  1. Exactly.
  2. More troll drivel......Stanley? Young? Dixon? BWill? Mosey? Juice? Wagner? KO? I guess they don't fit your troll agenda.......trolls gonna hate....
  3. it's ludicrous. plus we need too see if there's any reason to hang onto Mallet as our back up Mallet is a UFA. But, if anything, hope he plays and throws for 500 yards and 4 TDs so some bonehead team will give him $10 million a year and we get a high comp pick.
  4. Look at how those teams REALLY faired. They actually played a challenging schedule. I'd guess mid level in the league. They played the Top 3 teams in the NFL and 7 games against teams in the play-offs (8 if Washington makes it). Playing half your schedule against play-off teams is pretty tough.
  5. Me too - that way, some bonehead team will give Mallet $10 million and we get another high comp pick....
  6. If we can gain 6 Mill in cap space its time to say bye bye I don't buy into that argument. Ok, you cut Doom and then what? You can't get a decent pass rusher for that amount of $$. Yes, you have Judon that can replace him but what happens when Judon gets hurt? And suppose a 34 year old Suggs is banged up at the same time? Now, you have zero pass rush and our secondary gets lit up again. You just threw away an entire season to save $6 million. Sound like a good trade off? Now, if come August and Doom is getting beat in practice by several other guys, then yes, you cut him. Cap is going up again next year and our only real FA are BWill & Wagner. If Bwill wants $100 million+, your going to let him walk anyway. For those of you that always gripe about Flacco's contract, the Bills are probably going to have to pay Tyrod Taylor $30 million to ride the bench next year. And the Cowboys are going to have to pay Romo $25 million to ride the bench. The Texans will pay Brock $19 million to ride the bench.
  7. I guess Ronnie Stanley, Kenneth Dixon & Tavon Young don't count?
  8. Exactly. If you've played football at the college level you know how tough these guys are. Less than 1% of the biggest, baddest Div 1 football players make it to the NFL. That's why we all laugh at the "Alpha Dawg" clown comments......
  9. There is always a choice as to how they will retire. It's not like baseball folks. I am not sure what that even means? What is the baseball reference. I am not exactly sure what you are saying so I am going to try to cover all of the bases here. In theory you are right. If all of those guys wanted to retire Ravens they could have quit after they got cut. But they all thought they had more years a head of them. And no one is going to quit just so they can say they have stayed with the same team their entire career. But if what you are saying is that they have a choice to retire with a team that they didn't last play for last, by signing a one day contract, that is true, they do have that choice. But what is confusing to me is that Baseball players are free to do the same thing and they do. I guess I am not sure exactly what you are saying here. But regardless, when you spend 13 years of your life playing for a team, and you are a mature adult, you get over the infighting that happened in the last two years you were there. The guy has a house there, just opened up a clinic and I just don't see him being the type of guy that is going to hold a grudge over the cities head for the rest of his life. The disputes he had were between him, the front office and coaches. Steve isn't going to retire a Raven because of his disputes he had with a hand full of people in NC. On the contrary he is going to retire as a Carolina Panther because of the fans who have absolutely no control of the decisions that the front office makes. In other words it wouldn't make sense to disappoint millions of people because you had a disagreement with 5. And frankly, again this is NOT going to happen, but if he did retire a Raven I wouldn't think highly of that choice. When baseball players go into the HOF they are attached to a team - i.e. Babe Ruth, New York Yankees. Cal Ripken, Baltimore Oriole. Their plaque shows them in their uniform with hat and lists their teams on the plaque. The Football HOF does not, it's just the bust of the players head.
  10. I have been involved in "organized football" for much longer than 5 years. One thing I can tell you there was a drastic improvement in Elam since Weddle has been here. As far as the salaries go... Ben Watson was injured in the final game of preseason that was unavoidable... He'll be back next year. Hester was a bust; yes, but that's the only one that I can say they may regret. To now have West and Dixon, keeping Forsett for part of the year was NOT a bad idea at all considering they knew that it would be a while before we got Dixon back. Injuries to Watson and Dixon were unavoidable. Bisciotti is a successful businessman, and I'm sure with being in the business for all these years, he understands all of that. Come on man. Over 5 years, as a player or coach? Or were you the one responsible for providing the kids with orange slices at half time? Elam barely got on the field this year and when he did he looked awful. The guy is terrible in coverage and can't seem to make tackles consistently. Do you remember this? .http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap3000000756193/Tom-Brady-dials-up-79-yard-TD-pass-to-Chris-Hogan I don't think Watson is a lock to be on the team next year. I don't think we would have even considered signing him when we did if we thought Pitta was coming back. We already have a 30 year old TE on the team, and he is five years younger than Watson. Pitta is superior to Watson in every aspect of the game and with Waller, Gilmore, and M Williams coming back to go along with Dennis, Watson is just a spare. If you knew as much about football as you claim, you would know that in Cover 3, Elam is responsible for the Smash/Dig route the outside WR is running (or for the RB in the flat) while the Deep Safety and CB are responsible for the Seam WR (Hogan). Just because a DB lines up over a guy does not mean that's "his man". Elam played that exactly like he should have - which is why Harbs & Weddle said so - but you must know better than all of them. Watson will be back until Gilmore proves he can stay healthy. Waller has bricks for hands so you can't rely on him. Basically, out of that group other than Watson, Pitta is the only true pass-catcher. Maxx is the wild card - if he comes back and lives up to his talent, then the Ravens may let Watson walk for the salary cap space.
