Could you elaborate more on the new blitz packages?  I'm curious about that, and it does seem more plausible than completely switching to a 4-3.

I like to pretend Canady can fill in while Smith heals.  But I agree a vet makes more sense.

I think your on to something. Who on this forum can draw up plays really well?

The new blitz packages Pee's draws up will feature new players and strengthen the vets abilities. I see and hear this draft was designed to stop the dink and dunk of the pass happy teams as well as the propensity for our D to give up those big plays. I believe another cornerback vet will be one of the targets thats brought in along with another linebacker. One year deals incentive laden. I think Jimmy may need an adjustment time from the foot procedure. I had a screw removed from foot once and it was as painful after as when inserted. And i still think we need depth at it.

I see new schemes via the introduction of speed. Organized chaos is back and the traits I see are encouraging. No one in this scheme will play just their spot. I see a lot of moving pieces around. I see flooding speed on one side. I anticipate confusing the opposing Oline with alignments that are alien in nature. The team now has a lot of qualities as a mauler. Players you'd never envision dropping into coverage will now do so and those asked to rush the QB will seeming come from nowhere.

The Offense will also play a key role. Proving the ability to strike at will obviously seems to be the mindset. Clock management will become the luxury we've missed these last few years. High Octane with all the weapons Trestman will deploy. So now we can rip through the o-line, TFL, sacks, set the edge, collapse the pocket, bat balls, cover the slot effectively, play man, zone and pick off the ball due to QB hurried situations. I would argue the Ravens still need to get a ballhawking thumper into the mix and would think that money used will be in pursuit of such. If we keep Monroe which I think we should to play guard and stack it with 6 pick next him would be a solid front and allow 6 pick to be mentored play by play and have tutored at another spot as well.

Honestly the 400lb dude should be picked up and given a try at guard. Who's gonna move him out his spot. NNnNNooooooBody.

Yeah I'm coming around of kaufusi, a big part of my analysis on him was that he bends very well, idk if you caught that or not. I was kinda pigeonholing him as a 34DE because of his build, but game tape really shows a legit edge rusher. He gets off quick and gives a violent punch to the shoulder and gets the tackle off of his base and He has an awesome underhook to just rotate the tackle into the pocket. I don't think he does much on the interior but we could have a really good edge rusher with freakish physical traits right here. Not to mention his incredible motor and "authority" play style, he's a bully.

Keys for me is there supporting cast. Intergrated into the schemes that Pee's will employ will create chaos. Put two push monsters in the middle and they slide through the gap/creases and around the ends. Hybrid players are being infused. Once the Ravens use cap space from the future cuts and apply the money to the post june cuts acquired. I see the Ravens as truly much improved team. They are not done.

Chris Moore will be our AB watch.

    I agree.

The reality is we all got carried away with our pet favorites, even I got caught up in the Tunsil hype when I was initially lukewarm on him. I mean you could find flaws in every forum flavour of the month pick that was "stolen" from us:

Bosa - Slow on the edge and bending (we never had a shot at him anyway)

    Ramsey - Three career interceptions

Tunsil - Injury prone, character flags

Spence - Small school, drug history

    Jack - Ticking timebomb knee

    etc etc

For my money the only cleanest playmakers in this draft were Elliot and Buckner, but neither was sexy enough for the fanbase because they weren't needs.

I think we'd have been elated with an Elliot pick.

Yeah I get that, but I just don't think a combination of a B+, an A, and a C should result in the same overall grade as a combination of a B and two As, but that's just me.

My point is that they don't grade our system well. Because the players profile and divisions seems to be slighted or overlooked.  Pittsburgh and New England seem to get there bumper crop from the unknowns as well.

I know draft grades shouldn't mean much but this is from NFL.com,

    Ravens:

    Day 1 grade: B
    Day 2 grade: A
    Day 3 grade: A
    Overall grade: A-

    Steelers:

    Day 1 grade: B+
    Day 2 grade: A
    Day 3 grade: C
    Overall grade: A-

    Huh???

It's similar every year with grades. But it's only the initial grade. The Steelers find value period. No one new AB or Bryant would become impact players and they were graded similarly that year if not worst. We have drafted arguably like them this year and now are in uncharted waters imo. I've read the draft books and looked at some clips. I think we are in good shape.

Case in point is ravens need impact players and did not get any players with explosive talent to mold. Peeps can talk themselves into liking this draft as much as it would like. But truth be told it would be surprise If Correa or Kufusi whatever his name is became game changing talent that changes the defenses status.

I'm disappointed about certain things as with every year seemingly. But I've been wrong before because the perception of the unknown players is always leads to the sense of insecurity. I didn't know about Ray Rice, Timmy Jernigan or Terrell Suggs before they were implanted here. I do see the effort to get younger and the potential change in scheme and needing to infuse it with a lighter quicker players. Did I love this draft. Hell No. I see some waisted picks and would have preferred to see it play out differently. One thing for sure is if theres No instant coffee, either Ozzie or Harbaugh will probably be on the hot seat. It seemed to me that they made all in statements about the requirement to draft well to excellent. If 5 to six players aren't on this team or on the practice squad bare minimum this will be an epic fail. The record of wins must see a dramatic increase. Some dead weight from the past is about to be shed.

  10. I now see Correa and kaufusi as assets. Both can be schemed into the line up via creative packages. I think they both show a bit of hybrid in there game. We have other players that solidify the run stop. I like the tape after watching some games several times. I believe the chess match on defense just toke a curious and refreshing twist. I would have rather taken Cravens but they chose a different route. I know for me personally I don't like rivals in conference taking coveted players @ certain positions. The Bengals toke my boy and now they have two weapons to beat us over the head with. Cravens was valued but be he hurt us less because he'll play in Washburn. I'm ok with Stanley too. Not my first preference but an efficient way to rid ourselves of a player if deemed warranted(Monroe).

I do see a couple of givebacks.

Give these guys a chance. Just because we didn't pick the players you guys feel like we're the best available at the time we still have to deal with the FO wether we want to or not. I dont like this draft one bit either but I've also realized that this is what they do. These guys get paid to review these players all year and they know the most about the team and what direction were headed in obviously. So we just need to sit back and let them put their hard work in action and hope some of these guys were underrated to begin with.

We've been sitting back waiting for them to flip that proverbial switch. I don't see instant coffee anywhere. You?

  12. As usual this draft lacked high level brand recognition. Ozzie style to me Sucks. He hoards low level/small school quality and refuses to infuse our program with proven on tape higher profile talent. They better nail the fourth or they will be in the basements subfloor. Most uninspired draft I've ever witnessed. It's a lot of bull to keep saying best player available. Thats a crock. Who's left worth talking about?

Coming into the draft I was very open to grabbing one of the falling Bama defensive players, I mean I like them all but seeing as how we went offense in the first I really hope we don't grab Reed or Robinson I'll dye if we don't grab a pass rusher or corner.

im thinking we end up with Spence, I'm not sure how we view Dodd.

Agreed. Somewhat. I don't know how we feel about Spence with the Tunsil snub. He seems to be a fall back plan.

The war room wasn't all jovial with the first pick?
