I'm so curious to see what we get out of Mike Wallace. He was a home run hitter with the Steelers and the insurance policy for Breshad Perriman that we didn't have last year. I remember being astonished when the Steelers let him leave in favor of Antonio Brown. He would have been a nice compliment to Kamar Aiken or Steve Smith last year.

Kamar Aiken has the mentality, but he just doesn't quite have the same Anquan Boldin skill set. Sometimes persistence and determination are not enough, you have to have some talent too.

I'll take under on both.

Certain players are irreplaceable. Someone else takes their spot, but it's never quite the same. Steve Smith and Terrell Suggs make this team exponentially better by their mere presence alone. They are the rare type of people you find in every profession that just seem to make everyone else around them better. If they can't play the Ravens will move on and be fine, but that doesn't make them replaceable.

I am more optimistic that Steve Smith Sr. will recover from his torn Achilles then Bershad Perriman will recover from bumping his knee--even with the new haircut. P.S. I cannot wait to see what we'll get out of Mike Wallace. He's done. Justin Forsett/Buck Allen/Kenny Dixon. It doesn't even make sense that they would keep him right now. I like the experiment, but it has failed.

Last time they went 5-11 they followed it up with an 11-5 season. You just can't predict one year's record based on the previous year's record, but if you want to try the trend suggests the Ravens follow-up losing seasons with winning seasons--they haven't had back-to-back losing seasons under Billick or Harbaugh. Draft position is designed to bring parity. Our draft picks in 2008 made a huge impact on the field. Our draft picks in 2006 made a huge impact in different ways. When you draft high you draft impact players.

Sergio Kindle, KYLE BOLLER, Michael Oher. Remember what this forum looked like when Branden Trawick took out Jacoby on that kick return... or when Lee Evans dropped that pass in the end zone... or when TJ Houshmandzadeh did the same thing.

Will Hill and Will Davis looked good... Not saying things are wonderful but I am optimistic... The Ravens are making the playoffs.

I hate to see Asa Jackson go. I thought he really showed some potential last preseason and the Ravens need some depth behind Webb. I still think all he needed was some game time...

I received a lot of red in this forum when I said that except for Smith Sr. and Perriman we have a lot of receivers who might be number threes at best, but now it seems the writers agree... hmmm...

"James Hurst took over at the spot..." if Hurst learns to back up right tackle Jah Reid is out the door.

That's a lot of big names on defense... If two guys (i.e. Brent Urban, Kapron Lewis-Moore) show up as big as they flashed last year it might be hard for offenses to do ANYTHING against that group... Never thought I'd say this, but we just traded away Haloti Ngata and got better.

Seems ugly and odd to see Dennis Pitta 6th on the depth chart at TE... In my opinion, he is one, two, or retired.

That was what I was thinking. Even if the officials can't use those cameras due to some league regulation or something, I bet they will take a peek at that big screen and make their decisions more carefully so they aren't called out for making the wrong call on Monday morning.

I'll just be happy when the Dennis Pitta saga is over... Hopefully he can contribute to another winning team, but if not I'll feel a little relief when he finally calls it quits.

Beyond Steve Smith Sr. and Breshad Perriman I see a whole lot of average number-three type players on this list. I hope one of these young guys steps up and proves he is better than his billing, but my money is on the Ravens drafting a number-two receiver with the 64th overall pick in next years draft after sending Steve Smith off into the sunset with a Superbowl ring.

Wow. I just hope that it's possible for Trestman to live up to all this hype. I was optimistic last year when the Ravens grabbed Kubiak, now, partly because of last year, my expectations are even higher and the writers certainly are not tempering my expectations with articles like this.

Maybe I am just naive but I am not concerned about the tight-ends at all... I am more concerned about the Ravens receivers than tight-ends. We have three solid options at tight-end, anyone of them could be great, and we also have Dennis Pitta who could shock the world and recover. Wide receiver seems like we are waiting to see if it will work while TE we are waiting to see how it will work.

Nice attempt, but I doubt Jah will appreciate the genuine thanks lurking somewhere in all that sarcasm.

The reality is we need a few guys like Reid... He provides some depth at a pretty secure position and costs the Ravens next to nothing. We can continue signing him to inexpensive contracts and he can continue providing the Ravens with an adequate backup. This is a better plan than teaching some other average player every year only to have them bust or price themselves out of their contract once they are good enough to contribute. Everyone is knocking Jah Reid because they expect him to be a starter, I say we praise him for eating up so little of the salary cap and playing (not great, but) hard when his number is called.

While I like Lardarius Webb, and I am glad his is a Raven, I think he is just an average returner and he hasn't really done much returning since 2011. There must be someone else on the team that is at least just as average who could take those bonus special teams snaps from an aging player who already has a full-time job at a vital position. Is this really how the Ravens want to expend an eight million dollar a year commodity?

The Ravens requested back-to-back west coast games so they could stay out west... The schedule makers appear to have obliged them... What more can you ask for?

Great? I agree with the sentiment, but great? Hmm... that is a bit of an enormous stretch.

Steve Smith is everything I love about football. I am angry, literally angry, that he didn't spend his entire career in Baltimore. I hope we get that man a Superbowl ring so maybe he'll retire in purple--5 or 10 years down the road.