  11. Did you watch the last play to AB? Then you would have seen it was a pick play. The DB covering AB was picked by the other WR - Powers switched onto AB like he should have but he was already trailing at that point. Pees blitzed 4 times on that final drive. What happens when you don't get to the QB on a blitz? Big yardage. That loss is on Suggs, Doom, Jernigan, Orr for not getting to the QB in 1-on-1 matchups.
  12. Ravens always get the Short end of the stick. I'd like to see a Monday Night Game in Baltimore Someday. Being that the Ravens - Squealers game broke all the NFL Network viewing records, I'm sure that both of those games will be in primetime next year.
  13. This draft is weak at WR and with true shutdown corners available in the 1st Round - that's where you go. Plenty of solid FA WR out there this year. Garcon was mentioned, but I would like to see Kenny Britt - he's that big, tall, good hands WR that we need.
  14. In 2014, you had a younger version of SSS but more importantly, KO and a healthy Yanda. Two of the best G in football - I would say that would make a much bigger difference than the OC.
  15. Terrible outlook for this team who have busted their buns for the fans. Stop watching if this is all you can muster for them on the final game. Go Ravens. Hey pal im entitled to an opinion as you are just because you don't like it to bad I love the Ravens but I'm going to keep it real I hope they win but the way pees calls a defense soft and off coverage I expect to lose again in the 4th quarter I agree, prevent Peez "D", prevents us from winning! Learn the difference between Cover 6 (vs 4 WR) and Prevent defense. If the offense is lining up 4 WRs, what defense are you calling? Are you going to stay with a 3-4-4 package or go to a 4-2-5 nickel package? Are you going to play Cover 6, Cover 2 or Cover 4? For the record, Pees called four LB blitzes in that final drive (Orr had to audible out of 1 because the Squealers went 5 wide with Bell). Last time I checked, blitzing a LB was not a prevent defense. But, you may know more about that than me.
  16. The front office deserves blame as they have wiffed on many high draft picks. Prime example? Matt Elam. I watched Elam play at Florida and nothing screamed first round pick. But, I screamed when he was selected and the Ravens reached for him and at the very least should have taken another too highly rated, Cyprien. Elam might have laid big hits on 175 lb. receivers but he is/was no match for NFL caliber players. The front office has proven by it's history that they cannot identify great offensive playmaker talent and that is concerning to say the least. Cyprien hasn't been much better. For the first 3 years with the Jags, he was getting beat quite often & missing a ton of tackles (sound familiar?) - they benched him several times for several games, signed other veteran safeties and pretty much wrote him off. The Jags defense hasn't been anything special with him in it. He had a good year this year in his contract year but he's still a liability in coverage. The Jags are letting him walk, if that tells you anything. It was just a bad draft year for safeties - no safety drafted after Elam has done anything substantial in the NFL either. Just like last year was a bad year for WRs - Kevin White, Nelson Agholor, Breshad Perriman, Phillip Dorsett, Devin Smith, Dorial Green Beckham, Devin Funchess - all top draft picks, none of them living up to that value.
  17. The guy is playing with a torn bicep...ever try a swim move on a 350 lb Tackle with a torn bicep?
  18. Steve Smith needs 235 yards for 1,000 yards. The Ravens Single Game Record for Receptions is 13. This game is meaningless besides being SSS last game. Let's THROW HIM THE DANG BALL so he can go out as a 1,000 yard WR who set the Ravens Single Game Record in his last game. I want to see a 15-240-1 line. Can't think of a more fitting tribute for a player who defines & exemplifies what it means to "Play Like A Raven"
  19. 1. No proof that either of those guys would be a better HC. McDaniels was terrible as a HC and destroyed the Broncos franchise (1st Round pick on Tebow..lol). Shanahan has sucked as an OC everywhere he's been that didn't have Julio Jones. The Ravens didn't let Kubiak get away - it was Kubiak's dream to HC for Elway with the team he played for - nothing was stopping that from happening. 2. C'mon be real. Bell is regarded as one of the best RB in the NFL. Antonio Brown is regarded as one of the best WR in the NFL. West/Dixon is nowhere near the level of Bell and SSS at 37 is nowhere near the level of AB. Pees did not play "prevent" on the last series. He blitzed on over half the plays. Learn the difference between Cover 6 (vs 4 WR) and Prevent Defense 3. Not every coach calls the plays - in fact it's quite the opposite. It's a coaching philosophy much like a management philosophy. Ever have a manager that micro-managed everything you did? Did you enjoy that? Ever have a manager that let you do your job without interfering? Harbaugh is the latter, Belichick is the former. Secondly, If Pollard could play then why hasn't ANY team signed him the last 2 years? (Because he sucks and can't play). Noah Spence had more issues than just weed and what has he done - he has 5.5 sacks - Pernell McPhee had 6 sacks his rookie year - not exactly a "sack machine baller" as you claim. Shane Ray was drafted in the 1st Round BEFORE the Ravens pick. Harbs has little to no impact on who the Ravens draft which is a typical front office structure (You should learn how the business side of Football is run) And please go up to Yanda, BWill, Mosley, Weddle, Orr and tell them they are not tough "Alphas" but are soft, Yes men. If you ever played any type of football above the high school level, you would know what a clown argument that is.
