experience which we are lacking at the position , and he kind of fits the mold of campanaro. Although givins is supposedly his replacement so idk. I'd much rather have someone else and I'm def not a fan of his, but it would be better than nothin. If it was up to me my top options would be Vincent Jackson, Alshon Jeffrey, Anquan boldin, Ricardo lockette, or even Reggie Wayne. Of course its pretty evident none of this will happen, but it's fun to imagine.

After what his wife said about Ray Lewis when we beat them during the championship run? That'd be tres awkward, no?

But other than personality and history, it does make sense.

We've got two phenomena we can't forget about.

    (1) The 1-3 and 0-4 teams in the league whose GMs have thrown in the towel and are already trying to stock for next year.

    (2) snatching players off of other teams practice squads when they leave a WR exposed. Think John Simon and the Texans.

  4. Won't really know what we got with Givens until we actually see him on the field. Yeah, he ran a 4.25 40... 4 years ago. So far his story reads like he got a healthy dose of targets and jumped out in year 1, got a decent dose of targets year 2. Lost Sam Bradford and had knee issues himself last year.

Even with his speed, he was used as a kick returner only, with Austin Pettis returning punts. And then when Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey got to town, he wasn't doing either.

This is either a really brilliant move. Or we got hoodwinked by Jeff Fischer.

I guess the insurance is that it's a conditional pick based on his snaps?

Seeing the complete mis-use of Torrey's talents in SF makes me wonder whether guys with the right speed just need a QB with a cannon like Joe in order to be meaningful in an offensive scheme?

  5. Surely, you jest... how can you possibly compare? Just picture this... Sizzle on the sidelines, on crutches... and somebody gets pushed out of bounds, and into Suggs... who do you think they will fire? You?

    #getreal

Yeah but you could say that about any player with literally any injury who chooses to be there for the team.

If you're gonna be terrified about all the random 'what ifs' in life then maybe you're one of the few Ravens fans left that actually support Dean Pees' lapses in playcalling where he curls up in a ball and tells everyone to play 10 yards off.

  6. Didn't know anywhere else to mention this, but seeing Ben on the sidelines coaching up and cheering his guys on after having his knee shredded a week ago made me think, where the heck is Suggs?

When Ray tore his triceps he was still on the sidelines for the team. I distinctly remember him getting amped in San Diego after the "hey diddle diddle ray rice up the middle" 4th and 29 game and Tucker's game winner.

  7. See this is how I envision Campanaro's reality. He's an atheltic normal guy with bones like normal guys, only he's missing that survival gene that tells us not to run full speed into a brick wall just for fun. That's his equivalent of the NFL. He's fearless and will do any crazy thing you ask him, and be more than willing to break every bone in his body as a consequence. If he runs, he has to run until ever ligament tears. If he dives, it has to be head first into a MLB. He's the consumate "go hard, or go home" guy.

  8. Our fans really need to read more about our team and stop asking nonsensical questions.Ashon would need a new contract next year and the Ravens could still lose him with draft picks.

Yeah but Chris Givens is also in the last year of his rookie deal so losing picks for guys that are gone next year in and of itself isn't the problem. I don't think Ozzie would ever ship more than a 5th round pick in this scenario.

  9. Has anyone seen anythi g from the Bears where they've said they're even interested in dealing Forte of Alshon? I haven't. What I saw was reporter speculation after the Bears dealt some mediocre veterans near the end of their careers after a loss.

There's zero evidence that the Bears are open to trading their top playmaker who is still on his rookie contract.

In fact I think all this talk about Alshon is bologne.

  10. Oh and all this Jazz about an ugly win handed to us on a platter... this game woulda been over in regulation with no 100 yard rushing and a td for Bell had the refs not been blind to a blatant holding/block in the back/face mask call which happened right in front of the ball carrier on that rushing TD where Bell reversed field.

Kendrick Lewis had the play sniffed out, was in position to make the tackle, and their FB/TE piggybacked on him and tackled him from behind right in front of Laveon Bell.

Ravens cans can't be blind to that huge no call when Phil Simms repeatedly pointed it out and Rich Eisen again mentioned it at half time when Michael Irvin and Marshall Faulk were praising Bell for making a play.

  11. HI EVERYONE, I've joined this thread to tell you something that the ravens or the website avoid telling the media:

"Osgood-Schlatter disease, a common yet uncomfortable knee inflammation among adolescents. The pain level varies from patient to patient and those afflicted by the condition are sometimes genetically predisposed, as in the case of Breshad Perriman."

Fact, look it up. There you go, that is why he isn't playing despite the fact it was a "tweak".

Yeah we've known that. Problem is a 23 year old professional athlete isn't an adolescent.

  12. You could probably tell by re-watching the tape and meticulously monitoring for separation, but the full story on targets/receptions is that:

SSS has been targeted 40 times and caught 25.

    Crocket 13 and caught 10.

    Aiken 11/6,

    Brown 11/6,

    Maxx 11/5,

    Campy 4/3,

    Boyle 2/2 and

    Waller 2/0.

    For RBs it's:

14 targets of Forsett to 12 receptions,

    LT 4/4,

    Buck 2/2, and

    juice 8/7.

That's 40 targets of SSS compared to 54 for the rest of the WRs combined. On the one hand you could say they aren't getting separation. But on the other hand you could say they aren't being targeted, so we can't tell whether they're getting separation.

Also, why is Juice never mentioned with the TEs? He's clearly a reliable target.
