  1. Where you been the last 4-5 years? Ozzie has made arguably one good pick in the first two rounds since 2011. CJ Mosley Busts: Matt Elam, Courtney Upshaw, Arthur Brown TBD: Perriman, Jernigan, Correa, Stanley Some of you guys have to stop drinking that purple Kool aid and accept ozzies recent failures which have let this franchise down. Love how guys edit the facts to try and make a point. I guess you don't think KO is good? And I guess Brandon Williams, Ricky Wagner, Juice & Tavon doesn't fit your "Ozzie can't draft" agenda because they were drafted past the 2nd Round? Justin Tucker & Zach Orr - why would Ozzie ever bring these guys in when nobody else did - he must know that they suck, right? Just because he drafts a few of busts LIKE EVERY TEAM IN THE LEAGUE doesn't mean he is a failure. Belichick has the worst draft record in the NFL the past few years.... The draft is a crap shoot with most players becoming BUSTS. And you can't judge a draft after 1-2 years. Julian Edelman sucked so bad for his first 4 years that the only team that would sign him in free agency was the Pats on a 1 year vet minimum deal.
  2. The KC pick til this day still puzzles me because there was so many other more talented players than him left, but besides that, Bronson had an unforseeable injury. In 15' we took the best TE in the draft and a run stuffing DT who had a top 50 grade on him. In 14' we took Jernigan who was a beast at FSU and Gilmore who was over drafted, but outside of that, most recent picks weren't initially as terrible as many people make them up to be. In 13' Art Brown looked like a legit talent and just never panned out and Williams has been arguably the best run stuffing NT in the league. Dude c'mon don't be a homer... Our draft success in recent years has been poor at best and our ability to retain players has been even worse. Max Williams and Carl Davis has been bums, Correa and Kaufasi were not smart picks regardless of bronson's injury. The entire 2015 draft class will be off the team before long, heck only 3 players are on our roster combined from the 2009-2012 drafts and depending on how free agency pans out we may only have 1-2 left from the 2013 draft. This isn't a new issue, our draft success has gone down the toilet That's every team in the league. And you only get 4 years from most of your draft picks - after that, their agents tell them to test the waters because there's always a few teams with a boatload of cap space (Cleveland has $100 million in cap space this year) willing to throw obscene money at free agents. Very few players re-sign with their original team - Josh Norman, Bruce Irvin, Lamar Miller, KO, Maclin, etc. You have to way overpay them like Von Miller, franchise them or they walk. So, very few teams have players left from the 2009-2012 drafts. And most will lose most of their players from the 2013 draft. The average rate of success for all teams in the past 5 years is 1 starter per draft.
  3. Your are uncomfortable with Flacco being friends with guys on the offensive side of the ball ? I hope you are joking here. He isn't throwing dinks and dunks to Pitta because they are BFFs. He is throwing them because the WRs down the field are covered or at least he has the perception that they are covered. Do you want him to force it into coverage. If Crockett Gilmore or Maxx or whoever were out there instead of Pitta he would be throwing to them. Because of their close relationship they are more in sync with each other. You need to invert your statement. Instead of wanting Joe and Pitta to end their friendship, you should be hoping that he develops similar relationships with his other receivers on the team. Being angry because Pitta gained 720 yards last year is absurd. Cmon man. Because they are bffs, Pitta got his $3M bonus/ salary back, and a lot of it had to do with these 5-8 yard dinks to pitta bread. How many times do you remember when Flacco hit pitta bread with a 20 yard pass? Exactly... Flacco went to Pitta so much because he's the only one he could trust to actually catch the ball. Wallace, Aiken, Waller, Perriman, all - drop after drop after drop. Pitta, SSS & Juice were the only ones with good hands.
  4. Juice couldn't block even if he was driving behind a semi truck- have you not seen games where he continues to get man- handled like a my little pony doll Yeah it was pretty sweet when he fell down on the goal line for no reason instead of blocking when we went for it on 4th and 1 with west early in the year. It was a close game we lost, I think Washington. He's so overated it's ridiculous. It was the Giants game. And then there was the Safety on Dixon in the Pats game. A lead fullback should never get stood up (behind the line of scrimmage) on a dive play from his own endzone. And even worse, it was his man that made the tackle. I could see re-signing Juice for his pass catching abilities especially if you let go some of the overpriced TE. He's a nice gadget player to have in there that does have some decent hands.
  5. What were the other options we had at QB when the confetti was dropping in New Orleans? Eventually most teams will have to BUCK UP for their QB. The Raiders are next. Pay Carr and not resign other key players along with not being able to sign free agents due to cap space. That's life in the NFL today. Exactly. The Falcons paid their choke artist QB $100 million and he's coming up on Free Agency. Cousins is going to get $25 million per. And Stafford is talking that he wants his contract to start at $150 million....Add in Carr, Winston, Mariota in the next 2-3 years and Flacco's contract is going to seem cheap....