  20. Of course it isn't. But looking at the situation, does it warrant blowing the entire team to bits and starting over? The article argues that PIT missed 3 or 5 and didn't take the scorched earth approach to the situation. Not sure what you're advocating to fix this, but if it involves the dismissal of the HC, what was also pointed out in this article is that PIT is in because they have drafted top notch playmakers over the past few years and we have not. The HC cannot be w/o fault. He has decision making capabilities as to who stays and who goes when it comes to roster cuts. Even if the players are not quite pro bowl players. And he has decided to cut players that deserved to stay to keep or bring in players like Hester which will forever be one of the worst calls he's ever made. He's made so many in game clock management blunders that have cost us at least 3 games this season alone. He has made poor decisions with coordinator hires that has left us with a 9 yr QB who is heavily reliant on a coordinator to help him play well. Our nasty streak has left the building and its what has kept us a dominant organization for years even with years of having an inept offense. This is Harbaugh's team now and I barely recognize it. I'm not saying dismantle or blow up the team, but staying the exact same would constitute insanity. Something has to change, and if keeping HB is what's done, then the coordinators and assistant coaches needs to be revamped, along with the scouting department. Show your source that Harbaugh brought in Hester. You have no clue on how this front office works. The HC doesn't bring in players or trade players. More than likely, Harbaugh said to DeCosta or Ozzie, "we need a kick returner, what we have isn't working". Ozzie then goes to Moriarty and says, "we need a kick returner, what's the salary cap number we can afford". Ozzie then goes to Vincent (Director of Pro Personnel)., "We need a kick returner and we have $2 million to spend, who's available?" Jacoby Jones, Devin Hester, Player X, Player Y. Ok, call Hester, X & Y's agents and get them in here for a workout immediately - our 1st game is in 8 days. Player X said he has another workout with the Lions and will probably sign. Hester will be here tonight. Player Y can be here on Wednesday.
  21. if you follow the Ravens closely, the hiring of Trestman over Gase made sense, the Ravens knew Gase was going to be a head coach so they wanted consistency but it did not work with Trestman. I agree with your point that we need a creative OC but who now? We have to bear in mind that we want someone who will stay for at least 3 to 4 yrs. We cannot hire a HC candidate to be our OC. I agree on not hiring Gase, but Kyle Shanahan would of been a nice hire after leaving Cleveland in 2014, he is doing great in Atlanta. Julio Jones.
  22. Ravens are current sitting at 17 pk. Depend on Sunday game, we can go as high at 14pk or as low as 20pk. Maybe we should use some of our TEs in a trade and move up high to draft a game changer. There are few teams up in the draft that need TEs and WR. We have right now Pitta, Gilmore, Boyle, Max, Waller, Watson. We won't need all of them next year. Trading couple of them to move up will be nice. Also we will need a nasty/starter center/G, maybe in 2nd, 3rd rounds or trade. On the other side, don't give up on Correi and Kaufusi. Let see their development. Maybe next year we will be able to judge them. We don't need to move up - there are plenty of shutdown corners in this draft - Tabor/King/Humphrey that will be there at 15-20. Tyler Orlosky is the nasty C that you want - maybe 3rd or 4th round.
  23. Powers dove at the ball. He wasn't initially covering Brown but the Steelers ran a pick/rub play and he had to switch to Brown which left him trailing on the play - he made a dive for the ball. Can't blame him on that play - Weddle & Mosley have to make the tackle (which in reality they did but AB made a great play by reaching out).
  24. LOL at you calling Leslie Frazier, Hue Jackson, Chuck Pagano, Gary Kubiak & Jim Caldwell "washed up, docile types that are just grateful to have a job" 1. Wrong. Mattison was the Ravens LB coach before he got promoted to DC, so Harbaugh did promote in-house. Ray Lewis & Terrell Suggs lobbied for Mattison to take over as the DC. As far as unaccomplished - I think you need to go back and watch the defenses of Florida when they won those National Championships - Mattison was the co-DC not a position coach. Before that, he was the DC for the Michigan D that led the Big 10 four years in a row. 2. Marvin Lewis said the same thing - that the dance was "nonsense". It's typical of most "old school" coaches. Same with celebrations in the end-zone - they hate it. And it wasn't close to "the 1st thing he did".
