Different era - different game. Those numbers will most likely never be seen again. Passing attempts have nearly doubled. Rushing specialist and schemes are more advantageous. Team speed per defender is off the charts. New blocking rules surrender more defensive advantages. Not to take anything away from Ogden (HoF), but at the same time not to take anything away from this youngster. He deserves all the accolades. There's only one Ogden and hopefully when it's all said and done...people will be saying the same about Stanley. Well said!

Aw, c'mon! Yeah, "C'mon, Man"! I think that was a pretty fair statement, not sugar-coating. I mean, gee whiz, 18th best LT in his rookie year Despite his injury caused mid-season set back, I think, is pretty darn good. And I suspect that time will prove that he will be a heck of a lot better than solid. We'll see. And, I hope that this will be one time when we Will be able to re-sign Stanley after his rookie contract. That is, if he performs like expected. And, as for Ozzie, he Has found a way, on occasion, to keep Special players (think Yanda). And remember, you can't blame Everything on Ozzie. You don't like his drafts, ok. But we have a different FO employee who's responsible for our cap situation. And Brandon Williams really tailed off late in the season. Our entire run defense did. So, I don't think we should overpay for him.

I totally concur. Just look at the Cowboys' OL and what it's done for them. As they always, rightfully, say, the games are won and lost in the trenches. Not saying we don't need the play makers we lack and are so often talked about. But our OL, Big Time important.

I was pleased when we selected Stanley at pick #6 and, after watching him this season, I'm even happier now. Projecting players' development is always risky and can, legitimately, be called guesswork. But, I read a lot of that on the article about Perriman recently. My Guess is that Stanley will, one day, be looked at as one of our wisest draft choices ever, kind of similar to another LT from the Ravens' past, the HOF great Jonathon Ogden. And Ogden didn't even play LT in his first season. Now, don't misunderstand me. I am NOT saying Stanley will be as great as Ogden was. Only time will tell how far he progresses and just how good he will become. But, he is off to a tremendous start in his career and, again, I think most will agree that he was a great selection in last year's draft. Great job, Ronnie!

He did 1,000 times better than the 7th Overall pick (WR Kevin White) and the 20th overall pick (Nelson Agholor) and much better than pretty much all of the WRs drafted that year. And scored as many TDs as Wonderboy Stefan Diggs. You just confirmed what I said. You just compared him with all the other mediocre WR's. No. He didn't confirm what you said. Yes, he Compared Permian to what You have decided are mediocre wrs, but he said that he did Better. Listen, the bottom line is that this really was Perriman's first year on the field, and the Vast majority of #1 wrs take time to develop. Antonio Brown, even the great Jerry Rice took time. Why are so many people on here so quick to write off Perriman's chances of becoming a #1 when, truly, Only time will tell? I don't know if Perriman will develop into a #1 wr, and nobody else knows that either at this point. Yes, we can all have opinions, or guesses, but that's all. And my guess is that of all the wrs Currently on our roster, he has the best chance of any of them to develop into a #1. And that's All it is, a guess. Well, it's a hope as well.

Well, I read that Joe and Pitta both did endorse Morhinweg, but unless you know more than that, I don't know that that, necessarily, was the determining factor. But, really, if Harbs is letting his players make his decisions for him, which I doubt, isn't that even more proof that he should be gone? I think that Harbs just dug his hole a little deeper. If the offense doesn't improve, if we don't make the playoffs next year, I can't imagine Harbs not being fired. And remember this, he emphatically stated that it was HIS decision, not Steve's, not Ozzie's, and certainly not Joe's or Dennis'.

Agree on both points.

I'm no expert on cap related issues. That's for sure. I know, in general, that things like contract language, lengths of contracts, "dead" money rules, and when cuts are made always play a big part in whether or not it is wise to cut players. But, I will say this, very few of our players, as far as performance goes, should be considered as "untouchables" in regards to being cut candidates. Again, I'm only talking about performance here. I looked at the picture in this article and found myself wondering when it was taken, because none of the three looked to be very happy. It sure doesn't look like they were having fun.

That's not going to happen. From a previous article: "Harbaugh said he’s excited to move forward with all three coordinators, including Defensive Coordinator Dean Pees and Special Teams Coordinator Jerry Rosburg." We are all excited as well ... I'm not excited. I'm very disappointed to learn that it appears Harbaugh will be retained. I'm even more disappointed that he's keeping our OC and DC too. I was so hoping that Mr. Bisciotti would move on from Harbaugh or, at the very least, if he just refused to fire him, put him on notice that the only way he could stay would be to replace Both coordinators and, also, show tangible improvement with the team next year. I was hoping for, at least, that. Harbaugh has succeeded in taking a lot of the fun out of watching the Ravens these past few years. I love my team, so I'm sticking with it through thick or thin. But, my goodness, does Harbaugh ever make it painful to watch.