  6. only if the price is right I mean what games did some of you guys watch for Christ sake this guy is good But NOT Great and should make nowhere close to 10 mill a year and with we overpay him we will be set back again I would rather have a top CB or Receiver I watched every game, no one played as well as Willams. Sure The Ravens young guys did a good job, however big guys cannot play all the downs no matter who they are. So your point is you would rather give up first downs, control of the ball and possibly multiple scores. No one is arguing getting a CB, It can be done but lets stay in contention. Williams shut down run games, he has the capability of playing some pass however its not his best suit. The Ravens have no veteran DL if Williams goes. I believe he is an anchor of the team. He is a leader on and off the field. I would give up Zuttah and Dumervil for Williams any day of the week. I would risk a Rookie Center or developing a replacement, than a weakened DL. The LB crew will be fine without Doom. As far as a WR, the Ravens can afford one with the loss of SSr. I argue that the Ravens have the space to keep Williams. If you are saying you don't want him, that is just something that we disagree on. I agree 100%. And getting a "top CB or WR" means $12 million+. Garcon wants $9 million & Brandon Marshall (if cut) wants $12 million. That's a lot of cash to pay for an old WR. CB Stephon Gilmore wants $14 million. Cutting Dumervil, Shareece Wright & Kyle Arrington gets you the money to sign Williams ($10 million+). You're going to replace Wright with a CB in the draft anyway. Same with Arrington. Cutting Watson & Kendrick Lewis gets you most of the money to resign Wagner. All 5 of those guys have in house replacements. And more importantly, your entire O-line stays intact (Ravens were 4-0 last year when they all started together). If you didn't cut anyone else, you'd still have about $9 million to go out and get a veteran WR/CB/ILB. Add in at least 1 maybe 2 top CB in the draft and this defense looks infinitely better - BWill, Pierce, Suggs, Judon, Mosley, Peanut, Weddle, Webb, Jimmy, Tavon, Draft CB, Draft CB, Draft S. Still have Kaufusi, KC, Davis, Henry, ZaDarius, Canady waiting in the wings.....That's a Top 5 defense.
  7. Matthews only has 2 accrued seasons (on roster for at least 6 games) which makes him a ERFA (His 1st season he was only active for 3 games - promoted to the 53 in December of 2014). Chris Lewis-Harris has 4 accrued seasons making him a UFA. Being Inactive for a game still counts towards the 6 games. You can't just look at Games Played (which is probably what Spotrac did) - it's 6 games on the 53 man roster. Plus he's over 27 years old.
  8. It wasn't the o line as much as the coaches not calling the running plays or not calling at the right times Not buying that. We had a makeshift O-line for 75% of the games....The games where we had our starting o-line, we were 4-0. If you have a shaky o-line that can't run block, why would you call run plays? That's like throwing a jump ball for Mike Wallace or calling a long bomb to Crockett Gilmore. The Guard & Center are the most important positions for running the ball - we had Zuttah, a hurt Yanda playing out of position and Old Vlad - sound like a good o-line to run with? The Cowboys had the best running game because they had the best o-line & best RB - had little to do with the coaches....
  9. Camp, Jensen & West will get original round tenders. Onwausor can't sign with any other team, period. Really just leaves Juice, Wagner & Williams. And I agree - Williams is the priority....
  10. I agree. Drafting a CB in the 1st round gives you 5 years of below market salary.
  11. WOW. You had -1 votes when I got to your comment. Some people on these boards are seriously ridiculous. Literally everything in your post was FACTUALLY TRUE. Obviously some people just can't handle facts and the truth about this team. You think it's a good idea to base your QB on 1 stat - Passer Rating? That's how you evaluate QBs in the NFL? Flacco was 19th in QBR, he was 7th in Passing Yards, 11th in Completion %, 11th in Yards per Game & 18th in TDs despite playing behind a patchwork o-line for 75% of the games, with a RB that averaged 48 yards a game, and the TE being the leading Reciever. So, if you base your QB play on Passer Rating, Cam Newton is one of the WORST QBs in football (Ranked 28th). That's your FACTUAL STANCE? Cam has Kelvin Benjamin, Greg Olson, Devin Funchess, Jonathan Stewart and still finishes 29th despite being the 8th QB in salary cap? The Panthers should take your advice and cut him ASAP! SMH. Matt Ryan was the MVP, will have a cap number only 800k less than Flacco and has CHOKED in every meaningful game he's ever played in (including college) but you think he's the best QB in the league (highest passer rating)....Flacco is a solid QB that can win big games especially in the 4th quarter (game winning drives vs, JAX, OAK, NYG, PIT, WAS). $20 million+ is the going rate for that type of QB..... Some people just twist the facts to justify their personal truths and agendas about this team.
