Sizzle had a momentary lapse of leadership in the first drive there. Ok great, the refs screwed up the hit on Bradford and gave them an extra 15 yards. That's on them. But a guy like Sizz needs to have enough composure not to come back the next play and vent his frustration by blatantly clotheslining a receiver on his route, handing away even more yardage. That's not cool.

For what its worth, Torrey only had 4 catches in his rookie preseason. In fact it wasn't until week 3 that he caught a regular season pass, and he caught 5 that week - 3 for TDs, all on deep routes. Moral of the story? How much training camp and film study do you need to run a route that can conceptually be understood by a 3 year old? "Just go deep." Ideally he'd be healthy, but also ideally I'd be a trillionaire. Look to the positives, if he sits out all preseason as a precaution, Denver won't have a clue about how fast he truly is and how to cover him.

I'd much rather see this kid sit out preseason and come back a 1 trick pony on effective 9 routes due to a lack of training camp, then see him rushed back for meaningless games only to be on crutches for the bulk of the season. Be smart people.

There's just a level of confidence in the 2015 version that's refreshing. In the secondary, especially the safeties, you just feel safer with Kendrick Lewis and Will Hill patrolling back there rather than younger guys with serious coverage skill issues. Add Webby and Jimmy back healthy and you've got easily a top 10 secondary. You get a stout front 7 with all our LBs back and suddenly the defense is one people want to avoid playing. On the other side, in spite of losing Torrey and OD, it somehow still feels like we got better. I mean we're a pretty formidable offense as it is, and then you remind people that one of the top 3 fastest guys in the league, Perriman, hasn't even suited up yet. Once you introduce that kid to this scheme, suddenly those 4-5-6 yard gains that the o-line wills turn into 15-20-25 yard tromps. Might as well call this offense "pick your poison" once Perriman is up and running.

I like that people are starting to savvy up as to why we made this move. It's an underappreciated point but this guy is probably the league's best technician when it comes to the play action pass. Whereas with guys like Tyrod you almost have to have a second package of plays specific to his skill sets, with Schaub you have a very experienced QB in the West Coast zone blocking scheme. So the farthest reaches of your depth chart on offense are not only comfertable with their role in the scheme, they can excel if called upon. Our backup quarterback position is no longer an insurance policy for its own sake, it ensures that every position across the offense is well insured because even the second and third team guys are being led by someone that's got a doctorate in Kubiak's offense.

Houston is not a healthy environment or organization the way the McNairs have built and organized it. It's still very ameteurish in its outlook and approach in a lot of things. Thats's not excusing that Schaub definitely struggled in 2013, but the Texans are the kinda place that instead of lifting a player up when he struggles they absolutely destroy his hopes under a barrage of attitude.

I got NFL Rewind which in the preseason is known as game pass. They live broadcast preseason games on the internet. I think its running 70 bucks right now. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

As bad as the second and third team front seven looked in the heart of the game, they seemed to get stronger with more snaps under their belt. Zedarius needs coaching or something. Either he was tired or just needs technique cuz it seemed like he just wanted to play pattycake with the lineman rather than shed blocks at times. There's a lot of promise with our young guys. Perriman didnt even play and our first offense looked strong. Getting him back to stretch the field and take a safety out of the box will only make our backs look better. Maxx had some huge chunk plays. Carl Davis consistently pushed lineman back into the backfield and disrupted lanes. Boyle looked the part of an all around TE aftet being pegged as simply a blocking TE. Buck Allen looked good in pass protection even though he had a concentration drop. Waller can totally be coached to be a mismatch nightmare. And Tray Walker, inspite of missing time, showed that he's a toughnose tackler along with being a size CB. Its these guys' first live action and the fact that even within the small sample of their very first game the general trend was that they got stronger and more comfertable is very very promising.

Honestly I liked the run-to-pass Kubiak scheme better. You forecast run plays when you run out of the pistol and shot gun. That's a major reason why our run game sucked in 2013. Some of those Tightend screens and pummelings our line and 3 TE sets doled out last year out of our heavy and jumbo sets were so much more beautiful to watch than Joe in the spread with 5 WRs. We need to be leading the race to get the run game restored to its rightful place in professional football.

The flip side is that I can see why it'd be a slap in the face for a player, especially those the caliber of Thomas and Bryant to find out they're simply being tagged to buy another year for the franchise to find their replacements for cheaper rates via the draft or free agency. We don't know what's truly going on behind the scenes, but it's not unthinkable that Elway and Jerry Jones have no real intention of keeping these guys around long term and just need their services for a year while they fill their spot.

just to echo what the second poster said below, if you watch the 2012 Houston Texans their offense was a thing of beauty. that's what the West Coast offense is. the quarterbacks footwork lines up perfectly with the timing and brakes on a wide receivers routes. the exchange or semblance of an exchange between a quarterback and running back line up perfectly with the block and release patterns of receivers and tightends. that's what Schaub brings - there should be no drop off between a first second or third string guy in terms of knowledge or technique.

These re-signing questions don't sound as dire when you factor in all the dead money that comes off the books after this season. Worst case with Tucker is a franchise tag. He ain't goin nowhere anytime soon.
