  1. Dennis was one of my favorite Ravens ever since he got here. Immediately after the draft, having seen both him and Dickson play in college, I posted on here that I thought Pitta had more talent than Dickson even though Dickson was drafted earlier than Pitta. I very much enjoyed watching the success he had nd the confidence Joe developed in him. With all that said, I have no desire to see him on the field again. I sincerely hope that he decides not to take the risk of reinsuring his hip yet again. Seeing the second injury occur, without even an iota of contact on the play, showed me that he, in my opinion, would be at a high risk of yet another injury to that hip. His quality of life with his wife and children, I believe, is Much more important than making another attempt at playing more football games and, potentially, limiting how much he can enjoy romping around with his children. That's one thing, romping with his children. It's a Totally different thing going out there and playing football in the NFL, where defensive players are hitting you with a full head of steam and really trying to "put a lick on you." Be smart, Dennis, chose your family. If necessary, Ravens' FO, do your part to encourage him to make the right choice for himself and his family, not one that may, or may not, Slightly help this team that has So many other problems. Dennis Pitta, as great a TE as he's been for us in the past, just isn't going to instantly turn this season around just by himself, in my opinion. Just keep giving the young guys the game experience that they all three need to help them reach their full potential. Good luck, Dennis.
  2. After what I saw today……………..1 and 15???? So sad.
  3. Actually, I feel certain that this year's Ravens team is as badly a coached team as we have had. Why did we have to waste a time-out early in the second half? Why did Harbaugh throw a challenge flag on an Obviously completed pass made by Boldin, and waste yet another time-out? Harbaugh has Never been a good game-time coach and today it looked at times like he was very close to losing control of himself. Years past we had Very good coaches. Proof of that is there if you just look around the league and see many, many successful coaches. When Kubiak left and took coaches with him, Harbaugh's replacements were vastly inferior. And Pees has been bad since he's been here. Harbaugh is fast losing my confidence too. I agree with you that he should stick to what has always been done instead of coming up with these hair brained ideas of his. I think he really needs to have a serious look in the mirror and ask himself when and how he lost these players. Seeing them jogging to the line in those last seconds was infuriating. It so looked like they just didn't care. That was truly pathetic and they should be too ashamed to cash their game checks this week, accept for SSS, even though he did drop two TD passes. He's, at least, ALWAYS trying and leaving Nothing on the field.
  4. Maybe better.
  5. Webb is out. Webb is out. Webb can't stay in. Time to move on from Webb at the end of the season unless he'll play for the league minimum next year, and then I'd have to give it some serious thought. Anybody know how much it would cost us to just cut him?
  6. You're right about Torrey, and I loved the guy. But, yeah, he left for 5 million dollars over 4 years, to go out to California with its higher taxes. I wonder just how much more he's really getting. Maryland's taxes are high too, but not as high as California's. And a couple of days ago I had to read on here that Torrey was crying, or close to crying, when he had to leave the Ravens. Really? He HAD to leave? I think it was a 5 million dollar Choice for him. If he really wanted to stay, he could have, and somehow I think he could have managed to pay his bills on what we were offering him. Seriously, with the tax differential, I really do wonder just how much difference the two offers really were.
  7. I agree with you in theory, but I can't agree with including Perriman in your examples. So many people are so impatient with him because of his injury that they are prematurely labeling him a bust. I still happen to believe he possesses the skills to become a #1 receiver in the NFL. The man has not even played in One game yet. He is injured, not a bust. Nobody knows yet what he can be. We just have to wait to see. There's Nothing else we can do. Brooks, too, shows some promise, but overall I think you are right. Ozzie certainly has Not had the success he has typically had in the past these last few years.
