  1. Wasted talent. Don't give the excuse of saying you want to spend time with those you love, be there for yourself, take time away, etc. Just say what you really mean. I'm a lazy kid who was given golden opportunities but didn't want to work for them. That's all it is.

  2. Jason La Canfora is reporting Kyle could still join the Ravens

Aaron Wilson just said he won't. I enjoy soap operas for a reason, and this is turning into one. ;)

And he also said Wade Harman is gone. I won't be able to see him occasionally on his bicyle anymore riding around Reisterstown.

  3. Kyle was WR coach for Kubiak so he could replace Jm Hostler there!

Unless Hostler has another option, I think he stays. I don't think they'll fire him. He's got a family. I can't see him just deciding to quit or something unless he has another opportunity elsewhere. I don't see him being fired though. I suppose we'll all find out together in a few minutes!

  4. I just hope that Shanahan comes along with them... I have a feeling he could be an excellent coach for a team now that he's not working with his Dad anymore.

Ian Rapoport said it's doubtful Shanahan joins. Adam Schefter said Dennison is QB coach.

  5. Agreed, but this also works the other way too. People who are getting uber excited about this move should temper expectations until we see how the offense works out in real time action.

Exactly. This will either be the best move in a few years, or it will be one of the worst. No one knows at this point, but it's nice to see an outside candidate get the job.

  6. This does not bode well. Personally I've been screaming for some exotic and ballsy playcalling. Different version of Cam coming up. Conservative playcalling all day long. Absolutely hate this move.

No offense, but nobody knows right now how this move will turn out. So until the games start happening, why be so negative about it? The ink's barely dry on his contract. Let's see how it develops before we start running him under the bus already.

  7. Really think this will be a breath of fresh air for the offense.  We couldn't afford an in-house hire at OC at this point.  A splash like this was needed.

Getting a veteran staff with successful experience.

Exactly. And now they have to win. You can't get an all-star cast and fall on your face. I like how it looks on paper. Now I'm ready for the season to start. :)

  8. Wasn't Shanahan Kubiak's OC in Houston for a couple of years? His addition to the staff makes perfect sense to me, and should Kubiak get a look at HC next year, Shanahan can be the heir-apparent, no?

Perhaps, but if Kubiak gets a head coaching job, who's to say he wouldn't want Shanahan on his staff?

  9. I bet if Kubiak/Dennison/Shanahan doesn't work out, he'll be accused of being John Harbaugh's buddy, too, a few years down the road.

Same thing with the 'doghouse' crap.

Again, I don't believe any of it.

If these guys don't work out, I don't know if Harbaugh will be around much after that anyways. Preston aside, everyone heard Bisciotti say that he will only be so patient. We don't make the playoffs next year, serious things will probably happen.

With all that said, I don't know why people think (not you, just in general) that having input from an owner or GM is such a bad thing. Who knows what happened behind closed doors. It could have been a complete Harbaugh decision. It could have been a decision made when Newsome put a little more stress on it. No one will ever know besides the parties involved. But I hope Harbaugh didn't make the decision all on his own. I hope he asked for input, because there is nothing wrong with that.

  10. Gary Kubiak is our New OC!

Still some details to work out but everything is set for Gary Kubiak to become the next offensive coordinatior of the Ravens.

What remains to be seen is what will offensive staff look like around him. Where does Rick Dennison fit in? Do Hostler, Juan Castillo stay?

I like how he said that something changed over the weekend. I don't think it was Bisciotti. I think it was Newsome, maybe DeCosta, putting a little more stress on the issue. I have no way of knowing that, by the way. I just think it was the GM/Asst. GM perhaps creating a 'this is what we're going to do, hope you agree' sort of thing.

Or, Kubiak might have been the person all along. Who knows.

  11. Are people just more excited about Kubiak because he has more experience than Shanahan (because they run virtually the same system) or is it the possible influx of talented coaches Kubiak will bring with him that truly has people giddy?

Kubiak's been in 6 Super Bowls. I would like to see him make that 7. ;) I don't know. I just think that the potential is there for some really good ideas to swirl around, along with a completely different way of looking at the offense now. The big names are great, but even big names can fail, so I'm not really amazed at who he's bringing on right now. I'm just excited about the potential.

  12. Looks like we're not the only ones skeptical of Harbs's involvement.

Well pulling a quote from that article, I wonder if this was said to Preston in his off-the-record time after the end of season press conference. I don't remember Bisciotti saying this in the conference?

“I’ll be more apt to get my way next year if their solutions don’t change the problems. That’s fair, that’s where I am as owner,” he said. “They know they’ve failed, they know they need to change, and to make improvements. If it’s not the way I think it should be and then it fails again, then obviously it comes down to owner-head coach relationship.”

That's an interesting look at things, and I'm assuming that Bisciotti means what he says. I know some don't like Preston, but I do believe that this was said to him. He could get into trouble posting false quotes if this wasn't.

  13. I would think it's always a wise decision, if they can stay on their own side of the line, to have a former HC just completely take over a unit. Stick with the analogy here for a minute. It's sort of like having a maid service. You can kick back your heels and allow them to do what they need to do to get the job done. ;)

  14. Interesting, I said it awhile ago when he posted it, but could this be a good thing for Vonta Leach? He sent out a message on Twitter a couple weeks ago that said he wanted Kubiak on the Ravens. Do you think we start to use him again now if Kubiak does indeed join the team?

  15. "@MikePrestonSun: Kubiak trying to put together offensive staff before he takes Ravens job. Members of old staff are in trouble."

This coming after Castillo was openly promoted to OL coach? Is Kubes a Harbs move or a Stevie B move?

There's no way this is solely a Harbaugh move, unless he's completely changed his philosophy of staff hiring. I think it's a little of 'let's work together, but I'm going to get this done with or without your complete support' kind of thing.
