there goes that "fans" language again, whatever that means.

speaking for myself and myself only, my issue is not that Kruger took the money, it's the comment about being "misused." That's like saying if I can convince a company to make me their CEO and pay me the market rate for the position, it's their fault that I wasn't qualified and they should've given me mid-level management duties because obviously that's where I'm most effective...while continuing to pay me CEO money.

The company paid me for my potential, I didn't live up to it, so they fired me. I got my bonus check, they cut their losses. Nobody was "misused."

I don't know what's unclear about my use of fans. People who are watching the games. And in this case certain fans are those who make a comment dogging a player for taking life changing money.

The missused comment from Kruger just seems like sour grapes to me and serves no purpose.

He did choose Miami though, which had the same issues, and they offered the most money. But as far as Kruger goes, he just isn't gonna turn down that money. Yeah Kruger failed to become a 3 down defender, but It's up to the browns to make the evaluation and decide if he can make that leap, they overestimated and then overpaid, he tried, it didn't work, and he wasn't as effective as he once was because they're trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

I understand both sides of the argument, but I'm not gonna hold it against Kruger as a pass rusher because a team overpaid him.

I always kind of laugh when certain fans get on a player for accepting life changing money they have worked their a off for their whole life. You take it and don't look back. Players are very unlikely to get a second shot at that kind of money.

I selected him 49th overall - first selection in the 4th round. His ADP is in the mid-70s at the moment, but that is in formats that don't involve return yards. Even so, it could still be said that I overdrafted him.  The thing I hate about being on the far end of the draft is that 22 players will be taken before your next pick. So there may be a player you like that would probably stay on the board for another dozen selections, but you have to pull the trigger now if you want them.

My next selection was going to be 72, which would match right up with his ADP, but I assumed that someone else would have taken into account his return bonus in this league that he'd have been gone, so I just went for it.

That's an interesting wrinkle. Another guy I would target is Ted Ginn.

Actually, it wouldn't have been a trade ... it would have just been a swap of draft positions. As I said in my previous quote, I stayed where I was and took OBJ.

On another fantasy note, I followed up on your comments about the breakout potential of Tyler Lockett. I then noted he returns both kicks and punts and my league awards 1 pt/20 yards on returns ... so he's hugely valuable there. Add to that his ability to make big plays in the receiving game and he has a real chance of being an impact player. The concerns will be around consistency in scoring. They had him playing behind Kearse in the preseason, but I can't help but think the are going to incorporate him more and more as a receiver as the season goes on.

I probably overdrafted him, but in a league with such heavy value on return yards, I'm hoping he will be a regular flex play for me.

Oh with that return bonus he's gold!  What round did you get him?  He's been climbing up too high for me in mfl10 drafts. But there's no return bonus there. He's getting a lot of run from guys like Matt Harmon and others.

Someone in my league took Denver in the 5th...no joke.

Would it surprise you to know that statistically in 1 QB fantasy leagues QB and D hold similar value?  So it's just as crazy to take Rodgers in the fifth. Hard to make your brain think that way since they are so important to real football.

Browner is garbage now.  He's been terrible ever since leaving Seattle.  I have 0 interest in him and I suspect his career might actually be over.  He's the exact opposite of the type of guy Harbaugh would want here with his 4859 penalties per game.

Bingo!  Not a fit in the least. I'd be surprised if he gets a job he has not played well.

Well it depends on the level of free agent QBs.  I would have to assume in a 10 team league with short benches that there are many bye week replacement QBs available.  Even if every team drafted 2 QBs there should be some serviceable QBs.

Allen doesn't get me very excited.  Is Cook available (though you would be betting on Green Bay's offense)?

Bingo. Don't carry 2 QBs. Disagree on Allen. I'd go ahead and pick him up.

Yea i took the upside on Watkins.  Funchness from what I read looks awesome ans if Benjamin draws the number one cb just gives him an advatage.  It's wierd,  I never ever draft rookies but this year for some reason my board fell this way.

Well the panthers have a low volume offense. Benjamin and Ginn are starting Olsen is the number one target. Plus you have philly brown. There's no way this low volume pass offense can support all of them. Unless you are going to say Finchess outplays Benjamin which would take several weeks best case scenario.

I agree with this statement. People want to keep 7 WR's because it's a flashy position and typically one of the most recognized throughout preseason games.