  8. The way the losses have piled up early at this point of the season has forced me to look for the silver lining that I hope is in this "cloud" that we're in. So, each loss I console myself with the thought that our draft spot will be better. But, "tank the season?" Are you advocating that we actually Try to lose? This I could Never be comfortable with. Now, dedicating ourselves to seeing more of our subs (than we've already been forced to see due to injuries) in order to determine who we should try to hold onto, well, That I Am comfortable with. Truly, though, the number of injuries we've had has already forced us to do that to some extent. I'm not ready to give up on trying to find a way to re-sign KO, though. Like you said, we lose a Lot of dead money next year, so I don't know that we couldn't really sign him if we wanted to. Actually, I liked the idea someone wrote on here about sliding KO over to LT and playing Urschel at LG, to see if KO would be an upgrade over Monroe and if Urschel is ready to be a starter. I think Monroe has been a bit of a disappointment, and if KO is better, I'd like to see them move from Monroe if they can find a suitor and perhaps re-sign KO as our LT. If trying things such as this happens to produce more losses, I can live with that because, as you said, we are in a rebuilding mode and, again, we can console ourselves with the thought of those better draft choices. I just don't like to think of "tanking the season." Getting comfortable with losing is NOT a good thing and, often, very difficult to overcome. Experimenting in order to confirm what we do or do not have and what we do need to find is one thing, but we should Always be trying to win, not "tank."
  9. I don't know you, dorie80, and you don't know me. But, I can tell you that I'm just as much a fan of the Ravens as you are. In fact, there are many, many times that I have to watch our games on a separate TV than the rest of my family because of my Loud enthusiasm that I display. That being said, I do agree that there is more negativity on here than I would like to have to read. But, sometimes, I think what we're reading is our fellow fans venting their disappointment, letting off steam, and ridding themselves of frustration. As fans, we have every right to make suggestions that we think are pertinent, point out what we see as needs, things that we think would help us improve, critiques of coaches and players' efforts or performances, and a lot of other things and opinions. Of course, I could do without the obvious negativity and digs that I often read on here. But, even the people spurting forth that kind of stuff, I have to believe they care about the team and are fans at heart or they wouldn't care enough to comment on here. Like you, I will NEVER give up on my team, but during this season that's been so painful to watch so far, I try to look on the bright side of things. Every loss we have to suffer through gives us a better position to draft from. And with us projected to have 12 draft choices next year, the closer we are to the top of the list, the more access we will have to the better players in the draft. And as much as I love my Ravens, I do believe that we have some major holes, issues, and problems, and that we are in a rebuilding mode. I believe, and sincerely hope, that at the end of the year, Mr. Bisciotti pulls his people together, as usual, and looks at each and every issue involved with what needs to happen to get this team back to where All us fans want it to be.
  10. IF that experiment were tried and found to be successful, I think that it might be worth it. You are most likely correct about the financial aspect of that move, but if our OL is improved, that has to be a consideration as well. I Do think that Monroe has been a disappointment and an upgrade at LT is something we should be trying to attain.
  11. This is really, Really Great news. After Tucker, I felt that Yanda was our most important potential FA we had to re-sign. Great job, FO!
  12. You're absolutely right about Torrey being a class act. Not too many better. But, come on, Low-balled?!? The Ravens offered him 35 million dollars. He left because the 49ers offered him 40 million. And you're actually saying that he left to make his family more comfortable. Are you telling me his family couldn't be "comfortable" with 35 million dollars? Let's tell the truth. All these players today are greedy. Plain and simple. Yeah, so are the owners. But, don't kid yourself, even the "class" players are greedy. They're not crazy or being blackmailed by the boss. They're greedy. I don't know about you, but I could make my family VERY comfortable with 35 million dollars and never have to work another day in my life. You know, I can remember when professional athletes actually had off-season jobs. These guys today are spoiled and the ones who have spoiled them are the fans. They are the ones who seem willing to pay Any price the greedy owners want to charge to watch the greedy players play. The fans complain about the prices as they continue to reach into their wallets to pay those ridiculous prices. I know I'll get negged like the dickens for saying all this, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong. The owners And the players Are greedy and it's because we let them be. I pay just a couple hundred dollars a year to watch Every game played with my Direct-TV NFL Ticket. That, to me, seems a lot more reasonable than paying a ransom ( PSL ) for the Right to buy a season ticket. A Right! Simply Ridiculous! Fellow football fan, anybody who can't make their family comfortable enough on 35 million dollars doesn't know how to manage their money.
