  1. Renner is not facing high quality corner backs or a defense scheming against him. He's playing third string players vs third string players. With 75% of those players will not make any NFL team. I like his confidence though and would like him as a PS QB. Schaub on the other hand is having the backup guys going against other back ups and some starters. It's usually rough on the second string QB because he doesn't get the seasoned WR's or line help. I think Schaub has been okay with what he's had to work with. We'll see more from him the third PS game.

  2. With Perriman out for an undisclosed amount of time, I'm really surprised they aren't using Waller as a deep threat.  Maybe they will in this next game after mostly short and intermediate passes against Philly.

One thing I've wanted during the entire Flacco era was more than one deep threat at WR.  You get a big armed QB and initially don't give him a deep threat receiver (outside of Stallworth who mainly did end arounds) and then you only give him one with inconsistent hands and ball tracking ability who didn't always run at full speed until it was too late.

That's the main reason I'm pulling for Waller.  I envision him and Perriman lining up on the outside in the future and safeties not knowing who's side to slide to.  Plus Waller has looked much better than expected so I feel he deserves more opportunities.  He's the only WR not named Smith that has not only looked good in camp and games but has also stayed healthy

I don't think we want to show too much. I don't think we'll open it up that much. Just work some basic runs and give our Wr's 1 on 1 opportunities. I definitely think we'll use Waller and Perriman as the deep threats. Waller is also going to be a very good red zone option as well.

  3. The Suggs hit was absolutely a proper hit!!! If you are gonna run the option, your QB runs the risk of getting hit like that.

The penalty was one of the most ridiculous penalties I have seen yet.

They love to go after Suggs.

After that,it was a penalty free for all against us.

I completely agree after that call it seemed every flag was on us. Then you look at the replay and go wow they really called that. We couldn't even get back in the game or build any momentum. It was like every third down stop was a penalty and automatic first down. We have a big run holding or formation penalty. The last two times we've played Philly there we had the replacement ref's and then these new ref's trying to get in the NFL.

  4. I need to see better in game stats before I join the hype train. I hope for someone to seriously step up. If I had to look at three WR's that will play a lot depending on health. I look at SSS, Perriman, and Camp. With Aiken at 4th and Waller the 5th. Butler has to do a lot or have Camp or Perriman get hurt in order to make the team or this WR group. I think Brown is the odd man out in that he's banged up and may have been a one hit wonder with his first year ala Clarence Moore.

  5. The Eagles are one of the oldest NFL teams and they have a lot of culture with a deep history , who cares about superbowls in terms of fandom??

I get that but you can have team pride without the sense of arrogance. I can tolerate more bravado if your team has won before or have been dominant over a long period of time. I don't mean you can't be a proud fan of any team just don't be obnoxious especially if your team hasn't or doesn't win.

  6. His release is crazy though, did you see how he just bullied his way past some of those CB's? Unless you have a big Jimmy sized corner on him, I can see Waller doing to small DB's the same Funches or Benjamin do now to DB's. May also force coverage on to his side, allowing Max and Perrimen to do their thing...

I would so love teams forcing coverage over to Waller's side allowing Perriman to have 1 on 1 coverage. Flacco would drool at such a sight.

  7. I'm looking forward to this game. Philly has a quick paced unique offense that will test and challenge our unit. I don't believe their defense is as good as it looked versus the Colts last week. We'll see though. I need us to look good as one of my really good friends is a die hard Eagles fan and talks the most trash. even though it doesn't mean anything but bragging rights amongst each other I still want the win. I don't understand why Eagles fans are so boastful and arrogant when they haven't won a championship since the NFL started having teams wear facemasks.

  8. Good - entire first team offense, Carl Davis, Maxx, Boyle, A Brown, Z. Smith, and Campanaro

Bad - Butler (gave Schaub an interception that shouldn't have happened had he done his job), MLB's as a whole in coverage, and second team o-line)

Ugly- Pass coverage in general on second and third team units. (have to know down and distance), and pass rush

Came away impressed with Arthur Brown he showed his speed and explosiveness. He should get more playing time. Carl Davis is a beast in training. Z. Smith will take some time but I see a little McPhee in him. Our first team o-line looked great. Campanaro looked really good. Waller looked better than a prospect. I think he needs some work but gives this team a tall deep threat with hands. Buck Allen I think can be a great back but he had no opportunities with how bad the second and third team o-line looked. When we get Urshel back it should look a lot better. Robert Myers should help that second unit as well.

I really like our depth though as a whole.

  9. yeah man,  2 years of producing nowhere near what the volume of snaps would suggest lol.

    i sense the sarcasm btw.

i would prefer we just take a flyer on a guy like butler, waller, or maybe even carter as a possible dynamic return threat, brown is a known commodity and its not that impressive, we know we arent getting mI auch more than the occasional catch in a spread set with brown. i see much more potential in aiken based on a way more well rounded skillset, according to reports this year and last, butler just seems to look like everything we WANT marlon brown to be, and i like wallers potential much more because he can do everything marlon can do, PLUS he can actually use that reach and height in contested situations. unpopular opinion here but i think marlon will be the odd man out this time next year as everybody else bypasses him.

I agree with everything you said. I also think A. Brown will also be an odd man out if he doesn't stand out this preseason.

  10. Then why don't they have him?

Specifically, the Raiders and Cowboys (who I don't think even remotely need him) have zero problem taking on players with "questionable off-field incidents" and will largely take on any veteran at any time for any reason.

And yet, they still haven't taken him. The Cowboys have literally no excuse... so whats the problem? In my opinion, the problem is... they don't think he's better than what they have.

Also consider that, specifically, teams like Tennessee and Oakland certainly aren't planning on competing for a SB this season, and aren't really better off in any scenario playing Rice over even a 4th round RB they just drafted.

I think most of the other teams think like you do. I remember the one preseason game he played with us last year. He had his old burst back and was playing at a lighter weight. I think the last year with us was an anomaly but in this NFL it's a what have you done for me lately. Since his last year was so bad and he's a PR nightmare. That's is why he's not on any other teams. It would take a top running back to get injured on a team that's in a win now mode for Ray to get a try. If someone took a shot on him in the preseason and he lit it up. he'd have no problem making a team. However for a team to take a shot now would have to be certain he could be the player of old. He has too much baggage to take a chance on him and have him be a shot player.

  11. Yeah, I guess. But I was thinking that Schaub was a better fit for the type of offense that we run with Joe.

In that case I would agree but If I honestly had to choose between the two I'd go with Tyrod because he wouldn't give automatic points to the other team. Although he wouldn't score much with us either. We'd be in bad shape if we had to rely on either for an extended period of time.
