I thought about taking an offensive piece here, but I decided to make my elite defense even better. Barry Cofield is one of the most underrated NT in the league and gives me a very stout front 4 that can stuff the run and rush the passer very effectively.
This was a great pick btw. I agree your d is one of the best in this game for sure. Wonder though, would you switch brokers and cofields positions to better take advantage of their talents?
Huh? You mean Oher over Monroe? If so no way.
No no. Not monroe, webb/martin.
I have to admit while I'm not the biggest Martin fan I do think he's better at LT and he has a chance to surprise people I believe. He had talent and meant liked him as a LT. I remember many were very high on him. It's too early to tell if he's got it or not. IIRC Eugene Monroe struggled a bit early on.
Then again so did Oher lol
I would consider oher over one of those two for sure.
they were both playing positions not as suited to them. martin on the right and webb on the left im playing them opposite.....also webb had a few early terrible games but improved as the year went on. and he is better than max starks who always seems to be bens tackle so bens used to mediocre tackle play...but I never said they were my strength they are not...but they are good enough to allow my offense to operate properly
I don't think I agree Webb is better than Starks. Also I believe there is still a tackle on the board better than Martin and Webb IMO. At least he was there for a great while. I can't search to see right now. Mack and foster are solid but the tackles are definitely worrisome.
Tony romo the long snapper, I saw what you did there lol.
No problem
I think that's the best too
I just go bpa, instead of worrying about who fits where
My current front 7 (43)
Adrian Clayborn-Soliai-Starks-Derrick Morgan
Jerrell Freeman-Pat Angerer-Dannell Ellerbe
Which scheme do you think would fit best w/ that roster? I for one think the 4-3
I agree with that assessment. I am interested to see if freeman especially is a one yr wonder of an all pro in the making. Or something in between. I was thinking of him myself. Did you see the colts gave him like 20 extra tackles in their website so they could list him as breaking a colts tackle record?
Anyway I feel that front 4 especially is a nice combination of pass rush and run stopping ability. I don't know if I like angerer enough to be your middle linebacker, but you could do worse.
I had this issue throughout this whole game and still do to an extent. I had a plan going in but I have flipped and flopped back several times especially on offense. At this point I am still not sure with my defense..I could easily go 34 and my next pick may make better value that way, but not sure. I have drafted a ton of flexible scheme guys so I did not feel stuck into an idea. But it seems like most people have more solidified plans now and sometimes it is better at the end here so that you can fill holes with guys who fit..At the end I think I will do a small defensive and offensive philosophy above each of my rosters to make sense of it all
I think your current personel is best suited for the 34. There is an ideal linebacker out there right now I feel you should grab this round to make that defense much more stable.
You're talking to Ravens<3 right? just making sure lol
Yes lol I was quoting the lineup you put up for him. Sorry.
Well said
Scheme over personnel never works
Hali-Jones-Dockett-Irvin
would have been better imo
I think this is your best lineup for a front 4. Draft a good will lb and a better nt to rotate in. You would have to use 2 more picks in the front 7 to make this work. I don't think you have nearly enough personel to make a 34 front effective.
Should've said he prefers to play the interior. The defense I planned on running is similar to the ravens. Hyrbrid 3-4, and a lot of nickel. Only problem for me is that I don't have a NB.
Here is the quote from docket along with the scheme style Arizona will run this yr. sucks for Campbell who fits better in their current d, but he will be a beast in any scheme. I always thought docket was a curious pick. Didn't fit the way your first few defensive picks with Hali and jones were going. Not sure there is an easy fix with the players you have currently.
I really like the bowers pick if he can stay injury free he will be considered a steal at this point.
I actually like the Gonzalez pick for your offense. He can be a real security blanket for Bradford.
Surprised no one is mentioning corvus just picked up the biggest steal of this entire draft in mclendon. I was debating taking him a loong time ago. He has played very well at nt in place of hampton. He ay not be quite the same powerful block eater as hampton but he can actuallyget some pass rush. The steelers are thinking of putting him at de situationaly as well. Steal.
4th of july is nezt week. Also folks should leave picks with othrers if they will not be around. Everyone has been quite accomodating with this.
he was my back-up option to Banks, the discipline dropped him there - draws too many penalties, but man isn't he physical? lol...
I actually think banks shows a bit of the same tendencies, with the good and bad, so hopefully he will clean that stuff up as well
Hankerson if I recall correctly had a three or four game stretch where he played like he was all world and has done nothing remarkable since.
The keller pick is the best! That hit was shown by the nfl as the perfect tackle.
Two of my favorites available came off the board today...
Sly williams is probably my favorite d tackle from this yrs draft(close with datone but they d different things well). He was a guy I had mocked for the ravens as a matter of fact. Really dynamic player.
Bradley fletcher is a really nice underrated corner. He has really good man to man coverage skills. The biggest thing this kid needs is discipline. Fisher benched and eventually let him go in free agency because of his excessive penalties and lack of discipline. It would be ideal to pair him with at least one savvy veteran corner.
24. BallHawker - to be skipped at 11:07 ET
25. easternshore97 - next on the clock
26. SecretAgentMan - picks with three of us, including me
27. CalvinSmoke - picks with at least two of us, including me
28. Ravens<3 - been around lately
29. Dubs - picks with at least two of us, including me
30. Challenge Accepted - been around lately
31. codizzle - aliens brought him back
32. Yatagarasu - gone missing, on the clock in the nba draft game
Nice so if ballhawker comes up or noon comes up we can see the whole round and then some complete when I check in this evening
I sent a message to eastern shore he will be on the clock noon eastern. I haven't had too much time to message folks who are uocoming in the last day. Maybe someone else could take that up for a few days.
Dunbarr is a fantastic pick. He's not flashy but extrtemely solid at coverage and run stopping. Really nice player.
Anyone want my picks? I may be in and out over the weekend...it is Canada Day weekend up North so things get kinda wild
What is canada day?
Continuing to build my OL, I grabbed my best G available here in Uche. He is 29 years old and doesn't turn 30 until next March so he still has plenty of years left. Despite playing for the Jaguars, he has quietly been a solid lineman.
My OL is now:
Brandon Albert - LG - Brian De La Puente - Uche Nwaneri - Marcus Gilbert
It isn't the best line but I am very happy with it so far. They will provide Manuel with plenty of time to throw and give Miller some good running lanes.
This is a solid line if unspectacular across the board. Nwaneri is dealing with a knee issue of his own. There is something about a stem cell procedure not performed properly as well which I have never heard of before. I have no idea what to expect there honestly.
That was my thought. Now I just have to find a way to keep him healthy.
Delmas has yet to finnish a season in his short 4 year career. He is dealing with multiple knee injuries. Hopefully it doesn't end up cutting his career short. That is always a tough thing to see.
IDK just ask Gabe I'm sure he knows.
Why didn't you pick? You're up.
Interesting pick in Williams. He's been a bit up and down but was limited with a shoulder injury. My favorite bit of info I read concerning him is that he is using yoga in his recovery process.

I think cofield is a similar player to ngata, he excells at the pass rush from the inside. Where as brockers would be a guy who can gobble up linemen and excells most at stopping the run. While I agree they are both versatile enough to do both roles I would consider swapping them as the primary lineup.