Many people may not want to hear it but we are dangerously thin at multiple positions on D. Obviously it's easy to cherry pick and play the what ifs on if someone goes down with injuries, but if Suggs play begins to fall off (will happen at any point now, especially coming off of a major injury) and Dumervil can't generate pressure on his own (like we all witnessed last year) then we have a real problem at OLB.

Smith just seems very slow off of the ball to be a pass rusher. Many of his sacks come from the QB holding the ball too long and his relentless motor getting there.

Judon, well he has looked good rushing the passer. But I think we all saw what he will become in the NFL this past preseason game. He is pretty good pass rushing specialist but will he be able to defend the run and have the endurance to play a full game? Right now he looks to get winded very easily. Which is typical for a guy coming out of a small school and not playing against good competition.

As far as Correa goes, I'm not even sure the Ravens know where they want to play him in the future so I'm not even going to comment on him. He could fill in as a pass rush specialist also. But no way could he handle a full workload.

I agree with everything you said. I was just thinking easy cut is someone like Butler who will never see the field as a wr7.

do you guys really trust judon and ZDS that much? our pass rushing OLBs are: suggs, doom, ZDS, judon. 2 guys coming off of injuries over age 30, a 2nd year 4th rounder, and a first year small school 4th rounder, the former 2 are injury concerns, the latter 2 are inconsistent, unproven, and so far have shown to get gassed easily.

id take kruger in a heartbeat as long as he accepts a pass rusher contract and not a 3-down+pass rush contract.

another guy recently cut... quinton coples, is he done? hes been a big disappointment so far thats for sure, could be a cheap pickup on his last shot, dudes always had potential.

You are right on. Kruger would be a Fantastic fit for this team right now. A three down defender?  It's August 30. We missed our chance at a guy like Sheard. Proven rusher behind Suggs and Doom. I mean it's kind of a dream scenario.

    Standard,  with flex.

That's not bad for standard. Your wr are too thin imo. I'm kind of sold on Evans. But Watkins is a big injury risk. Funchess has a low ceiling and likely won't be a factor early on. Then two rookies. I'm fine taking a shot on one but two is very risky.

10 team league,  2 keepers.  I had Mccoy,  gronk,  aj green,  but I really wanted elliot for the future and I have a hunch about Lacy this year. I had the 3rd overall pick with the snake starting in the 4th.

    QB: Rivers (9th)

    Winston (10th)

    RB: Zeke Elliot (1st)

    Eddie Lacy (2nd)

    Demarco Murray (5th)

    Ryan Matthew's (6th)

    Chris Ivory (7th)

Deangelo Williams (11th) this was hard

    WR: Mike Evans (3rd)

    Sammy Watkins (4th)

    Sterling Shepherd (8th)

    Devin Funchess (13th)

    Corey Coleman (14th)

    TE: Antonio Gates (12th)

    K: Vinatieri (15th)

    Defense: jags (16th)

I really wanted to get DeAndre Washington from Oakland but my rbs are too good imo to justify dropping one of them. It was hard to draft Williams,  but I can play him the first three weeks while I see how Ivory ans Murray are. I also want martellus Bennet just incase gronk gets hurt but I can't justify dropping any of my guys.    Overall I'm thrilled with my draft.

    What ya think?

Is this ppr with a flex?

After seeing Joe and Wallace in that third preseason game, I took a flier on him late.

I've grabbed Wallace in my last few mfl10s. He could really pay off in some games. Also I was able to place with Wallace in a dfs tournament... Yes I started doing preseason!

My deal with Watson is he's 35 and those numbers were an aberration compared to the rest of his career. Yes, his numbers were great but how many times has this team and Ozzie been lauded for letting guys walk who were system players? I think that's really where my issue is, after talking about it with you and the other guy.  That was his best year ever at 35. You pay guys for what you think they'll do going forward and not what they've done.

As for the compensatory picks, I'd always take free picks. Not sure what you're thinking but I suppose we see things very differently here. Just because recent draft picks haven't panned out doesn't mean draft picks, and getting compensatory picks, don't matter as much. I doubt you're saying that but it sorta sounds like it.

I see your point and I agree we needed veteran competition. I will drop this, though, to avoid taking this topic further away from its intent.

I have to agree this one has been a very uncharacteristic move for this team. Not the end of the world either way. But I'm not entirely pleased with our free agent additions and subtractions since McPhee.
