a meniscus tear (even a minor one) after micro fracture surgery is NOT a minor annoyance. But thanks for ur medical opinion Dr. Bio.

I certainly wouldn't call it a major annoyance either.

We are talking about a 5 year difference in injuries at the very least.

It's still the same knee. When Ramsey misses time this year because of it i will expect to hear back from you with more of your expert analysis.

Why would him missing time validate a connection between 5 year old microfracture surgery and this current, torn meniscus? Don't you think if the micro fracture surgery was to cause any lingering injury, wouldn't something have come up in the 4 years he played completely injury free afterward? If Ramsey does have issues during the season with the knee, couldn't it just be that the meniscus wasn't fully healed, or that another unrelated issue occurred?

Claiming that the 2 are definitely related and will definitely cause future issues is ridiculous. Maybe if over the next 3-4 years we see frequent and re-occurring injuries with the same knee - then there may be some substance to that though.

But as of right now theres absolutely ZERO to indicate or substantiate that theres any shred of credibility to what youre saying.

It's not ridiculous, it's medical science. Microfracture surgery is used to repair damaged articular cartilage (the coating on the ends of the bone - think the end of a chicken leg). Once cartilage is lost, it cannot be replaced. The surgery creates fibrocartilage in place of the missing cartilage but fibrocartilage is more brittle and less DURABLE. That cartilage rubs directly & constantly against the meniscus (a cartilage disc in the knee in between to two bones). I'm sure that John Urshel can breakdown the physics and mathematics of the effects of friction on two opposing surfaces but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that if one of the surfaces is inferior, it will breakdown over time more frequently. And if one side is rougher (like the microfracture side) it will cause issues on the other surface (like the meniscus side). We don't know if the trauma that Ramsey suffered would have torn the meniscus if healthy or not but there is definitely medical & scientific proof that athletes that have had microfracture surgery are more likely and susceptible to future knee injuries. Only a dozen or so players in the HISTORY of the NFL have ever had microfracture surgery and had a career longer than 5 years. Myles Jack is just the opposite - he tore his meniscus and because of that (and the way it rubs on the articular cartilage) he will need microfracture surgery at some point. It goes both ways.

Good points Worm. But get ready to be attacked by all the alleged know it alls on this site.

This makes the Stanley pick look genius......

Well, I think the two are unrelated. At this point, Ramsey's injury looks like a minor annoyance and he's projected to be 100% healthy by the time the camp comes - if the initial diagnosis holds, and this is indeed only a minor meniscus tear.
And I think Stanley was the right choice anyway, Ramsey's injury notwithstanding ;)

  4. Very solid draft as we get great depth and a few potential starters. My only knock on the draft, which many have already stated is that we should not have passed up on Spence after the trade back. Correa is a high potential player with burst, a relentless motor and great work ethic, but he is not as good against the run as Spence and he isn't as natural of a pass rusher either.

After a few years we will tell, but Spence is far more refined and was extremely successful on the left side at Ohio State, which faces far better competition in the Big 10 then Boise State.

U need to do your homework. Spence was labeled a one trick pony (pass rusher) by all the experts and is considered terrible against the run. Correa is an all around player. Nuff said.

  5. The Ravens got an A the year we drafted Kindle and Cody and last year Perriman got us an A as well and how did that turn out. In reality, it is a C- or a D at best. We are so scared of players that made mistakes in college that we drafted boy scouts and altar boys. Sorry, Football is a violent sport and sometimes those guys can straighten out and sometimes they get in more trouble, but we just can't keep avoiding everybody because of college mistakes. Terrell Suggs, Ray Lewis, Jamal Lewis, Ray Rice just to name a few were crucial in either one or both of the super bowls and based on our logic of drafting now, none of them would be on the Ravens. There are quite a bit more and Ozzie used to seek these guys out, now Bisciotti has neutered him and he has to take the squeaky clean guys who really are not the playmakers. The Ravens are a football team, not a personnel company and they can't be run the same way, Steve. We had a lousy draft and we ran away from the best players.

U need to get a job as a GM in the NFL. Let us know which NFL team hires you.

  6. So they move back and miss Myles Jack and Noah Spence who is a top 15 pick without the character concerns and who may be the best pure pass rusher...SMDH. We needed to do really good in the draft this year, I was kinda bummed about the Stanley pick then slept on it and realized that it was actually a really good pick, then when I think things get more exciting day 2, we let the Jags take Jack and miss on the best available pass rusher. I'm done with this draft.

    goodnight

  7. No matter how you look at it, we have a brutal and tough schedule both at home and away. It's going to take a lot of calls going our way this coming year to have a winning season and a chance at making the playoffs. Also, we better build up our roster to not just compete but to dominate. As I see it, every team on our schedule is much improved from 2015. So, we need to buckle down and perform as players and coaches.

A few tough games but the schedule is anything but brutal, especially our home games. U must not have much faith in the Ravens. Nuff said.

  8. I don't think the Ravens will draft him because of off field issues. Walter Football reported teams were concerned about him and partying and he was suspended the first game of the season reportedly for refusing to take a drug test. After making the investment in Will HIll, Nick Boyle, Asa Jackson etc... why would they be willing to go down that road again. I believe the people the Ravens have targeted for pick 6 are Tunsil, Ramsey, Jack, Hargreaves and Buckner. That leaves the Ravens to drop back if they want a pass rusher but next person in line is Noah Spence or Nkemdiche who have more issues than Bosa. Bad year to want a pass rusher who can pass a drug test.

When will the Ravens be hiring you to be their new GM? Just wondering.