That's who SI has us taking, but I'll be stunned if we go WR with our first pick. Not saying it can't happen, it just isn't the way our FO seems to operate on draft day. I, also, would be stunned if Ozzie went wr in the 1st. He, uncharacteristically, did that 2 years ago with Perriman, and, so far, it didn't work out too well. I am one of the fans, however, who have not given up on the idea that Permian could still develop into a #1 wr. He does need to work on route running and his hands, though, for that to happen. And we are having to replace SSS. But, with all the talk, and legitimate talk at that, of our needs for better pass rushing, and a better secondary, I see us looking in that direction. After all, there's no question our defense lost us plenty of games due to its lack of ability to protect leads and stop game winning drives. There's no question that our offense is in need of some serious upgrades as well. What has me most concerned, though, is the fact that the Ravens are, apparently, staying pat with our current coaching staff. That, I believe, is a HUGE mistake and I, for one, find it utterly amazing. I am shocked, stunned, and flabbergasted about that.

I would not go that far but he sure the heck is not worth Brady and Rogers money. Pay reduction would go à long way in saving the Ravens future. That's just not how contracts work in the NFL, Crusader, and all you others who are calling for paying Joe less. Joe's contract is signed, sealed, and delivered. The Only way we pay Joe less is if he agrees to it. Tell me, all of you, if your bosses came to you and asked you to take a pay cut so that the company could give what Was your money to someone else, how many of you would say, "sure, I understand. Go right ahead"? And restructuring has gotten us into enough problems already. When are you going to understand that we're paying the going rate for a franchise QB in the NFL now. And you Do realize that if we hadn't paid Joe that, after his MVP Super Bowl win, some other team would have. Just who would be our QB now had we not paid him and he had gone elsewhere? And don't say Tyrod Taylor, because very, very few expected him to have even the level of success that he has, and I think that he still has a lot of proving to do. Just look around the league and count how many teams are in desperate need of a QB and how many would simply Love to have Joe on their roster. We simply didn't have another viable option then and we don't now. Brady and Rodgers are not the only QBs making comparable money to Joe. There are others.

Well, at least he knows what Harbaugh wants to do now. Harbaugh wants to retain an OC who, basically, had a horrible audition for the job. And he wants to retain a DC who consistently put defenses out there which could not protect leads and gave up late game winning drives over and over and over again. We can only hope that he mulls that over and decides to do the same thing he did when he, at first, endorsed keeping Billick, but then decided that the wiser thing would be to tank him. Honestly, I think Mr. Bisciotti's team would be far better off getting rid of all three of them, wiping the slate clean, and beginning the task of letting a new coaching regime get started in turning his team around. Of course, Pitta would like to keep the present OC. Marty has no problem with Joe throwing much too high of a percentage of passes to him at the expense of rendering the wrs obsolete. Of course, we do need better wr, but still.....

I didn't have much respect at all for Harbaugh as a HC and, after his decision to retain his OC And DC, I have even less. This just proves some of his weaknesses, misplaced and too much loyalty, and his decision making. I love my Ravens, hence my RavenManiac handle, but Harbaugh sure does make it difficult to be a Ravens fan. Yes, I will remain with them, as avidly as ever no matter what, but he makes it very heart-wrenching, painful, and difficult to do so. I live in the mountains of western Maryland, and there are many more Squealers fans than there are Ravens fans around here. I can't tell you the number of times that I have had to listen to those Squealers fans laugh at Harbaugh's ineptness. They, actually, point out many specific instances that he has made bonehead decisions and ask me how he could possibly have done those things. I hate to have to say that it is, sometimes, impossible to defend him. So, all I can do is point out some things that Tomlin has done that haven't exactly been too wise either. But, the point is, there is no defending Harbaugh. And, I believe strongly, that this is one of those times and decisions of his. I can only hope that Mr. Bisciotti has a change of heart like he did with Brian Billick, when he decided to fire him after, initially, giving him a vote of confidence. Please, Mr. Bisciotti, do NOT let Harbaugh do this to your team. My goodness, I thought that all three of them should go, but I Did see a scenario where you might have given Harbaugh one more year to prove himself but with the stipulation that he dismiss Both his OC and DC. Please, Mr. Bisciotti, help us loyal fans once again.

Shouldn't the league have changed its name to "The International Football League" by now? Just because there isn't a team Stationed in another country doesn't mean the NFL isn't Playing outside the US. And, besides, isn't a team based outside the US really what the league is working towards?

