He will also be great in Film Study and with the second string recievers becuase he is so familiar with the West coast system. His value extends past the field.
Remember that one year when the secondary was an issue and the next year it wasnt????
I honestly like being underratted and under the radar. That way we can keep those bandwagon fans away. If I see someone Rocking Purple anywhere in the world, I know they are True Raven Fans. We dont need medias reapect, all we need is the opponent to respect us after we leave the field.
He will get extended , Mark my words. Ozzie not going to let him go.
Its good to see we had vets in every catagory out there, Jimmy was out leading the DB's, Smith leading the mad backers, Flacco and SSSR out there. This gets me fired up!
We are going to have some exciting camp competitions. Things are shaping up well. Cant wait until pads!
I honestly believe Joe is Underrated. If you look at the change of Recievers, the quality of recievers, the injuries to top targets, the coaching changes, the years with sub par O lines and to still never post a loosing season. He got thrown into the wolves in training camp and started every game of his carrear. I am dead serious when I say, I would not want another QB for the Ravesn other then Joe Flacco. You can give him whatever rating you want, I give him the title of Championchip winning QB of my beloved Ravens, and thats good enough for me.
Having an expirienced pro, with NFL starting expirience, come in and compeate for a job is never a bad thing. He has been on teams that are coaced by former Ravens coaches so i am sure we have some good homework done. At worst he knows how to practice hard, study film and conduct hiself as a professional. Not bad.
I really hope we stop using Webby for punts!
We are going to have a very good 53. Ozzie came out of last season and said I want to have the best 53 guys. He has a great group to pick from, thats for sure.
Damn I hope this kid does well. This story touched me. I love seeing good people come to our team. I am so porud that Ozzie and Harbs value the character of these young men.
Ken_J, I dont know if you ever saw Brandon Williams, He is a massive DT. To the point that he played the nose while Ngata plaed DE. We have an amazing TRUE nose.
Yanda situation is not really that dire. If we sign him this year, part of our next three year crystal ball comes into place. Next year the 10 Million dead money to Rice will be gone and we already have Joe's salary accounted for. So if Yanda does not sign now, and we move on to someone else to extend, when we enter next off season, we have a great deal of useful options to free up money to keep both. Ozzie will not let us get weak up the middle again.
He does the job Double j did and almost as effective but doesent get the credit for being a really good edge setter. I think he is a tremndous ball player and I hope he gets some sacks so more people can realize that he is a special football player.
This is very similar to when we had Grubbs and a young Yanda. We wanted to keep both and pay both but Grubbs wanted more then we would be willing to accomidate. He played out his last year and we kept Yanda. I think Ozzie will continue to negotiate, but he wont come off his number. I hope we can retain both, however if we can't , i am sure Ozzie has already prepared for both scenerios.
Lets not forget the best thing you can do to help your secondary, Get to the Qb in less then 3 seconds. We did more then sign some DB's to help our secondary. Them boys on the front 7 are no joke.
I really like Melvin, I think he played well with all things considered last year. He remineds me of Webby as a rookie. Not afraid to tackle, really good at the point of contact with his hands. I cant wait to see his growth. I also think that if Terrance brooks can come back and retain his speed he will be a factor, maybe at the end of the year. This will be a solid 53 , I can tell you that.
This is why YOU matter to US coach!
Its now way we are drafting a saftey in the first round. To pair Elam with a rookie FS would get us lit up. We will get a vet FS and we may draft a saftey but not until third round at least only becuase there are no game changin FS's in the draft really. The 1st round prospects are more SS suited or not as rangy as we need.
This is great news. We go into the draft with only a few areas of need. We can be flexible with our picks and draft best player available. What a way to have a Purple Friday
So far we go into the draft needing a FS, MLB, RT, Nickle Corner, slot reciever and TE. I am good with that! We can easily draft for those positions. I still think we get a vet FS and MLB, but I like the position we are in.
WOW Great Signing and for a great price. For all of those folks who said we should have franchised him at 11 mil.....Thank God ozzie dont listen to you! A franchise caliber LT for 5 years and 37.5 mill will give us a lot of flexibility! Go Ozzie Go!

The guy has played 3 different positions in two years. He was a SS in college converted to FRee here, hadd to learn that position. Then moved to Strong, Then moved to Nicle Corner, Then as a Dime back. That is very tough to do. I think now we have depth at every position in the secondary he can really study and master the SS position. I think he will positively surprise a great deal of people.