  13. I am a Die-Hard Raven fan and always will be NO MATTER WHAT. I, also, absolutely Hate to lose. So, obviously this season, so far, has been very painful for me to watch. But, I can't say that I'm surprised or that I didn't see it coming. As much as I love my team, I have been aware that we have numerous problems and shortcomings and, of course, all the injuries have certainly added to our woes. Of course, I will continue to watch every game and hope for the best, but I do try to find a little solace in the fact that every painful loss we suffer gives us a better draft choice in the next draft. For that reason, although I am certainly NOT advocating that we "tank" the season, I do think it would be to our benefit to play everyone for evaluation purposes to see just what we do and don't have moving forward as we rebuild our team. Since I do not think we have a shot at the playoffs, I think it best that we do as I suggested and, again, remind ourselves that the pain brings along with it the best draft choices we've had in a very long time and the chance to rebuild at a faster rate. It sure does still hurt, though.
  14. You know, a lot of people on here have questioned the effectiveness of our training and conditioning staff, and given the number of injuries we have suffered for two years in a row now, kind of makes one think that all these posters may very well have a valid point. I think that it's definitely something that needs to be looked at Very carefully and completely to try to determine whether or not some personnel, some methods, or some changes might be indicated or needed. I'd be very interested to compare our record in the number of injuries to all the other teams in the league for the last two seasons to see just where we stand. It seems like a stretch to just chalk it up to luck and luck alone. Put someone on that, will you Ozzie?
  15. I agree with you but I have to believe that the secondary coach has to share some of the blame for this as well.
  16. You know, I have NEVER said Anything negative about the best owner in ALL of sports, Steve Bisciotti, because he is just that, the best owner in all of sports. But, Nobody is perfect and I think that he has made One mistake that I know of, and that's the handling of the Ray Rice situation. I look around the league and see just So many players who have dealt with domestic violence issues, many repeat offenders, that are Still playing in this league, often with the same teams they were with before their infractions, and I wonder what is so different about Ray Rice that he doesn't get a second chance when Everybody else gets second, and sometimes third chances. Goodness, look at Adrian Peterson! He's done much worse, in my opinion. His problems were with two, not one, incidences of child abuse, beating two four year old sons of his with switches severely enough to leave evidence of the beatings on the children's' behinds. And what happens to Peterson? He sits out a while, then comes back to his same team. This is the one and only time that I have been disappointed with Bisciotti's decisions for this team and, more importantly, for Ray. Ray Never should have been fired. His situation was mishandled from the very beginning. And let me state with great seriousness, I do NOT want to minimize what Ray did even in the slightest. It was absolutely Horrible! But, he is a Good man who made a Big mistake while under the influence of alcohol. Is there Anyone who has not made a big mistake in their life, including Mr. Bisciotti? How many running backs have we signed since we fired Ray? I've lost count. I believe that Steve Bisciotti is the best owner in all of sports. And I believe that Ray Rice is a good man who made a big mistake. I, also, believe that Ray should have suffered a fine and suspension and then been treated like Everyone else in this league who has committed the Same mistake that Ray did. It's been a Terribly unfair situation. Two good men, but because of the decision of one of them, the other had his career taken from him even though the same thing has happened to nobody else who has ever found himself in the same predicament. I'm sorry for both Ray and his wife and I believe that Ray should have been given the chance to continue with his career, after a suspension, and had the opportunity to show us whether he could have rebounded from a poor season in which our OL played miserably. I wouldn't trade you for anybody, Mr. Bisciotti, but I think you blew this one.
  17. I, honestly, don't know what you're watching! Without doubt, the defense deserves MUCH more of the blame for this team's record than the offense does. In all but One game the offense put enough points on the board that we Should have won the games. The reason we didn't was because of the Defense's inability to make a stop, get off the field, and preserve the lead. Their inability to hold leads and their totally frustrating stupid penalties that keep opponent's drives alive is the number one cause of our record; not the only cause, but the major one. I, seriously, don't know what you're watching, or understand your thought process.