  12. It should read "Players with two OR FEWER accrued seasons....
  13. Yeah, I'm sure if a guy choked out your pregnant mom or daughter only ONCE, you'd be cool with him.....cuz he's a baller and they aint nothing but tricks, right?
  14. His film was pretty impressive. Great at setting the edge and made plays to get to the QB. Played up against better competition. Much, much better game tape than Noah Spence who was lazy, struggled against the run (still does) & loafed when the play went to the other side and didn't show up against bigger competition. These are the two guys that most Monday morning GMs like to compare to one another. It will be interesting to see how they do next year. Can KC get on the field? Will Spence recover from his major shoulder surgery and be able to deal with the likelihood that it keeps reoccurring thru out his career?
  15. Well we have probably about 10 positions on this team that could use upgrading, and if you're committing most of your salary cap just on keeping existing players, it will be extremely difficult to upgrade those. Certainly can't do it all via the draft. Safety, Corner, Pass rusher (especially when you cut Doom), MLB, WR, Center, etc. Lots of holes to fill and only so much money/draft picks to do it with. Yes, but the difference being we have some in house replacements for Doom - Judon & Za'Darius. Can they take the next steps? Seems so or they can at least be as productive as an aging Doom would be this year. Meanwhile, if Wagner goes, you don't have a solid player to fill that hole in the o-line (let's assume that Lewis can move to RT, now a hole at LG). Which means that you have to start an inferior player, sign a vet (gonna cost you $3-4 million anyway) or start a rookie. This draft is deep at Safety, Corner, Pass Rusher, Center and lots of quality WRs in the mid rounds. I think Peanut can fill in for Orr at MLB (he looked good in the Cincy game) with KC as the fall back option. If not, veteran ILB are cheap & easily found on the waiver wire. Really, the holes are mostly on the depth chart - not the starting spots. ILB and DL (if Bwill goes) are the only "starters" we need to fill on defense (You have Peanut & Pierce that could possibly fill those positions). Yes, we need a quality 3rd corner but we have Webb, Weddle, Tavon, Smith as our starters in the secondary. On offense, we need a 3rd WR and a back-up C. We are in a much better situation than some other teams like the Bengals who have to replace most of their Offensive & Defensive Line this year. Or the Squealers, who are going to commit almost all of there salary cap money to keeping Bell & Brown.
  16. I don't see why they can't do both. Cutting Dumervil will save $6 million - that alone is almost enough to sign Wagner (whom I suspect will be somewhere in the same range as top RTs Schraeder (Falcons) & Schwartz (Chiefs) of $6.5-7 million per). Is their anyone who would rather have Dumervil over Wagner at this point?
  17. First off, I appreciate the detailed response and you make a lot of valid points. I'm sorry if I implied that I don't have faith in Pierce or that I don't want to see him on the field. For starters, I don't give a NT much credit or criticism when it comes to sacks because I know that it comes and goes. He may have 7 one season and 1 the next and have a better year overall. Sacks is not a NTs job. Ultimately, a NT needs to swallow double teams and dictate to the opposing offense where the run game goes. B.Will is one of the best at doing that. He regularly makes life easy for our DEs and MLBs. That comes from overall awareness of scheme and football IQ. And of course you need to be physically gifted to be able to do that against opposing linemen. pierce is a fantastic athlete and can push a car over if he wanted to. I'm just not sure he diagnoses plays and knows when to sacrifice his body or stats for the better of the team. That's not a knock on Pierce but the Ravens play a complicated scheme on the line and if one person steps out of line then we give up big plays not an extra yard or 2. Pierce started loosing playing time as the season went on and to me that's a big concern. Maybe it's not his fault but that's an indication that he's just not ready. Early in the season when our D was full strength, we put Pierce in situations where he didn't need to think much. Just beat the guy in front of you. well to keep things simple, having Bwill start and Pierce play 30-50 percent of snaps is a luxury that id love to keep. Dline was one of the few consistant units on this team so why mess with it if you can afford to keep it? We can handle an injury crisis but if Pierce is the starter then he gets hurt or we need more bodies on 3rd and short or goal line then what? If Williams demands 8-10 mil a year then he's a talent that is worth us working around. It's not like he's going to ask for Suh money or we can't get out of his contract whenever Pierce is ready. i think iv said this on another thread, the Ravens ultimately have 30-35 million in cap space to work with for 2017 without letting go of players who started last year. If we keep b will and Wagner that's probably gonna count 10-12 mil against the cap combined in 2017. That leaves 15-20mil to attack a draft and FA this year so it's not like we were 2 years ago where we need to make a lot of sacrifices. Id love to have Gilmore but now we may be talking of something like 12mil a year money and I'm not sure our FO would have 2 CBs making 25 mil a year. B.Marshall on the other hand is someone that I think we should pursue before he gets released. Heck throw a 6th round their way and we're done here lol. His 7.5 mil cap hit is so doable and we could even sign him to an extension and spread the cap hit as he is in his last year of his deal. This will be an interesting off season as our current roster doesn't have any glaring need but a whole bunch of positions that could get upgraded. Well said. I agree that Pierce has the natural talent but I didn't see much consistency from him last year. He flashed a couple of games but was nowhere to be found in our biggest games (Pit, NE, etc). The NT position is not about sacks - it's about controlling both A gaps & making the o-line double & triple team you (something that BWill is one of the best in the league at). IF Pierce can take the next step, he is a replacement for BWill - if he doesn't, the Ravens have a huge hole up the middle that teams will run all day on. I would much rather see BWill signed and have Pierce play next to him - that makes our d-line so much stronger. Wallace is a selfish, one trick pony that disappears in games. I would much rather dump him, start Moore and use that money to sign BWill. Not that hard to replace a 65 yard per game WR.
