Here are some names to help lift the cloud of mystery: Demarcus Ware, Von Miller, Domata Peko, Carlos Dunlap, Geno Atkins, AJ Hawk, Vontaze Burfict, Khalil Mack, Justin Tuck, Aldon Smith etc. The Steelers defense played well here and there but besides Timmons their cadre of young Linebackers lapsed in lane discipline and left cutback options wide open on way too many plays. Our line and RBs did a great job, no doubt. But the tape doesn't lie. We've played some really tough defenses so far. I suspect with time the run game will get better, but that doesn't change the fact that while it was trying to get its footing we weren't matched against ideal competition that affords you time to hit your groove.

Won't really know what we got with Givens until we actually see him on the field. Yeah, he ran a 4.25 40... 4 years ago. So far his story reads like he got a healthy dose of targets and jumped out in year 1, got a decent dose of targets year 2. Lost Sam Bradford and had knee issues himself last year. Even with his speed, he was used as a kick returner only, with Austin Pettis returning punts. And then when Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey got to town, he wasn't doing either. This is either a really brilliant move. Or we got hoodwinked by Jeff Fischer. I guess the insurance is that it's a conditional pick based on his snaps? Seeing the complete mis-use of Torrey's talents in SF makes me wonder whether guys with the right speed just need a QB with a cannon like Joe in order to be meaningful in an offensive scheme?

Givens clocked a 4.25 according to the draft profile website. He was a KR and deep threat in St. Louis and had a solid 1st tear but two things went against him. 1: according to Fischer their scheme changed. 2. They drafted Tavon Austin whose skills are redundant but he's a little quicker.

See this is how I envision Campanaro's reality. He's an atheltic normal guy with bones like normal guys, only he's missing that survival gene that tells us not to run full speed into a brick wall just for fun. That's his equivalent of the NFL. He's fearless and will do any crazy thing you ask him, and be more than willing to break every bone in his body as a consequence. If he runs, he has to run until ever ligament tears. If he dives, it has to be head first into a MLB. He's the consumate "go hard, or go home" guy.

Also, if we're holding out hope that we can make some big free agent WR signing with that chunk of cash that frees up against the cash next year, just google nfl free agents 2016 and sort by WRs on Spotrac. It's slim pickings.

Yeah but Chris Givens is also in the last year of his rookie deal so losing picks for guys that are gone next year in and of itself isn't the problem. I don't think Ozzie would ever ship more than a 5th round pick in this scenario.

Has anyone seen anythi g from the Bears where they've said they're even interested in dealing Forte of Alshon? I haven't. What I saw was reporter speculation after the Bears dealt some mediocre veterans near the end of their careers after a loss. There's zero evidence that the Bears are open to trading their top playmaker who is still on his rookie contract. In fact I think all this talk about Alshon is bologne.

Oh and all this Jazz about an ugly win handed to us on a platter... this game woulda been over in regulation with no 100 yard rushing and a td for Bell had the refs not been blind to a blatant holding/block in the back/face mask call which happened right in front of the ball carrier on that rushing TD where Bell reversed field. Kendrick Lewis had the play sniffed out, was in position to make the tackle, and their FB/TE piggybacked on him and tackled him from behind right in front of Laveon Bell. Ravens cans can't be blind to that huge no call when Phil Simms repeatedly pointed it out and Rich Eisen again mentioned it at half time when Michael Irvin and Marshall Faulk were praising Bell for making a play.

So what if they took our streak of not allowing a 100 rusher? We took Antonio Browns 39 game streak of at least 5 receptions and 50 yds. We had pride in ours, they had pride in theirs. Move on and start again.

You could probably tell by re-watching the tape and meticulously monitoring for separation, but the full story on targets/receptions is that: SSS has been targeted 40 times and caught 25. Crocket 13 and caught 10. Aiken 11/6, Brown 11/6, Maxx 11/5, Campy 4/3, Boyle 2/2 and Waller 2/0. For RBs it's: 14 targets of Forsett to 12 receptions, LT 4/4, Buck 2/2, and juice 8/7. That's 40 targets of SSS compared to 54 for the rest of the WRs combined. On the one hand you could say they aren't getting separation. But on the other hand you could say they aren't being targeted, so we can't tell whether they're getting separation. Also, why is Juice never mentioned with the TEs? He's clearly a reliable target.

We need to figure out what the deal is with these really slow starts on offense. 38 total yards in the first half at Denver. 0 points in the first half at home versus Cincy. The difference I note is one of fear. Because Oakland lost several starters in the secondary we felt more comfortable opening it up early. With the others it seems like we get bogged down in our commitment to stay balanced early. But 'balance' thus far has meant 'incredibly predictable.' If we pass of first and don't connect, you can guarantee it'll be a run on 2nd. If we run on 1st, the line isn't getting push and we'll gain a couple of yards only to run again on 2nd so we don't get stuck in the dreaded 3rd and long. Imagine a day where as Ravens fans we can watch a game and not be terrified of failure on offense, and instead be excited in anticipation of success.
