  1. Thanks. He is as long as he can stay healthy. He's been very productive with his touches for the Saints too, but it's hard to stand out in that system, with so many backs sharing the load.

Ivory has a career average of 5.0 yards per carry. He also has a 4.7 ypc after contact average last yr. good for third in the league. He is likely to have a breakout campaign this year as the best back the jets had since Curtis Martin.

  2. Thanks for putting my picks in.

Leonard Johnson I admittedly had limited knowledge of before this process. I had only seen a little of him. I read an article on pff about him. He was an unstaffed free agent out of Iowa. He worked his way into the starting lineup behind other underperforming higher paid players. Tamp as style of defense asks its corners to play man to man a higher percentage of plays than any other team. Despite these responsibilities for the rookie he was solid in his 5 starts. He posted a positive grade in coverage along with 6 passes defenses and 3 interceptions including 1 for a score as well as one forced fumble. The young man dudnt let the success go to his head. He returned to school to finish his degree this offseason and gave several interviews that portrayed him as a very humble hard working individual. Another high character guy for my locker room.

Vereen was a player I debated with several other running backs. I decided on him due to his superior pass catching ability. As a matter of fact the patriots plan to increase his role in the offense including lining him up in the slot as a wide receiver. He can be a young Darren sproles for my saints style offense. Although vereen has higher upside as a runner.

  3. Got bored and did a little "Dubs' coach speak" to my roster. Basically it is just a small defensive, offensive and team philosophy so other GMs get an idea of what type of team you built and how it may all operate on my roster page. Thought it may help with some of the analysis by SAM and others and at this point is not giving away any draft strategy. Would love to see other peoples philiosophies or "coach speak" as I call them, plus it gives you a place to defend your team makeup and your draft, even if it did not go to plan

Great idea, I will add one as well after my next picks.

  4. Pick is in. I chose Brinkley to be a powerful, inside the box run stuffer. He has issues in coverage but won't need to be a 3 down player with Wheeler and Acho. He fits well in my front 7 and gives my defense more balance. Now my defense is complete:

    DE: Chris Long

    DT: Marcel Dareus

    DT/DE: Red Bryant

    OLB/DE: Demarcus Ware

    ILB: Philip Wheeler

    ILB: Jasper Brinkley

    OLB: Sam Acho

    CB: Leon Hall

    CB: Desmond Trufant

    FS: Reggie Nelson

    SS: Pat Chung

It is not a perfect unit but I think it is one of the better groups in this draft. The pass rush should be devestating, the coverage strong, and the run defense solid.

Ware and long is a lethal combo. Darius and Bryant are very solid in the middle. Wheeler is a good coverage wilb. Now acho I am not a fan of at all, Brinkley is not a detriment and is ok against the run he looks to be replaced by minter. Not sure how much better you could have landed as ilb is one if the thinnest positions left.

Hall, trufant, Nelson and Chung is a nice mix in the secondary. If hall can stay healthy I would rank this defense overall near the top.

  5. Was too lazy to check roster.. Just curious

As a TE2 I'd say great pick.. I don't really see Spaeth as a Starter..

    Absolutely great blocking TE

Many would not guess Spaeth was actually the number one blocking tight end ranked by pff. I know you were not alone coveting him.

Hawkins is a fantastic pick for a slot wr. He was my number one available and I was even considering taking him as a fourth wideout.

  6. That's horse crap!

Honestly, I am neither a Julio or Garcon fan. Am I happy about Palmer? Hell no. But there weren't too many alternatives. Even EJ Manuel was drafted.

I would think if I drafted a franchise from scratch, QB would be of the highest priority. I see many people here agree since half the first round were QBs.

The most insane move of this whole draft was the team in the number 2 slot picking Calvin Johnson.

  7. With Julio and Garcon and no running game, you have to have somebody to throw them the ball and make an attempt at an offensive. Plus I felt pressure to get the missed pick in and didn't have time to wade between the threads. It was between Ponder & Palmer. I had to go with the redhead.

Somehow, yes. Though don't expect to much from me at this point in the game, I'm really just here because I thought there would be free donuts.

Agreed. Though my defense has some strong qualities.

I think the defensive front 4 is the best part of that team by far. Linebackers have various questions but should be solid enough. O line has some good pieces.

  8. Two good picks there, Schwenke could beat out Velasco for the Titans starting Center and Tate is a solid RB, my only concern with him is staying healthy.

I like scwenke as well but he's not going to beat out velasco this year. Corvus will definately have the youngest team in the game.

Ben tate I considered, but more concerning than his injuries is that he has underperformed whenever he was given a start. His big games were in mop up duty.

  9. They don't give the water to the defense though.

lol, they had literally the worst defense I have ever seen, especially the secondary.  The epic no defense battle with Baylor was fun to watch.  I measly 1500 yards of combined offense.  Both Austin and Bailey had over 1600 yards of total offense on the year... there was a stretch at the end of the year that Austin became their featured running back and had 57 carries for 540 rushing yards over 4 games.