  18. Our problems are so numerous it's hard to expect much improvement in the short term. I know how many people, myself included, realize that Pees needs to go, but I don't think that one move will make a big difference. It's more likely that a total look at the coaching staff will be done at year's end, when more coaches are available. The injuries, the lack of talent, the Coordinators, Harbs' stubbornness, the absolutely inexcusable number of stupid and costly penalties; all this won't be fixed by firing Pees. We're just going to have to play this season out, probably wind up with a fairly high draft choice, and see what happens at the end of the season when the brass gets together. We all have to know Steve Bisciotti is becoming more and more unhappy with what he's seeing. It'll be Very interesting to see what happens. I think we all should hold onto our seats then.
  19. I agree 100% with everything you said. Well put, and well thought out. I admit that I'm an impatient man. It's something I've worked on all my life. So, yeah, I admit I'd like to see a change made when it's obviously needed. But, you're perfectly right about how this organization works. Cameron's ruing the season firing was Extremely rare. In fact, I'm not sure I remember it ever happening before. You're spot on, though, balfan
  20. You're right about where he belongs, but he's where he wants to be. He's doing this because he wants to have more time to be around his family. That's why it's going to be such a hard sell, and maybe an impossible one, to get him to take our DC job. Now, Ed Reed is a different story. He has already spoken about his interest in coaching. I would like to see him as our secondary coach. The Real problem is that Harbaugh would NEVER allow either one of those guys to be on his staff because they could actually get some of the credit for any success we might have. Harbs' considerable ego would, undoubtedly, get in the way.
  21. I've said this before. First, FIRE PEES! Second, find a way, any way, to talk Ray Lewis out of his job as a commentator and into the job of our DC. It's really going to take some persuading. So, get everybody on board, including his buddy, Ed Reed. Third, replace the current secondary coach with Ed Reed. He has already stated his interest in coaching. Ray Lewis-HC, Ed Reed-SC = Dream Team. Pretty much guaranteed that our defense will play with more intensity, motivation, and effort.
  22. Harbs says that the coaches are doing a good job. Well, if he really thinks Pees is doing a good job, I have to think that he's delusional. Then he says that the coaches have to coach better. Now, he sounds confused. Which one is it, Harbs? Are the coaches doing a good job or do they have to coach better? And don't forget to look in the mirror. Please don't think that I'm advocating that we fire Harbs. I'm Not! I just think, given how things are, Everything has to be looked at and evaluated.
  23. When we fired Marvin Lewis, I thought it was a mistake. I always believed, and still do, that we should have Not hired Brian Billick. We should have hired Lewis as our HC then. Now, Belicheater, I'm glad that they made the right call on him. I do NOT want a cheater to coach our team. EVER!!! I don't care if he Is a winner. What's more important is that he's a cheater. And when you cheat, you Really haven't won Anything.
  24. Nah! Ozzie would probably trade back.
  25. I have watched the Browns improve over the last few seasons, despite all the dismissive talk on here about the "Browns being the Browns." All I've seen was that they have been looking for a QB for a while. But, the team Has been improving. Well, now the Browns are a better team than the Ravens are right now. That's a tough pill to swallow, but the Ravens are really a bad football team right now and I hate to say it but I don't see a quick end to that. We lack talent, we have very poor coaching going on, and our players play stupid football. The last thing, stupid football is the hardest thing to watch. Seeing just how many times our players commit dumb and costly penalties is so frustrating. It's one thing to come up short on the talent level, but to help other teams so much by so consistently committing these dumb penalties is just totally inexcusable. I hold the coaches as much accountable for this as the players. Just when, Harbaugh, are you going to do something about it? I mean something more than just talk about it. If you continue to have no consequences for it, what reason do you have to think that it's going to stop? Time to coach, Harbs.