  18. Chosen by one ancient old dude that probably didn't watch a single game because he couldn't find the remote...Tunsil is on it but not Stanley, please. It's a joke. This is the same guy that picked Tre Mason, Jace Amaro and chose Thomas Rawls over David Johnson....
  19. Agree 100%. Watch the tape - this guy is not an NFL player....
  20. Problem is he doesn't want to listen to coaches, work on how to run routes or study game film. Talent alone doesn't do anything in the NFL, hence the 4th or 5th WR on the Vikings. Doesn't want to put in the work.....
  21. I wanted Ozzie to resign Upshaw in the first place when he was a free agent but instead they want a draft pick instead SMH. The worst part was that he was not expensive to resign. We could've sign him a 2 or 3 year deal. l kept saying that we should've kept Upshaw because he was he was a very underrated player that is good against the run and ok at passrushing. Upshaw is physical. In 13 games, he had a total of 24 tackles & 1 sack. Jerraud Powers had 33 tackles & 1 sack. I'd rather have the 3rd Round comp pick this year....
  22. The Falcons can make it back to the Super Bowl if they fire their OC, fire their DC, fire their HC for not running the ball & horrible clock management. Get rid of their overpriced $100 million choke artist QB that can't win a play-off game - they can sign Ryan Mallett for 1/5 of the cost. That would free up $ so they could sign Eric Berry, Brandon Williams & Alshon Jeffery. Draft Darrell Revi...I mean Desmond King in the 1st Round, and Alpha Dawgs - DeVonte Fields & Joe Mixon. Hire Gary Kubiak, Norv Turner & Rex Ryan as coaches. Trade Tevin Coleman to the Browns for Joe Haden & a 1st Round pick. Sign Anquan Boldin & Bernard Pollard. Easily win the next 3 straight Super Bowls.....
  23. Break out the tin foil hats. I hear there's aliens in the Nevada desert too. While I agree with you, it does seem strange that just when it started to look like the Falcons were going to blow them out (already 14-0), the Pats got 3 straight "defensive holding calls" on 3rd down. And other than the "illegal touching" on the onside kick, not a single penalty on the Pats the entire 2nd half but 4 flags on the Falcons. "Scripted" is way past conspiracy theory but whistles by the refs in basketball have been used to "shave points" & "engineer comebacks" for the past 50 years....
  24. I've seen Matt Ryan play since his college days and in all those years I can't think of one game where he needed to win and he didn't choke. He puts up great numbers during regular season games but when the playoffs begin he is mediocre at best. Yup, Phillip Rivers 2.0. Choke artists come play-offs. 52 seconds on the clock and all you needed was FG. Throw a 4 yard checkdown (doesn't get out of bounds), spike the ball, throw a horrible (intercepted) pass to a double covered TE. No Julio, no Sanu, the TE....smh. The Falcons 4th Quarter possessions - Punt, Fumble, Punt, Punt. Add in the 2nd worst play-call in Super Bowl history and taking a sack from a defender up the middle that Ryan is looking at = CHOKE!
  25. We had Kubiak when the Falcons got Shanahan. And Shanny just choked in the biggest game of the season - zero adjustments at half time, offense was horrible the 2nd half. You have the NFL MVP, a top o-line, arguably the best WR in football and one of the top RB in football and you can't win? Man, glad he's not anywhere near this team.....
