  1. 3/14: "Letroy Guion considering Ravens, Patriots, Packers. Has visited Pats. Will visit Pack Sunday unless has deal w/another team." - Chris Tomasson, St. Paul Pioneer Press http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letroy_Guion
  2. I really hope the Ravens focus on offense in this years draft and I already don't like how we still need a FS. If I would have to give anybody most of the blame for that 8-8 season, it probably would be Ozzie. We spend too many draft picks on defense last year. Our first 4 were all defensive players, 3 of them barely seen the field and only one of them was made a starter, after Huff forced the team to by stinking it up. We already invested so much into the defense in FA and the offense paid for it via the Boldin trade, I just couldn't believe we didn't go for a WR in that draft (clearly we lacked the depth at that position we thought we had). I know, I've been writting this all over the forum and the Ravens have shown no interest in the guy, but Chris Clemons would be a great signing for us. Any draft pick that doesn't help the offense this season is pretty much a wasted pick, imho. In short, I don't think Flacco has that many weapons still.
  3. I really hope we don't. I don't want a rookie FS to play next to a first year starter at SS. Chris Clemons brings in experience and we already know he's a solid player. The first 3 rounds of this years draft should be all about offense. Making the OL better and getting more depth in our WR corps (Torrey will be a FA next season and who knows how long Steve Smith can play for us).
  4. Sure, but I don't get what you're complaining about. We heard the news that Joe wants to have a private workout with his receivers about a week ago. Did you expect Flacco to run drills already? Kubiak still was working on the new playbook, clearly it wouldn't make any sense for the Ravens receivers to prepare for routes, that they won't have to run under the new system. I don't even get where that "Flacco has no work-ethic"-myth comes from. Joe spend extra time with his brand new receivers last season for example and those are not the first instances of Flacco putting in extra work that I can recall. The reason why the Mannings and Bradys of this world look so good and Joe Flacco looked so awful last season is the OL. The Raven offensive line was horrible. Not saying that Joe was on fire last season, but he was the 4th most sacked QB and he had the worst running game in the league. The Pats and Broncos might be "throw first teams" (not really considering the way NE played the playoffs), but they still have A running game (what did we have? 1 yard with every rushing attempt). Getting Monroe was a good begining, but we still have an 8-8 OL standing in front of Joe, you know; the one, that crippled him by the end of the season. If the Ravens can't get anyone solid in FA, they HAVE TO invest HEAVILY in the OL in the draft...and no Cyrus Kouandjio.
  5. I hope Flacco never will be Manning. I want him to win SBs.
  6. Aaron WilsonVerifizierter Account ‏@RavensInsider Steve Smith total 2014 money: $9.5 million $5 million owed by Panthers; no offset language $4.5 million Ravens: $3.5M bonus, $1M base salary
  7. Good and now we only need to draft a big physical WR/TE (maybe both) for the endzone.
  8. Only Clinton-Dix would fit the description of a tall (relatively) free safety. Both Ward and Pryor are shorter than Clemons actually (Dix is about as tall as Clemons). Ugh, I do think that Clinton-Dix looks like a solid player (nothing special though), but I really don't want yet another underperforming Bama guy. That stupid Alabama connection is Ozzie's one big weakness.
  9. A rookie safety, next to a safety with one season of experience. I don't like that at all.
  10. Sure. That's why called him "more dependable".
  11. We couldn't convert 3rd downs or score TDs. Maybe, Steve Smith can give Flacco a weapon on third downs, but he is no red zone target. I don't see how resigning Jacoby and getting Steve Smith solves anything in the passing game. We basically got a more dependable Stokley. I'm afraid Ozzie needs to get over himself in the draft. Also, seriously Chris Clemons is still on the market. That's a solid FS. Why are we still not talking to him? Good point. I can understand why the FO is salivating over Mack, though. What great addition that would be.
  12. We won't, though. Atleast I'll be very surprised. Ozzie already voiced his opinion about how risky WR draft picks are and this team will always be more concerned about getting the defense and running game right rather than improving the passing offense. Signing an over the hill Vet and counting on late round picks and UDFAs for WRs is right up our alley.
  13. I'm not complaining about a potential Steve Smith signing, but I do share your worries. Then again, it's not the Ravens MO to draft a WR early anyway. FS and LB seem to be needs and the Ravens aren't pursuing the FS position in FA already. I see Oz setting himself up for Clinton-Dix or Pryor. Maybe Mosley, if Daryl Smith doesn't sign. I kind of write my posts knowing that, in all likelihood, we won't draft a WR until the 3rd round, maybe.
  14. And that's why getting Steve Smith doesn't mean WR isn't a huge need in the draft, that might actually warrant a 1st round draft pick (in spite of what some might believe).
  15. Steve Smith is coming off an awful season also. He wasn't that much better than Marlon and Jacoby to be honest.
  16. I don't think Ozzie is reading this forum, dude. Atleast I hope not.
  17. Why not? He's a fantastic KR and this team has always counted on very good ST players. If Marqise Lee falls to us, we need to pick him up imho, because he has the potential to be a true #1 WR: 1. Lee 2. Torrey 3. Steve 4. Marlon 5. Jacoby If we end up drafting a Mike Evans, who is still a bit raw, the addition of Smith would give us the time to develop him as a player and ease him into a increasingly bigger role on offense, which would be another way this signing could help us. In the end we can't just sit on our hands and hope things go our way like last season. Torrey is not consistent enough to be Flacco's go to target and Marlon, while showing promise, still only had a 500 yrds season. Jacoby is great in making big plays, but lacks the hands to be counted on every down and we haven't seen anything from Mellette yet. There is alot of uncertainty with our WRs with or without Steve Smith on it. Barely any good red zone targets, close to no 3rd down targets, those are all results of the Ravens FO not making big moves to improve our WR roster, because they "like the guys we have".
  18. Steve Smith really doesn't solve our WR woes. Our WR core is extremely weak and Smith is coming off a 700 yrds season. He makes us better and might help our younger WRs, but if we don't draft a WR in the first 2 round with all the great talent that is available in this draft at that position, then we're making a huge mistake.
  19. Yes and no interest from us.
  20. I think he ment the Dolphins free safety. The Jets seem to be interested in him.
  21. Too bad. In a WR class as stacked as this years, we'll miss out on a lot of difference makers. Lets get more Alabama guys I guess.
  22. Darn. Elam is better suited for SS and I don't feel comfortable with two young safeties being on the field at the same time. That can lead to costly mistakes.
  23. So Chris Clemons is the best safety available. Anyone heard any news of Oz trying to sign him?
  24. I'm sad to see Graham go. He was a solid player for us. But, I am also glad that he's getting paid and gets the chance somewhere else, where he might get a bigger role on defense.
  25. How can a SB winning QB not win the MVP after he played lights out? I stand by it. Your comment was silly. Jacoby is a great kick returner though and I'm glad he's back.