Hope you're wrong. It looked, to me, like we might be able to squeak out a 5-11 record. Of course, your prediction Would give us a better draft position, although at this point, I don't even know if That would help us. I am stunned, shocked, to read that our coaches will remain the same. All I can hope is that I am confused and didn't really read that. Or, that Steve Biscotti will have a change of heart about that. I remember that Brian Bullock was given a vote of confidence a week or so before our owner had a change of heart and let him go. If I read things right, that may be our Only hope in regards to our coaching staff. I have just totally lost faith in our HC and our OC and DC. And I'm not brimming with confidence in Ozzie's drafting anymore.

So true. And so sad. Twenty years and Never had a true #1. Yes, we've had a few pretty good ones, but just a few, and NO true #1. And when all you've got is a pretty good one, with no better option for your QB, and not much other help from the other wrs, really just roster fillers, that's just Not the recipe for a good passing game. But it's the story of the Baltimore Ravens. So sad.

What kind of experience do you have that makes you so sure that you know the right moves to make in the NFL, which is supposed to be a league with the best of the best, to produce a winning team? I am not scoffing at you. I am truly curious to learn how you can be so sure that you are that undiscovered talent that knows how to build a successful team at this level. Like even You said, there are many people who have opinions and think that their's are the ones that are right. But, you sound so positive about it. I'm really curious about where such a level of confidence is coming from.

It's way to early to starting to focus seriously on names, and our cap situation is unknown at this point, but is generally not very advantageous to us but, nevertheless, I will say that Alshon Jeffery is a receiver whom I have always felt could be beneficial to us. His injury past would have to be considered, potential cost to sign, our cap-space would need to be looked at. I'm just saying, that is a name that jumped out at me. A lot can, and will, happen and, of course, time will tell. Just a very quick, initial thought, that's all.

So Boldin and Steve Smith weren't good receivers? Of course they were, jacket. You and I and, I suspect, even Crusader knows that. While I will Always respect, and defend, Everyone's right o voice their opinions on this website, sometimes I think that it's quite obvious that there are numerous regular contributors that tend to have a somewhat negative overall tendency in the vast majority of their posts. Not that I'm purposely labeling Crusader as one of them. I'll gladly leave that up to each individual's opinion. For what it's worth, I have Always found yours to be wise and insightful, even on the very rare occasions that I have not agreed with them. I Do look forward to reading yours. And I commend you for researching your points you make rather than just throwing them out there. Wish that happened more frequently.

Oh, and jacket, I forgot to mention that I agree, once again, with you that it isn't a positive necessity that a team needs a true #1 receiver to win the Super Bowl. You were 100% correct in pointing out that we did it without one, as other teams have done as well. But, boy oh boy, wouldn't it be nice to Finally see our beloved team actually have one on our roster?

They'll need to draft one if they really want one... the same way every other team gets a #1. There is rarely a #1 who ends up on the FA market in the entire league. Though obviously, the caveat here is that they don't necessarily NEED a #1 WR. No shortage of teams winning SBs without one, and the 2012 Ravens certainly fit that mold. You're absolutely right, jacket, as usual, especially given two realities. One, Ozzie just has not shown the ability to draft a true #1 wr. Permian is, probably, his best stab at one, and it remains to be seen if he can overcome his difficulties in running good pass routes and improving his hands. But, only more time will tell. And, second, even in the extremely rare event that a #1 receiver Would show up in FA, and I'm not even sure who will be available this year, we almost certainly will not be in a position cap-wise to make a serious play at him. Much more likely, Ozzie will stay true to form and try to sign an older has been, on the downside of his career, who is a castoff, cut from some other team in the league. Yeah, Ozzie did get us Boldin and Mason, I believe, but he brought in far more ineffective FAs than those two, who were good, but not true #1s. Wouldn't you agree?

Well, I have steadily losing faith and confidence in Harbaugh over the last few years. There is no more doubt in my mind that he is a poor HC who has shown all the signs of having "lost his team". So, now, to read that Marty will be back next year is absolutely mind boggling to me. I can only hope, and pray that Biscotti gives him the ultimatum at the end of season team meeting that if Marty, and Pees too for that matter, are not fired then Harbaugh and the pair of them will be sent packing together. To be honest, to me, that's the best decision that could be made anyway. That is, All of them going. But, if Biscotti, for some reason, wants to give Harbaugh one more season to try to save his job, then it should only happen without the services of Either of his present coaching coordinators. The Cheatriots let Pees go because his defenses could not protect leads. And Philadelphia let Marty go because he was not innovative enough to come up with adequate, and effective, game plans, nor was he able to make in game adjustments when his inferior game plans were failing his offenses. In both cases, these tendencies have continued for both of these guys. Open your eyes, Harbaugh, or your blind, and overdone, loyalty to your BFF/ coaches will cost you your own job after, perhaps, only one more season of total ineptness. Truly sad for us loyal Ravens fans. Mr. Bisciotti, you are, apparently, the Only man who can save us from more heartache. Please, help!
