  1. Looking at my roster, offensive line was a weakness in my opinion as I only had Brandon Albert and Brian De La Puente, while lots of people had full OLs or close to full.

Almost all of the good tackle had gone off of the board and I still had Gilbert rated pretty highly. He is going to be the Steelers starting LT this season but he will play RT for me. He is just 25 years old and is becoming a very good tackle. Last season, he didn't give up a sack.

This is one of the steelers I didn't want to name by name yesterday in that discussion. Far and away better pick than mike Adams. As you mentioned capable of playing lt, even better plaing rt for you. Well done. You have one of my favorite teams so far.

  2. Even worst is when there is a guy you want, but think he can make it back to you for your next pick and he gets taken just before you go again.

I've lost count on how many times that has happen lol

BTW I like the Zuttah pick, I was considering him as my Center, but the lack of game time at Center made me nervous.

I had Zuttah as the top ranked center available... looks like you were going to take another one of my guys, at least he is long gone before my turn this time.  BTW, I would definitely put him at center considering the best available now is probably a rookie or unproven player, and Guard is extrememly deep still.

  3. DJ Hayden is a faith pick. Mike Adams completes my RT search.

I was going back and forth b/w hayden and taylor but I had to make the smarter medical pick. To be honest if it got back to me I would have taken haden and rolled w two rookie corners.

Imo adams is not the best steelers tackle available.

D smith, quite early for him imo. His health and age are big questions

Tuck has had two down yrs in a row. Tough to imagine him getting back to 10 form.

  4. Oh whatever. Rich get richer. I'm going to get you back. When I took my calculated risk by passing on Rhodes to get Rhodes I figured Kerry had less of a chance to make it to me. I targeted you as one of the ones who would take him.

I still think you made the right decision. The rhodes you got will make a greater impact and corner is deeper than safety right now

I love the sherman/rhodes combo for dubs team though.

  5. I think it is very hard to admit when these icons just aren't what they once were.  Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu, have been the gold standard in the NFL at the safety position for the last decade plus and no one else is even close.  It has been a joy to watch these 2 athletic freaks do battle all these years, but the fact is neither is close to what they once were.  Personally I am building my team with a strong favor towards youth because I want this team to compete every single year for a decade, unfortunately Ed and Troy are not the best choice for that at this point of their careers.  Just because these guys are going in to the hall of fame doesn't make them the best choices for right now.

  6. ryan clark is older but there have been a lot of safety's picked before him that are no where near as good...and in worse shape

also I know you guys disagree but troy is still a great safety.....he had two injury prone seasons...but when he is on the field he is great...he was rated a top 100 player and I got him in the 200's...so yea they fell do to age but also because you guys don't like them.

which ones are you surprised with......troy and clark I talked about above.......Heyward is a young star.....Big Ben was the best QB when I picked......Jones is one of my personal favorites and you know how I feel about that pick...so who was a surprise

edit...I forgot Timmons......but he is one of the best MLB's in the game so enough said

Timmons is a no brainer yes.

Ben yes one of the top 10 QBs in the league.

Heyward I really like - Just surprised you took him this early with others on the board, will not name names now.  I had targeted Heyward but not as early as you grabbed him.

Jones yes I understand falling in love with certain rookies, everyone knows I love Hopkins which is why he is on my team.. so I get that.  Again there is a more proven Steeler on the board in my opinion that I would have taken (not the same position)

  7. Im happy with Clark as my free safety...he is older but he still plays the position very well....also I have troy so they are great together

im trying not to take steelers but they are falling farther then they would on any other board ....so at this point clark is great value

I'm less surprised with how many Steelers you are taking compared to WHICH Steelers you are taking.  The Clark pick in my estimation was a solid one.  Others a bit questionable.  there have been several Steelers I have looked at and came very close to taking one in the last round, they just haven't fallen to me in the round I want them.

  8. Roach... I don't know about this pick.  I realize the ILB position is extremely thin currently.  Roach has been pretty much a part time player for the Bears and hasn't really excelled in any area.  I also don't think the Bears would have let him go if they thought he could do more with losing urlacher.  However he can play multiple positions and won't get embarrassed so you certainly could have done worse.

  9. Culliver is a good pick. He's talented, but I can't stand him. He also go burned in the SB.

he is pretty much an idiot, and being stupid always seems to catch up with you, no matter how much talent you have.(ie.. Chad Johnson and many others)... Also I am trying to stay away from anyone I wouldn't want to root for in this game.

  10. With Fleener and Housler, I can run many two TE sets, which is what I love.

Last year Housler had 40 catches and 400 yards despite no QB. He is ready for a breakout year now he has a QB. Plus, like Fleener he is very young, in just his 3rd season.

EJ Manuel has to be happy having these two guys as safety blankets.

Very nice plan for your team, I like the direction, makes a lot of sense, sucks you had to take my guy though lol.  There are several more high profile tight ends still available which is why I figured he was safe.

  11. C was already taken and Rhodes is a good pick at this point definitely on the decline

I agree with miamis sentiment. Not sure how he is on the decline. Not sure why he hasn't signed anywhere. Yes he is 30 but he is playing at a high level. He was Pffs #4 overall safety last yr. that's a pretty high level I would say. Have to think his cut was due to saving the cards 6 mil on the year. I haven't heard of any medical issue keeping him unsigned

    Total steal for arnie.

  12. I was rather interested In Kyle Long..just a specimen and all sounds good in Chicago so far I am looking forward to see how he does in that division who have some really good interior DL

Long is a good prospect, I think it might be a bit much to line him up at left tackle right off the bat. I think I would put oher on that side to be honest, as unpopular as that might be around here.

Actually he would probably be best as a guard. Which this team also needs.

  13. Probably a good time to take brown. Ilb is extremely thin right now and putting him next to dansby is a good combo.

Bushrod is a nice tackle. Probably the best available right now.

Floyd I have never been a huge fan of. He's a pretty one dimensional. Now that could be due to thd very limiting system run in San Diego, but at this point he is 31. Hard to imagine him excelling any further at this point. Kind of a donte stallworth type player.
